Good evening everyone,
Another day spent mainly at my Dad's but thankfully the furniture folk came:), though there were a couple of things they didn't want which is fair enough but now need to work on these. It's been surprising how hard it has been to actually give (very good quality) things away. I can see the difficulty if it was tat or badly worn/damaged!
Despite forecast for a rainy day there's only been a couple of showers and it's definitely slightly milder though getting chilly now. I managed to get four wall baskets planted up. These ones are sheltered on the deck so will be fine though it doesn't look as though there's anymore frosty weather due. Just another 12 wall baskets and a couple of hanging flower pouches to go:eek:. Of all the gardening tasks I struggle with these ones as I need to stand to do them but I do love how they look when the flowers bloom so worth the effort. I just need to work on them in smallish bursts.:) Ground pots are much easier- just as well as I have [STRIKE]far too many[/STRIKE] rather a lot of those.
Lunch was another cheese & salad roll with a cupasoup and an apple. I finished the sourdough as toast for breakfast so starting another one tonight (well mixing up the starter:rotfl:) which will get baked on Thursday. Grocery delivery also booked for Thursday as be out of salad stuff and staples by then.
"Use it up" pasta tonight to finish off the asparagus & green beans, I've HM pesto in the freezer so will add some of that, a blob of cream cheese and some frozen spinach and hopefully it will be a tasty meal.:)0 -
Thanks for the link Farway, i have an unopened 500g pot in the fridge to use up so whilst I eat that I'll sit down with the instructions to work out what I need to do
Caronc are there any charities near you which help people set up their new homes when they have been given a HA property which can take it?
Work was the usual madness for this time of the month, not helped by losing a day  I was advised by my senior manager not to reply to an email where it was suggested we plan around the bank holiday with the implication I should have work it  I think it was the steam coming out of my ears, my manager knew I would finish it within the deadline as I always do. it's was because I hadn't unloaded data prepared last week onto the system which I usually do by the end of the fourth working day. I finished by 4pm and my deadline is 10pm so actually no problem he just p****ed me off by his several emails first thing today :mad: the rest of the office just avoided me other than to feed me tea and biscuits all day
His lordship has had his annual trip to the vet this evening and even with the lady vet he flattened himself to the table in fearshe gave him an anti inflammatory/ painkiller injection as well to try to avoid the reaction he had last year, he's currently sleeping it off [STRIKE]so no different than usual [/STRIKE]. I'm hoping he won't have problems as I agreed to give a colleague a lift to work tomorrow. I then had a lovely long phone call with my 'big' sister although I was nagged for not going down there or calling enough
. She has children my age so I will always be her baby sister
. She took on the role when mum died of ensuring she spoke to us all regularly
Lunch was LO gnocchi in tomato and vegetable sauce and dinner steak and HM chips using LO new potatoes air fried i was too cba to do much veg so just some mushrooms and tomatoLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

I think the chaps who came today were as frustrated as I am  especially when they could see it was decent stuff. Shall avoid a rant ......................................................0 -
Woken at 3 by rain pouring down, at last. It's still chucking it down but the gardens really need it here it's been so dry
Porridge etc breakfast, just digging in when 'phone call from hospital, my operation is scheduled for next Monday, details coming in the post
It's an overnight stay as I'm alone at home so no one "just in case" available
That's one day at least I'll not be CFO, last spell I had in the food was OK but I did stick to mainly ham salad on the assumption it's hard to ruin all of it:)
I toyed with making a banana loaf using some of my now squishy YS bananas,, but decided against, last time I made one it was hanging around forever.
I could use some of my L's instant whip style to make something with them I'm sure
Lunch, I did open the tin of salmon, so it's salmon & cuc sarnie
Dinner, no idea yet, could bung a spud in I suppose, that's easy.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Oh bless him Brambling my little girl is the same. The vets want to see her walking (osteoarthritis) but she slinks down low to the nearest corner and freezes.
Delurking ... popped over from the 'Clutter-free Life' thread. :hello:
Food-wise I am trying to eat better (again), reduce a mini stockpile of longlife stuff (cans/ jars), better rotate freezer contents (recently defrosted), and reduce fresh food waste (hit criminal levels in winter).
I have not got my 'avoidable' food waste under control but it has, at least, improved. :undecided Stretching out the gap between top-up shops at proper supermarkets has meant running out of fresh staples. No red onions, celery hearts, bell peppers, Spring onions, salad tomatoes or frozen garlic/ ginger for several days.
Ran errands around the city centre yesterday; bought long peppers, red onions and a small red cabbage at the indoor market. Prepped and frozen the long peppers for souping.
Spur-of-the-moment purchase of YS 'Taste the Difference' spaghetti bolognese ... probably half the price of making a large batch from scratch! No ingredients for a side salad so had a bowl of plain red gem lettuce, plus chestnut mushrooms and red onion fried in garlic butter. Chucked on the dried-out rind end of some Manchego cheese.
Today I am going to a proper supermarket!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
It's funny as I have really gone off bread, something I never thought I would say.:D
All I keep having is a pitta bread a day from the local Turkish supermarket.
I keep forgetting to get one out of the freezer at night to defrost for the next day!:rotfl:
I'm not sure what to have for breakfast now as I just gave my husband the last of the cereal. Hmm.His lordship has had his annual trip to the vet this evening and even with the lady vet he flattened himself to the table in fearshe gave him an anti inflammatory/ painkiller injection as well to try to avoid the reaction he had last year,
Aw, poor mite.x
My husband took one of my kitties to the vet today as he had to have his thyroid out recently. We have to call up to check the blood tests later today.Yes there are and that's who I've been using, still seems to be a list of stuff they don't take....

I donated some furniture a couple of months ago and I had problems with them collecting it too.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Seems to be common problem re donated furniture Wednesday, while I definitely don't think folk setting up should be given any old tat or stuff that doesn't meet fire regulations etc. the chap who came was saying that older-style quality pieces just aren't accepted and folk would rather go without.... I'm definitely turning into an old grump as when I first had my own place everything I had apart from my matress and bedding came from family and second hand shop and it was long, long time before we could afford anything new.
Cold and wet here but I'm happy to have a "house" day and catch up on some chores and admin as well as get the next sourdough loaf prepped to bake tomorrow.
I've LO pasta which will do for lunch probably with some toasted pitta bread as there is only a small amount. I've taken some beef mince out of the freezer as I fancy mince & tatties for dinner. I've a portion of mash left in the freezer which will do nicely.:)0 -
Had some chicken drumsticks marinating overnight in a dryrub (chili, paprika, and other sorts). Going to bake those later on, have with some peri peri sauce, rice, and some green beans on the side. Going to pack some up in meal prep containers, have 1 for lunch this week, and freeze the rest.
Currently have some homemade chili, and lentil soup (they are seperate dishes) in the freezer that I will probably get out this week to defrost.0 -
Chicken sounds tasty dan958 and as you say handy for lunches:)0
