Do we need to wrap you in bubble wrap Caronc
glad the sour dough turned out successful
I'm currently feeling sorry fo myself, my joints are playing up at the moment not helped by spending the whole week sitting in our meeting room leaning over the laptop, I did move my desk chair in today but I fear too late for the shoulder  usually wheat upsets my joints but I have tried to be good since Easter so it's just a flare up. Unfortunately it's the gift from my mum that keeps on giving, we've all inherited arthritis from her in various forms.
Lunch today was the last of the LO lentils, vegetables and chicken thighs. I didn't leave work until 7pm so dinner was some lamb shank and 'gravy' from the freezer and LO french beans and tender stem broccoli nice and easy ping meal after voting. The lamb favours matured in the freezer and was yumI'm hoping I bookmarked the recipe, they're not some I do that often but these were YS Dorset lamb from W*itrose meat counter and was lovely lamb

Sounds as though we both need bubble wrap (or gin:rotfl:) hope your joints are easier tomorrow <gentle hugs>>
And if the gin doesn't work I may need a man with a gun to shoot me  I'm sure I must have read somewhere that gin was good for joint pain :rotfl: I may experiment over the weekendLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I had a very early night (in bed by 10) and just realised that I am ravenous.
It's a high protein day for me so I had half a tin of baked beans, tofu scramble (vegan scrambled eggs) on a bed of lettuce, carrots, tomatoes and half a sliced avocado. Yummy!:)
I think I'm quietly falling to bits, must have pulled a muscle pot shifting yesterday and my lower back is very painful, I have a blocked tear duct so my eye is all swollen, my balance went awol while I was washing my hair and the icing on the cake was getting a horrible deep splinter! Think I've failed my MOT!!;) Consequently I have had a fairly gentle day though trying to keepHope you feel better soon.

Good morning everyone,
I'm still "creaky" today so planning an easish day just pottering about. I "rescued" a carved camphor wood trunk from my Dd's that is needing a load of tlc, I work on it seated so a good project to keep me occupied as it's cold & damp outdoors. It's supposed to brighten up later before dropping below freezing overnight, if the sun comes out I have more non-bendy stuff that is needing done in the garden. Tempting though it is just to loll on the sofa I know keeping moving is the best thing for both my back & my balance in the long run though I will have a snooze after lunch as usual:).
Lunch will be a repeat of yesterday's fish stick & salad open sandwich with a mug of HM soup. After mentioning pollock yesterday I've a notion for some. I think I'll dip it in milk and paprika seasoned flour then quickly fry it. There's a bit of cauli cheese left I can have with it and I'll steam some green beans & asparagus as well.0 -
Seems creakiness is the order of the day around here, my back is "improving so hope everyone's eases as well
Fire Fox, sounds like your preferred food options are similar to mine, but even so a bargain pack of bacon or chicken ping meal may arrive on my table, guess I'm fairly fortunate around here there are plenty of high welfare food options, even if I don't always use them
Into L's this morning, shades of PN buy it, then it's on offer. Baking spuds now on offer having bought some on Tuesday.:( Bought another pack anyway, they'll keep
BTW PN, L's cheese on offer next weekend, just the mild Cheddar
Still stuff I fail to find since the reorganise, honey lost, probably in with frozen veg I expect;). I found the mini choc rolls though:D but also offer apples so not all bad
Took some more excess tomato plants in & swapped for more HG rhubarb. That's puds sorted for a few days:)
Lunch was fried egg sarnie, I nearly stopped off at chippy on way home but bit of a queue so drove on by but I'm getting fish withdrawal now with the fishy talk.
I fancy Rock Salmon [dogfish] maybe I'll try & track some down, as nipper coming home from Nan's waiting for the trolley bus, chippy opposite, into there, piece of rock + 3d of chips & scoff waiting for the bus
Dinner tonight? Last of the corned beef I think somehow, could change but corned beef, eggs & frozen chips seems likely CBA optionEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Afternoon gang!
I finished work at lunch time today, ready to start the long weekend.Unfortunately, I've been battling a particularly bad case of conjunctivitis since Tuesday night, which isn't currently showing a lot of signs of clearing up any time soon... I am prone to conjunctivitis, in that I get it a couple of times a year, but this is the worst dose I remember. My left eye particularly is a hum-dinger!
I'm being militant with the eye drops, as well as taking painkillers every 4 hours, which helps. I'll be taking it very gently this weekend, because I really need to be "fixed" by Tuesday, because I'm off down to London for 2 nights of fun and theatre, and could do without any medical issues, as I've been looking forward to it for months.
My only current plan for the weekend is a trip to get the car washed tomorrow morning, and will probably stop in at the garden centre for a coffee.
Today I had a snacky lunch, but it was quite a lot... I've got tutoring on the other side of town at 7... So I might just have some crisps or something before I go, and something else when I get home. I'm not sure I'll want a huge meal tonight, as my appetite is a bit off.Because it's fun to have money!

Good evening everyone,
Hope your eyes settle over the weekend flubberyzing <<hugs>>
The weather didn't really improve so no gardening for me today. I did get cracking on with the trunk though to discovery it is seriously dirty with many, many years of a less than lovely polish, dust and nicotine build up _pale_. My Dad stopped smoking 15 years ago but before that both my parents were heavy smokers as were the original owners my great aunt & uncle. It's going to be a long job to get it looking lovely again but worth it as it is lovely piece from the 1920s early 30s (or a bit before) which is beautifully but very intricately carved so lots of grime gathering nooks and cranies. Apart from a bit of fading on the top and a very tiny chip on one side it is in really good condition. The fading will be fairly easy to deal with and the chip not easily seen so with a bit of time & effort I can hopefully get it back to looking stunning.
My sis popped round for a cuppa & a catch up early evening and just about managed to avoid the hail showers some have been quite heavy and it's turned really chilly. I'm glad I set the stove up earlier so just needed to light it this evening. I think the heating will be getting set to come on for a bit tomorrow morning, I've had it off as it's not been needed but I don't fancy a cold bathroom for my morning shower.
Slight change of plan on the dinner plan, rather than flour & fry the pollock it's been baked under the remaining cauli cheese in a sort of gratin. Asparagus & french beans just need a quick steam in the nuker and dinner will be good to go. As it's Friday a glass of red has been poured:)0 -
Evening All
Caronc looks like you're going to be busy for a while.. I really wanted my granddad's 'blanket' box it's very plain and simple but i loved it's smell when opened
it was our toy box when we were little, unfortunately my sister got in first when we cleared the bungalow. I have offered to take it off her hands but she uses it as a coffee table as well as storage
Flubberzing hope the eye is improving
Looks to me like we could all do with warmer weather unfortunately all we're due is a cold weekend. I'm still aching enough be [STRIKE]slightly[/STRIKE] grumpy and perhaps not quite as tolerant as I should be with others so just as well it's Friday I think I shocked the boss with my loud !!!!!! over our System testing, there are so many problems, IT fix one and in doing so causes another
the aches will settle down and until then I'll stop moaning [STRIKE]maybe[/STRIKE]
Lunch was the last of the smoke mackerel salad and dinner pork and mushroom stroganoff with asparagus, runner beans and new potatoes. There's LOs of course :cool:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Nearly time.... to go out and buy chips.
It's that loooooong dead bit between when you wake up/get up at 3-4am ... and when the shops open
I think today's urgent food shopping will be chips, sausage rolls, mini cheesecakes and a packet of sweeties. Oh, need bread too.PN, L's cheese on offer next weekend, just the mild Cheddar
Cheers for the heads up.
I'm usually one for extra mature, but I might try it on price. Who knows... there might not actually be that much difference between mature and mild. See if I remember/CBA when it comes.
I just looked, they've got the 4 cod fillets on offer this weekend, I've been eyeing those up for over a month -and- I've been fancying a bit of fish for awhile... so I might get those in ... 20 minutesI want the batter ones ideally. Four for £1.69 isn't bad at all though...
