Back and a bit annoyed. Went to L. Absolutely NO YS whatsoever.

BUT ... I was in there to get the weekend offer cod and couldn't find it. I thought I found the cod in the cabinet, but it's not the right one as it was £2.09. The offer one is £2.49 reduced to £1.69. So had to leave it. They did have chips and sausage rolls though ... and cheesecake and sweeties.

I also looked for sparkling water (17p/2 litres) - none whatsoever, not even a label for it.

That's a bummer PN, one thing wrong with L's so higgledy piggledey and unrelated items poked everywhere. The liquid soap in mine is hidden behind a pillar

I'm same as you with cheese, prefer the strong stuff but will try anything at "right" price

Cold day today, sunny but North wind doth blow, I'm keeping the French beans & tomatoes inside today, there's a big difference between hardening off & killing them

    Porridge for breakfast
Lunch, no idea, probably cheese sarnie

I've taken a salmon fillet out to defrost, maybe dinner tonight with chips & salad

While rummaging I found some diced free range Dexter beef, that's also out defrosting for tomorrow's planned stew thing

    Good morning everyone,
What a shame your SM trip was as fruitful as you had hoped PN, especially with you being there first thing.:(
Bright but really cold here today, the wind is bitter. I do hope to get some stuff done outdoors today so hope it warms up a bit. My back is still giving me bother so I'll be avoiding bendy stuff and lifting but there is still quite a bit I can be getting on with. Hanging baskets survived the freezing temperatures overnight thankfully but looking at the forecast it will be a few days yet before I'll risk planting anything out.
The last of the fish sticks with salad for lunch and chicken some way tonight as I've a portion defrosting.

I had houmous, carrot sticks and a couple of crackers with PB for breakfast.

I'm having the new Quorn fish thing for lunch with a big salad and some olives.:)

  • Have used soupmaker again and so far it has not blown my fuse, only dare use on weekend when next doors are in to reset fuse for me. That will be a couple or three servings using up some veggies. Making some corned beef/potatoes and beetroot patties (using up beetroot bought in pack of 4 which I like and only 2 left) so will see how they are, for tonight and maybe freezer too. Some cauliflower to finish off too.

I'm relieved to report that my eyes are doing quite a bit better today... so far! It's late afternoon/evening that they get worse...
If they've been at 100% awfulness the past 3 days... I'd say today they're at about 60%, which is moving in the right direction.
I've moved to every 4 hours for the eye drops now, and will keep it up until I head off to London on Tuesday morning.

Today, in terms of food, I had a coffee and a panini at the garden centre, while my car got washed. I'm too lazy/it's too much faff to do it myself, so I'm quite happy to pay a man a tenner every 3 months to do it instead!
I had another coffee and a few biccies for a late lunch, along with 2 hotdogs I bought last Friday, that I really need to polish off this weekend... There's only 2 left now. 30 seconds in the microwave and they're a quick snack.
I've got pizza in the freezer for later... Will see how I feel. I've been a bit "off" regular meals the last few days (no doubt because of the germs and antibiotics of this eye infection), so I'm just trying to eat what I feel like eating. I'm a firm believer in your body telling you what it needs - especially when you're a bit under the weather. So it doesn't matter if I only feel like a bowl of cereal for dinner. The pizza will keep. I did buy some eggs earlier, as I seem to still like those, when I'm a bit off everything else. So we'll see!

Same here, far easier to pay a tenner than faff around, especially with my back & lack of bendy
Ditto food, been said before, one plus of CFO is eat what you want when you want. I was a bit "Off food" but cereal & choc biscuits found a space

The salmon & beef had defrosted by lunchtime, so I got on and made my beef stew in the cast iron pot, currently on low in the oven.
Fire Fox on ethical food front, this beef was New Forest free range, walking around with the ponies all it's life. The meat does look gorgeous.
I'll turn it off later & leave overnight to mature then reheat with dumplings for Sunday dinner.

Lunch was cheese & cucumber sarnie
Dinner will be salmon fillet gently fried in butter & olive oil, with bog standard frozen chips to spoil my wholefood halo:o

My YS 10p Lavetera has revived, I think it'll make it, re-potted and now in convalescence

Managed to get out & clear area around apple tree, I've got long handled shears so bending was not involved, and watered my plum in it's pot, that is looking good with all it's plumlets swelling

Nice smell of beef stew permeating the house:j
The rhubarb crumble is out of oven, looks lush, I'll have some later, just remembered I forgot to buy more custard:( But I think I've got a few Brexit tins stashed somewhere:D

An odd thing happened.... earlier I bought a regular 6-pack of sausage rolls.

I took two out, cooked them, ate them. Absolutely, definitely did that. Two. No more, no less. Two. Put the pack back in the fridge.

Just got the pack out to re-heat two more and my eyes/brain went "one, two", looked at the packet ... and there are three left!

I must've got a pack where their machine went wonky and put 7 in the pack! What a bonus :)

Older twin dd came round this afternoon. I made us a home made lean burger, healthy potato wedges with peas and banana pancakes for after as the bananas were going brown.

DD helped me move a load of baby stuff from downstairs to the upstairs bedroom and it is now stowed away out of sight. I have been trying to get round to that for weeks so am very chuffed. Jackets are outside to dry and a machine load of laundry has just finished so will festoon the radiators later. DD set off back with some banana pancakes, fruit, diet drinks , mug shots and shower gel.

My dds all seem to be away for the weekend so looks as if I just have to cook for myself for the next few days so will freezer dive later. Think I have chicken breasts, small packs of mince and hopefully steak so will try to manage without popping to the shop if I can.

I found some good offers on showers gels at Sup***rug so placed an online order as some things were half price or better and it would be rude not to.

I had to read this twice originally I was wondering why were you freezing beer :o. It's definitely worth buying better quality meat, I was hoping to pick up some venison in the farmers market as they will soon stop shooting until Autumn but just missed him I think the weather meant they were all packing up early, it's local wild deer and not farmed :)

It seems I get a deal with my car washing £7 for the Polish guys behind the petrol station I reckon time I factor in my water meter it's not quite that much :D

Glad your eyes are getting better Flubberzing :)

I had a easy morning a bit of light housework and a couple of loads of washing, I didn't sleep very well and was still awake at 2am, then heard my neighbour leave at 7am. I walked into town with my sister after lunch, I think we have your cold north wind Farway :(. She brought me some sandals for that yearly event I will be trying to avoid on Monday ;). We shared a slice of millionaires shortbread from the chocolate shop cafe with a free chocolate each with our cup of tea as well :D I just got home in time for the hail storm but looking out of the back window at the black sky I fear we could be due another one any minute

Lunch after a quick freezer rummage was cod goujons in a wrap with salad. Dinner LO pork stroganoff and veg.
