Found on offer swedes in Morries, 50p, I don't use swede as side veg so this one will last until Christmas, or go mouldy
Plus milk & suet bought, and somehow a pack of jam doughnuts, YS sausage rolls & 2 YS cottage pies [50p each, stable to table recipe;)]

    Doughnuts opened & sampled:o, pies in freezer:money:

Made the beef casserole jobby, finally cleared out & used the last of my 2017 HG cherry toms from freezer.
Casserole now in the oven on low gas & smelling delish. Dumplings will be added later

Sounds like a good haul! I've bought swedes before, usually when they're 39p at Aldi as one of the super six.... then I don't get round to it - and end up quickly cooking it and sticking it in the freezer, where it lurks for many more weeks/months until I use it up just because I'm fed up of seeing it in there :)

I like it .... love it ... I just don't seem to be cooking the sort of food it goes with when I've got one in the house. Nice, sliced, alongside mash and carrots and gravy with a big meaty pie :)

Hope you enjoyed your niece's birthday Candy :)

Started on tidying the cupboard under the stairs this morning but after banging my head several times I gave up for now, I really need to pull every thing out which is always a chore :eek: so made chicken soup instead, it was only a small chicken so I added one of the legs in as well, which will mean I wouldn't start clucking by Wednesday :rotfl:

I was going to walk after lunch with my sister but the rain/hail joined the strong wind over lunch so I just popped round to hers for a cuppa, although the rain did stop it was too windy for me to walk far without upsetting my asthma, well that was my excuse ;)

Lunch was the last two boiled eggs mixed with salad cream and used to top crispbreads with sliced tomatoes. Dinner was something called Gong Bao chicken, I used the LO chicken breast, it was a really easy Tesco recipe and to be really lazy I pinged a rice and quinoa sachet :). LOs of course as I used both breast so that's tomorrow's dinner sorted as well :)

Yesterday I appear to have had a bit of a scoff-fest!

    I had the Yorkie/filled with sausages/mash/peas.
I ate all three portions of the Angel Delight.
I then made sausages, mash, beans.
I then had a bit of toast with chocolate spread.

That's two days of food really. Oh well :)

I could/might/should defrost the freezer today. What's in there can be popped into a small cool bag in the fridge.

Have to see if the urge to do that turns up :)

  • L/o portion of lentil & sausage, just enough to go in jacket for lunch, had small portion curried stew from freezer yesterday lunch and an Iceland frozen salmonfillet (not very thick but I am not very fishy) with a spicy couscous crust and broccilli last night but went to get some toast and cheese later as still hungry. Trying to eat more lentil type foods so a portion of chicken rolled up with ham - got a fancy name but I cannot remember - out of freezer with barley tonight plus frozen veg. Actually wanting some chips but last 2 lunches out have been meat with salad and have been great and b'day tomorrow and dd have asked me for tea so more healthy stuff as she on mega diet then sometime this week will be going for lunch with friends soon and will def. have chips then!!!!!!!!!!!.

I've nuked the spare portion of mac cheese I made on Saturday. I weighed it, to see how much was in it, 350g. A Sainsbobs basics one weighs 300g and their Italian range weighs 400g, so it is a "full/proper portion", just a tad smaller than the piggy portion I ate when I first made it :)

I'd decanted it into a microwave lidded mug, so nuked it in that, then squirted some brown sauce in and ate it from the mug. Minimum washing up :)

    Good afternoon everyone,

Bright and cold here today but to get windy and wintry again later and more or less stay that way for the next week.
I'm back to CFO for a few days until my elder son, his fiancee and her Mum come to visit for a few days.
On Saturday my son made us pork ramen for dinner and yesterday we had an Indian takeaway. There was five of us and for once we managed not to over order so apart from some rice we had no LOs:).
Today lunch was a corned beef and pickle sandwich with veg stick and a cupasoup. Dinner is still to be decided but something easy to prep.

LO casserole now in oven heating through on low, I'll pop some dumplings in later, but try & limit the number today
Yesterday dumpling overload was because I made the mix too slushy with excess water, so needed more flour to balance it, IYSWIM

I've used the LO pork up, some in a pork & piccalilli sarnie at lunchtime, rest now sliced & frozen

Car insurance sorted, no wonder some suppliers complain about Internet shopping, saved £60 with a couple of clicks:money:
Never would have done that with ringing round, or walking round, brokers and taking hours to do so

Caron, windy here with Yellow weather tomorrow, storm Gareth this time:(
I was thinking of doing a spot of weeding around one of the tubs, maybe put some strawberries in?
Thinking is about as far as I got even though it was over 70f in my conservatory, where luncheon was taken;)

Our conservatory is always freezing in Winter and sweltering in Summer so I now have fitters installing roof insulation. They arrived at 12.30 and it would be great if they could finish today as I would like to visit DD and baby tomorrow.

A meat delivery is due tomorrow so I will defrost a small freezer tonight and rearrange food in the second small freezer so there is space to freeze most of it. Some of it will go in the fridge and dd can take some home when she comes round on Friday. Just remembered her out laws are coming at the weekend so am not sure what would be most useful for her in that case, maybe some chicken breasts and she can do dinner party chicken with veg and baked potato or wedges.

I managed to wash a super king duvet set this morning and lug it out to the garden to try to dry in the fresh air so fingers crossed. Dishwasher has done its thing and a beef and veg stew has just finished cooking in the pressure king pro.
