    Evening all!

I was out with the larks this morning, to the sorting office to collect a book I'd ordered, then a pop into Sainsburys for milk and a pizza.
Breakfast was coffee and biccies, then an early lunch of a cheese and onion sandwich, as I want to try and polish off the loaf of bread I started on Monday. To my surprise, it's still good enough for sandwiches, but you know what bread's like. Once it starts to go, it goes quick!
I've got a frozen pizza for my tea. Italian chicken, or some such thing. I've had it a couple of times now, and it's nice. Goodfellas brand I think.

Might have another cheese and onion sandwich for supper, and that'll be the bread finished. Bit of an odd choice for a supper, but it's sometimes the nature of cooking for one!

I'll probably do a Lidl run tomorrow for my weekly shop. There are still things I can only get in Tesco, so I won't stop going there.
Lidl is a bit further away, but I can get more for my money, and cheaper as well. So in my current era of penny-pinching, it seems daft not to. Plus I've not yet encountered anything that wasn't just as good as the Tesco version.
Because it's fun to have money!

    Good evening everyone,
I have a breadmaker in the cupboard and got on ok with it though but haven't used it since I got the Kenwood with a dough hook. It takes the stress out of kneading and I prefer the results. That said I don't make much bread now I'm CFO as I just eat too much of it:o so usually tend to make some when I've folk coming round for dinner.
There's been some fierce wind and rain here this afternoon. The rain has died back but it still very windy and it blinking freezing. I reckon the wind chill is bringing the temperature well into the minuses. I felt sorry for the chap working on the shared fence he must have been frozen but he wasn't letting the weather stop him getting on.:)
Lunch was the planned BLT as the bacon is about to go out of date that may well feature again tomorrow. I was a messy pup though and managed to splatter my top with tomato juice, mayo and bacon fat when the filling escaped.....:o
Chicken & veg are ready to go in the oven, I'm going with cauli, sweet potato, red onion and mini corn cob.:)

Bread looked really good Farway :) I can't eat too much bread so a bread maker is a no no for me as it would be too dangerous ;). I very occasionally make a loaf from hand as I find the kneading can be very therapeutic, especially when someone has annoyed me :rotfl:

Quiet day at home today pottering, I was going to walk to town but cba, at least it meant I spent nothing . I did prep veg for soup making tomorrow and made a large pan of root veg mash to use up swede, carrot, parsnip, turnip and celeriac which had been lurking for awhile I'll freeze it in portions later.

My neighbour's house has gone on the market the family just want to get rid of it ASAP so have just cleared it, I imagine a builder will buy it as it needs central heating, double glazing, new kitchen and bathroom as well as decorating throughout, it's also crying out for an extension to the side. We shall see, I wanted to have a nosy at the details but it's not on line yet, even on the EA website so will have to wait.

Lunch was boiled egg and soldiers and dinner was a stir fry using beef feather steak and loads of vegetables, there was so much veg I skipped the noodles or rice tonight.

Your stir fry sounds lovely Brambling:), I was thinking a beef and broccoli one might be on the cards as I have round steak left and a huge head of broccoli in the fridge. I've no oyster sauce at the moment but sure I can manage one without it:rotfl:

It was both tasty and healthy, it's amazing now much you can stir fry using just a teaspoon of oil :) As I grated ginger, chilli and garlic into it i just mixed rice wine, soy sauce and a little tomato ketchup for sauce element.

I always think a little oil goes so far in a stir fry, anymore than a smidgeon and it just tastes greasy. I do like a splash of sesame oil stirred through at the end though.:)

Freya's early fringe has arrived here, and getting worse as day goes by, good job I did what I needed out yesterday, no pottering out today

Could be catch up with library mags, some free on line here, or maybe finish of High Castle?

    Breakfast was usual porridge

I've taken some cooked beef slices out to defrost, so they will form base of lunchtime sarnie

Dinner? It's really a pie / stew sort of day, but I'm out tomorrow, mass crocus at RHS Wisley, weather being well, so could be pub pie as well, nothing wrong with double pies but I prefer to space them, I'm not one for following all this whatever weeks stuff but
    it's http://www.national-awareness-days.com/british-pie-week/ from tomorrow:j

PS, one of today's highlights, change bedding:rotfl:

  • making special effort with freezers, took 2 mini lamb chops out for dinner tonight plus some roast pot + parsnips, a little of the frozen mash to add to almost mt pkt of dried mash and will get veg from freezer. Also taken 1 Inspiration fish out for lunch with some lettuce - no other salad stuff until tomorrow eve delivery. Used a sort of mix between veg curry/soup last night, forgot how nice it had been, got a small tub still in freezer. just enough for a lunch not a dinner. Must do something with some frozen chicken cubes + veg but I just know it will end up as about 4 meals again. Oh dear. Will be eating out a few times in next couple of weeks as it will be my birthday, Yay
