Cooking for one (Mark Three)

Good morning everyone,
Thanks for the good wishes:)
I'm feeling a bit more like it this morning though have no desire to move about unduly. Replenishing my freezer stash of soup etc. will be a task for another time.
whmf - sorry I missed that you were poorly, hope your cold is better today <<hug>>
puffintail - good you have your pooches for company, I'm sure you'll quickly work out what works for you CFO wise. I find a mix of "big pot/batch" cooking and stand alone meals work best for me. I'm not a huge fan of eating the same thing several days in a row (apart from soup at lunch time)but make use of my freezer space so I can still enjoy food that only really works being made in bigger amounts.:)
I'll be sticking to easy options today again assuming my grocery order arrives as planned it will be a crusty roll with salad for lunch and an oven "bung it in" tonight. I've ordered a pack of potato waffles so a couple of them may well feature.:)0 -
Ah SunnyGirl I absolutely can relate - I finished a postgrad via distance learning in December - since I began my OU undergrad in 2010 I haven't stopped studying until now! Only in the very last couple of assignments did I learn how to finish without being a 'last minute wonder' :rotfl: why, oh why, did I put myself through that much pressure?!
Big win for the student discounts, though, I think they got me through. Boots have just started doing 10% off, Superdrug have long done the same (sometimes 20%) and I also indulge in a Spotify account (£4.99 p/m) and Amazon Prime (£39 p/y), Plus some Co-Op's do it too (great when they have offers on, less so when things are regular priced). I've lost count of the other times I have managed to get 10% off of things I genuinely needed/wanted to buy. Wishing you ALL the productivity
Oh my goodness I LOOOOOVE chocolate fingers, PasturesNew, strong choice! I think the veg chilli sounds like a perfect contender for the slow cooker (looking forward to using mine for similar, and the pulled pork made in it is SO good!)Debt as of Feb 2025

I've just got in from a walk up to Costas and the garden centre for my "weekend treat". I'd normally go on a Saturday, but I promised a friend I go to hers tomorrow morning, and help her out with her twins (they turned 2 in January, and are a bit of a handful at the moment), even if that just means playing with them while she has a peaceful coffee!
I'll probably skip lunch, as I had a coffee and panini in Costa - will probably just have a coffee and a few biccies - then will have an early-ish tea, as I've got tutoring to go to tonight for 7pm, which'll mean leaving home at 6:30ish. My other 4 kids I tutor are having the week off for half-term, but this one's parents wanted her to keep going. They are by far the pushiest of them all. She's hoping to go Rugby School (yes, THAT Rugby School) when she turns 13... She passed the interview stage very recently, but will still have to sit the Common Entrance exam, which is tough to do.Because it's fun to have money!

Smoothie for breakfast and then I had an avocado and tomato roll.
I'm going to make soup later and then have a veg stir fry with rice tonight.
I cooked up a lot of rice yesterday and put it in glass containers in the fridge.:)
Or CBA utter lazy and just eat pizza watching Netflix?
What do you watch on Netflix? What would you recommend?
I have it but always forget I have it. I don't know if it's worth the money, really.0 -

Home Bargains do a nifty 350g bag for just 79p
That's 22p/100g -v- the Cadbury price that varies between 70p and £1.10 per 100g depending on pack size.... and they're probably the same thing0 -

I know that feeling of leaving things to the last minute but I only did it once  I wrote a 2500 word essay in one day and ended up getting 81% for it, probably because I'd been doing all the reading and research for weeks beforehand. Too much stress though so I try and do a good few hours a week on each assignment. I'm doing a criminology degree and it's taught in a 'short and fat' manner. We have 3 modules each semester, each with 2 essays, a presentation and an exam so it's a lot. I love student discounts at the Co-op especially

That's a lot of pressure on one young girl but hopefully you'll be able to help her through the Common Entrance.PasturesNew wrote: »Home Bargains do a nifty 350g bag for just 79p
This is a fatal thing you have posted here PN!! I am just about to go on my errands and Home Bargains is on my list..... I predict that a few packs of choccie fingers are going to be bought. I have little willpower as well so a lot may be eaten :rotfl:0 -
Cold & misty start for the day, hope your drive to work on those winding roads was not badly affected brambling
Usual pop into L's this morning, found a jar of their cheery jam that someone here recommended, that's one small jar for me & one giant leap for ice cream topping;)
YS luck was in, ready made fresh fruit salads, 20p clear out, pud sorted for next couple of days, plus YS diced beef 30% off, dinner sorted as well
Lunch was fried egg sarnie, they are getting very near death date so I need to crack on eating them [pun intended]:D
I was two minds on using or freezing the steak, but dull day so the YS diced steak, it's the nice no fat or gristle one that L do, made into a casserole thingy with usual suspects, carrot, celery etc
That's in t'oven in the ex manky cast iron pot
I may pop a couple of dumplings in later
Now of course sun is out, but a nice smell from kitchen, may even neutralise the fishy pong lingering thereWednesday2000 wrote: »What do you watch on Netflix? What would you recommend?

Currently boldly going with Star-trek new series, and dipping in & out of House of Cards. But I've been lured when I mistakenly opted into free trial of Prime, and now currently seeking the Man in the High Castle
Bit like you, torn, as not sure it's worth it for the little I watch it, I may cancel NF when Prime needs paying for, then return to NF later. I use the monthly plan so no problems dipping in & out as requiredEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Oh, yes, my husband told me that Star Trek had started, I didn't realise it was on there.:A
I watched the first episode of House of Cards and wasn't that interested. It seemed a little smug for some reason. After what happened with Kevin Spacey I'm not sure I would bother now!
Hmm, I will have to think if it's worth it as I have Amazon Prime too.2025 GOALS
