Hi Puffintail and Uncannyscot :wave: we won't dream of thinking Scots just fry everything, Caronc wouldn't let us
Welcome back Flubberzing, hope you're enjoying a half term break
Caronc WHMF hope you're both feeling better
PN ouch re the teeth angle delight substitute or ice cream? Maybe scrambled eggs or will it hurt as it's hot
It felt like spring had arrived when I had my lunchtime walk, I really didn't want to go back to work as it was so niceactually even if it's raining I often don't want to go back to work
. The warmer weather meant Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast rather than porridge.
Lunch was HM soup the last of which has been squeezed into the freezer. Dinner was pork steaks with bubble and squeak and a dollop of piccalilli. I brought the pork YS and I think I'll stick to the usual pork chops in the future even though I had two steak as they were very thin I think some of the problem was I over cooked them a little bit :cool:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good evening everyone,
Welcome to Puffintail and Uncannyscot and welcome back to flubberyzing:)
Stable door was not as firmly closed as I had hoped (for any confused new posters I call my health condition the "wonky donkey";)) and I've had another kicking:(, though did manage today to spend marginally more time vertical, shower and sort out a grocery delivery so progress:).
I haven't had a proper read back, but sorry you're still suffering with tooth pain PN - have you tried Oragel- it's around £3 and well worth it?
Omelette maker - you can make a decent omelette in a toasted sandwich maker but not sure if the reverse applies:cool:
Food has very much been "thank goodness for batch cooking" though I've more or less used up my soup reserves:eek:. Tonight it's another freezer rake of smoked sausage/veg/bean stew with pitta.0 -

Good evening all.
Welcome to Puffintail and Uncannyscot Be warned though that we often encourage each other to eat unhealthy things
I've been busy with uni essays today so cooking has been minimal. No breakfast apart from the usual 3 cups of coffee. 2 poached eggs on 2 slices of toast for lunch and spaghetti with butter, fresh tomatoes, olives and garlic stirred through which was very tasty. I've also had several crunch cream biscuits and a cup of hot chocolate as I found a forgotten jar hidden behind the coffee tin today. It fulfilled my chocolate cravings very nicely this evening :T
Am going to make some soup tomorrow as I'm down to my last portion in the freezer now. Possibly a spiced sweet potato one, a tomato one or another lentil one. I'll decide in the morning.
Caron sending hugs to you xxx
Uncannyscot I'm a huge fan of batch cooking and make more than one meal deliberately most of the time. Then I don't have to cook from scratch for a whileLooking forward to sharing ideas with you.
Puffintail Good that your break up was amicable and long may that continue.
Well I'm tucked up in bed now with radio 4 and the Kindle with some books downloaded on to it so I shall have a read soon.0 -

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Echoing UncannyScot, thank you for the welcome everyone
I really do count my blessings, SunnyGirl, break ups are so difficult and dealing with the practicalities can be an absolute nightmare. I've been very fortunate that we have both been able to support each other.
Sounds ridiculous but, even at 31, I don't feel adult enough to own a house on my own :rotfl: owning with someone else feels more comfortable somehow. My two little dogs don't contribute to the finances or decision making, but they do offer lot's of love, which I'll happily 'make do' with :cheesy:
Amidst the challenges though, I am very excited! Compiling my list of 'CFO' meals as part of my planning for the move (which should be early April :dance:)
So far I am thinking;
* Omelettes (good to get some veg in, side salad, tomatoes, whatever I chuck in the omelette)
* Jacket potatoes (sweet as well as regular) - again, a nice side salad, loads of different possible fillings
* Stir frys
* Bolognese/chilli
I also do a pretty mean chicken thigh and chickpea curry from scratch, thanks to a great friend providing an authentic Indian recipe :T - my main goal is getting into a pattern of meals that include a decent bit of veg, too easy to default to cheese on toast, beans on toast or weetabix (definitely fine for evening meal, right...)

Good morning all
Puffintail My weekend will consist of finishing one essay, hopefully, and starting the prep for the second one. The one I've been working on this week is a small one - 1500 words - but it's more difficult to be critical in so few words. I'll finish it today and will edit and beautify it tomorrow. Sunday I'm being taken out for lunch by my daughter who at 26 seems to have her life more together than me at times :rotfl:
Soup making will be happening at some stage today and I've decided on tomato as I have some fresh but slightly wrinkly tommys in the fridge plus tinned tomatoes, celery and carrots. I usually get 6 portions so will freeze them and that'll keep me going for a while. I like soup for lunch several days a week if possible.
So lunch will be cheese and chutney on toast with or without soup and dinner is a homemade chicken curry (from the freezer) with rice. I am in the mood for some jelly and fruit and will make some to keep in the fridge for snacks. Easy enough to do with a tin of fruit in juice and a jelly - my favourite combo is pear and black cherry jelly.
I need to run a few errands this morning and may liberate some ice cream from the shelf at my Tesco Express as it seems to be on offer0 -
Yesterday I ended up having jam on toast (lovely cheapish Asda blackcurrant jam) ... and spuds/beans/cheese. Some chocolate fingers were eaten too - and the 2nd bag of chocs finished off.
Breakfast this morning, if meals at certain times of the day have names, was 2 chocolate fingers
For food: In the evenings I think of lovely food I could eat .... tomorrow. By the morning, I CBA to go through all that faff
I should've been born rich, with a chef.
I do need to crack on and make a veg chilli, just to get rid of the 500g of carrots I bought to make a beef stew .... which I then changed my mind about and froze the beef.0
