  • I took a melatonin tablet last night and went to bed early as my husband is on the early shift this week. I woke up about 3 feeling like I might get a migraine. I took some headache tablets and tried to go back to sleep but couldn't.

The migraine didn't arrive, luckily! I'm not sure if the melatonin made me grind my teeth in my sleep or something.

I feel starving after being awake for the last 5 hours. I'm making red lentil soup and toast for breakfast.:D

Oh I love roasted chickpeas Wednesday they are so moreish and easy to make. Have you tried chopping some and adding to hummous? I love the crunch they give in that. :)

    No, it sounds nice though.

Hope the head keeps clear Wednesday, up early at least turned out productive for you

Caron, your lurgy seems to be resisting cures, I prescribe chocs & rest

Turned into rain overnight, today is dull, dank & wet so I'll stay in, hardest job planned for today is change my bedding
Keep it quite, don't let the roof hear, but I think my porch roof "fix" of leak by neighbour has worked;) No more damp for the moment

Last night's salmon etc was just right, but needed a bit extra something, and I found a mini syrup pud BBE 06/2018 in cupboard.

Nuked that, plus made a bit of freezer space as per SG and had ice cream on it:)

Today is use up CBA food
    Porridge for breakfast

I've got OOD part baked baguettes, BBE mid Jan, so lunch is bake one of them, open tin of corned beef to fill, maybe with a tomato for health?

Dinner is use up LO cooked veg, may bung some corned beef in the frying pan as well, top with a couple of fried eggs maybe?

  • Oh PN I so agree, with everything. For years I have been telling people that there is too much choice, I just want a loaf of bread/milk/washing powder etc etc. I love a gadget but do loads of research, online and friends, then put add on Freecycle etc dotry for free or cheapo - |I might end up buying one from Lidl. I had a halogen but did not replace, have a soupmaker which I like but it had a moment of tripping my fuse and had to get neighbour to come and reset (its by the ceiling and I am old). if I do buy something it has to earn its keep, my foodmixer must be about 30yrs old, do not use it much now but great for special offer cheddar, can grate loads for freezer, that another thing, the freezer eats more than I do. Love my SC, use small one EVERY day for porridge, with timer, have a larger one for the odd time I want to do a small joint of ham etc and even an oval one, lamb shanks. Do not use the oval one often now so that in a box on the shelf in downstairs bathroom, the middle one a little more and thats on top of the fridge next to the breadmake in the utility area of said bathroom. I do not use breadmaker often but do like to, its just that as it dries up quickly I end up slicing and feeding the freezer again. Ref the too spicy soup, I froze in small blocks and add to casserole in SC, also with the flat scones, use as scone type toppings. Thanks for the idea of flattening the pastry, I always cut into 4 but never thought of bashing them flat, I might be more inclined to use then as I too get fed up with faff.

Well, today changed .... had a viewing booked, so it was "both hands on deck" to get the house ship-shape, cleaned, tidied, things hidden, things moved, change the towels, put out new loo rolls, polish the sinks ..... and just as I was in the final throes of effort .... phone rang and it's been cancelled.

If I'd not had a viewing I'd have planned some SC meal today ... now I could do it I'm not mentally prepared... although I might turn those 3 lurking apples into an apple sponge cake soon....

I've just eaten 1½ rounds of tomato sandwiches; I'd made two rounds for the fridge over the weekend and had eaten one half a round late last night... so just finished those off.

Trouble is.... when I removed the sandwiches from the fridge the leftover portions of mince/veg I made in the SC the other day were right in front of me, reminding me I have to do something with that.... I guess ... I might nuke half with a dumpling .... and I am undecided yet if I should freeze the remaining portion or just eat that tomorrow.... with another dumpling. But then, all this focus on dumplings, don't forget I've got spuds and carrots to get through too ... and the loaf that's dated today ... and the two remaining tomatoes that need to be eaten.

Always something that needs to be eaten....

Freezing here today though; cold/wet/windy - a nice stew/dumps will be a bit of a treat at least :)

Given "free rein" over food .... I rather fancied a cheese flan & chips with beans.... but I can't make that for 1-2 days due to the other food needing to be used up first.

    Good afternoon everyone,

I got this morning feeling grotty, with a swollen mouth and a pus filled lump between my gum and cheek but no dental pain. One trip to the dentist later and yes I have a soft tissue abscess but it appears to have spread from my throat as no obvious dental cause. I do need a filling replaced but not near the infected area. Anyway have antibiotics and back next week for x-rays. If nothing tooth related showing they will let my GP know they have treated a throat abscess. Afterwards I had a real notion for a tin of Heinz tomato soup so as I was in town popped into Farmfoods for some which I'm now having for lunch with toast & pate. I'm having dhal from the freezer with spinach and egg for dinner.

Yes, it really does. I get mine from Biovea. Start on a low dose.

The only side effect is often nightmares!

Yes, but it was OK as I do need to "keep on top of all things" just in case there's a short-notice call... it's done now.

The thing is, I start planning round one several days ahead... e.g. I deliberately haven't done any washing as washing draped on airers is another item to manage/remove from the house and tidy away if somebody's coming; I specifically didn't cook anything with a strong smell since Saturday ... it's that sort of stuff that gets "out of sync with what one'd have chosen" ...

Caron You poor thing! No wonder you've been feeling run down and grotty. I second Faraway's prescription of chocolate, ice cream and anything that makes you feel better at the moment.

Back from uni a bit earlier than usual as the tutorial this afternoon was only if anybody wanted specific help with the next essay. I didn't as I've already done a plan, references and seen the lecturer so could come home :D

I ate my cheese and chutney sandwich and banana in the car as I was driving and have now got a cup of tea and am about to start this weeks reading and prep work.

Not much else on really apart from I want to clean the oven so have given it a spray with kitchen cleaner and am letting it soak for an hour or so.

Weather much milder today for a change although we are forecast -1 tonight so normal de-icing service will be resumed in the morning.

Tea tonight will be a cheat packet of mushroom risotto from Aldi with stir fried onion and yellow pepper and some tuna for the protein aspect. I'll make tomorrow's lunchtime sandwich with the other half of the tin while I'm there. More ice cream may be liberated..... I think I can hear it shouting for freedom now actually :rotfl:

Working in pairs again:D I fancied same last week and nearly bought a 6 pack on offer, the only thing that stopped me was lack of shopping trolley room. Now I MUST BUY, has to one of the 57 though, not found any to match it

Hope the gums clears, you can always suck chocolate if difficulty chewing:)

Enjoyed my baguette lunch, I had sliced tom in as well

Dinner on target, frying pan on standby

I'm starting to fancy chippy fish & chips, if this weather keeps up that could be on the menu sometime this week
