Good job you made that cake! How timely :)

I'm surprised Bunty had/used those! VERY VERY posh items for her lifespan!

My mum was given a boiled fruitcake recipe at work - typed out on the works' typewriters ... then laminated with the office machine :)

She used it every time... but the last time she made it it all went horribly wrong. Dad was "helping her", I didn't realise at this stage that she had dementia... and they either omitted the flour entirely, or put only 1/4 of it in... I think they omitted it entirely in their "combined confusion"..... so I ate this brick of eggy/fruit stuff, mum was sad it was rubbish and I was eating it and saying it tasted lovely! :(

For breakfast this morning, I decided to go for a cooked breakfast, which I've not had for weeks.... but I only cooked 2 hash browns, beans and 2 scrambled eggs, didn't add sausages as I thought that was a bit unnecessary. Splash of brown sauce. Black coffee.

Well, yes and no. I did get a bag last week.... found a way to eat two ... and sliced/froze the remaining three on Thursday.... thinking "Ha, thank god that's got rid of those sitting there mocking me".... so these five will probably end up being sliced/frozen in 1-2 days' time.

The thing is .... a pepper's good, but only if you were making something that used it. When your life is perpetually eating food based around "things you have to eat/use up" which is dictated to by "what I picked up that was reduced", you've actually removed ALL choice from your diet.... which is a bummer.

It certainly is. I was also having pepper envy as I use them a lot but hate the green ones so either don’t use the green one in a 99p pack of 3 or buy the red, yellow or orange ones singly at 60p approx each. It’s annoying as you know.

Faraway Thank you for the fruit cake recipe and I also have all ingredients except the spices but may avail myself of a couple of teaspoons when I’m next at my parents :)

Am home from my errands, made the chicken curry and have done my uni work as well, knitting and Netflix is on the cards now I think. I’m a bit down today as it would have been my husbands birthday. A tough day for me and the 3 kids. I’ve spoken to the elder two and we all had a little cry. The youngest hasn’t surfaced yet apparently so I’ll assume he’s still in his bed in Bangor  As long as he’s ok I’m fine though.
  • I had crackers with the last of the vegan cream cheese for breakfast.

I need to lose more weight as I have a concert in 3 weeks. I want to lose half a stone by then.:)

I'm having oven baked jackets with salad and baked beans later. Maybe a green smoothie too.

Wheelie bin has come home:), with added banana skin:(
Actually I don't object to people putting somethings in my bin, better than on the path / verge etc

    Enjoyed lunchtime cheese on toast

SG, I'm sure fruit loaf would be OK without spices, or maybe use similar one from Caron, and diced carrot, add herbs?

Netflix is also calling later, more carp on TV tonight:(

Chop has defrosted, all I need do now is prep, cook & eat

  • I went out to the shop and to feed the birds. They kept flying away but hopefully they will find the food eventually.:D

Not as cold today as the wind is lighter, I still wrapped up warm. I'm having a cup of green tea now, I think you are supposed to have 3 cups a day to help weight loss.

Yes... most people dislike the greens. The mixed bags tend to be three greens at least... and so, by the time they get to the stage of being half price the best ones have invariably been sold.... I checked every bag... all of the half price ones had four green ones and a very small yellow one. I was umm-ing and aah-ing .... but went for it anyway.... just because of the price. I never buy the packs of three because .... although they're all the same size and nice and colourful ... they are a lot pricier overall. I tend to not "buy what I want", but go with price first ... so it was the cheap bag with mostly green ones for me :)
