AWOL Wheelie bin update. I think it has been taken in as an orphan by neighbour a couple of doors down
I had theirs, we all plaster our house numbers on the bins, so I'm guessing they took mine in the dark

Bin men of course never put them back at the house where they found them:mad:

I've no doubt my bin will pop back, the neighbour I think it's with is very helpful so will probably trundle it "home" once he spots it & snow clears

I came across a fruit loaf recipe on t'Internet, I've everything it needs and very likely I'll make one, what could be nicer than HM fruit loaf, with fresh cuppa & looking out at the snow?:)

Go for it.... because next time you fancy/remember it you'll have used up some of those ingredients. It's like a blue moon: remembering a recipe AND having the ingredients in the house!

EDIT 11.40: Just had a quick stir/taste of the stew.... and OMG ... probably the best tasting stew I've ever made/had. It might as well be served for lunch, it'll have been on 5 hours by about 12.30ish... it looks cooked, so, in my books, it is cooked.... no point waiting. Already weighed out the suet/flour to make the dumplings :)

EDIT: Made a single HUGE dumpling, served it with the stew... OMG it was gorgeous. Hard not to go and get another portion :) But I won't....

It is annoying.... it's a good system on paper, doesn't work well in reality. Many bins go missing ... people sneak items into the bins of others (including dog poo bags) .... if you're out when they come it screams "empty house" to burglars .... if it's windy it can cause road mayhem ....

If only binmen actually put the bins back where they got them from.... if they could be relied on to do that it'd be a start.

In the main I don't use their services, I tend to drop it off in small bundles in local shop bins/similar.... say a crumpet-wrapper sized bundle once every 7-10 days or so.... then, if there's more, I'd take it to the tip ... and about twice a year I actually put the bin out, I put it out when I hear them entering my area, I loiter/lurk/watch from a window ... then dash down and grab my bin straight back :) I'm about their second call of the day, so they tend to be here 7.25-7.35 or so.

The tin of chunky soup was just the ticket, and not before time BBE was July 2018:o

I've decided on dinner, the LO roasted chicken lump, with a baked spud & open a tin of beans
MSE / CFO tip, rinsed out soup pan, will use it for the beans:D

    .

Cake made & cooling, it looks lovely, I'll have a slice with a cuppa while listening to GQT at 3
I never remember recipes, they are in PC, and ones I use often are curling up on fridge door, held on with magnets

It is baltic here today! I was rushing home across the park just wanting to get in and warm up. I'm sitting here in my dressing gown and slippers with the portable heater on full blast. Bliss.:)

  • I only had a banana for breakfast and my stomach was rumbling in the reflexology session.:o:o:o

I bought a vegetable pasty thing from Holland & Barrett, it wasn't even that nice but I ate in a few minutes as I was starving.:rotfl: I had a few of those chilli lentil crisps too.

I'm still hungry, I think I'm going to make tomato and basil soup thinking about it. I only have dried basil but I'm not going out again in this weather on the hunt for fresh basil!:D

    Very decadent;)

Spud's in baking, couple of cake slices + butter tested & passed;)

PN, I think why I had ingredients in for cake was because this recipe is pre war, and nothing fancy in it or about it, most exotic was melted butter [I used oil, CBA melting butter brick]

Snow's back:( Doesn't seem to be sticking though

LO chick lump defrosted OK, I could nuke it hot but cold will be fine for me with hot spud & beans

I'm nearly out of fresh milk, I had intended getting some this morning. I've UHT for emergency, and today could be that day, it'll be fine neutralised with fruit cake;)

I'd nuke it to melt it.... cut the big chunk into thinner slices and nuke it :)
