Good evening everyone,
Tried to post earlier but the site wouldn't let me!
Glad you got okay with the Year 1s flubberyzing:)
After such a wet & stormy day yesterday, today was clear & bright though much colder and it's to go below 0C tonight:eek:. I made the most of the better weather and had a good potter in the garden, looks a bit tidier now:). I'm still feeling very snuffly but feel ok, I'm hoping it's a passing sniffle though my Dad is laden with the cold, I do hope he hasn't shared his germs!
Lunch was a bagel with cheese and a bowl of salad. Dinner will be bangers & mash with sprouts & green beans and gravy. There's a portion of the rather nice parmesan & chive mash my son made on Christmas day in the freezer which I think will hit the spot:).0 -
Evening
My sore throat and tight chest hasn't move on but hasn't got any worst either so will wait and see what tomorrow brings, my colleague who has been coughing since before Christmas tells me that's how her cold started  she's had it too long to have passed it on now, I hope. I've brought some lemons just in case, if it comes to nothing they may be turned into a lemon drizzle cake
Disappointment of the day thinking it was Wednesday all day until someone corrected me at 4pm
You sound busy SunnyGirl I'm impressed by what you are doing I don't think I could go back to studying now, not sure I would remember what to do nowI did think of retraining and doing something different when I was made redundant 5 years ago but found this job quite quickly and never went back to the idea.
Lunch was more HM sweet potato, butternut squash, carrot and pepper soup which has turned out really nice, like most of my soups different every time :rotfl: I didn't fancy the LO jerk chicken for dinner so had a couple of boiled eggs and some crackers insteadLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Good morning everyone,
Cold and very frosty this morning though nice and sunny.
Another domestic day planned and when the ice lifts I'll take a wander round the block and try and clear the sniffles.
I'm not sure what I fancy for dinner but have taken some pastrami out of the freezer to have in a bagel for lunch.0 -
Full frost overnight, bright but cold out, I may follow Caron lead & have a potter in garden later, only slight potter because The Back is not where it was before I I did it in last time:(
All XCFO food has been scoffed, hoping to return to usual CFO food, and weight, state from now on
Porridge breakfast
Lunch, probably cheese salady sarnie
Dinner, the huge pork chop & all being well, roast veg and gravy, plus LO broccoli & celery headDisappointment of the day thinking it was Wednesday all day until someone corrected me at 4pm
Not nice, especially as you're a worker and now you've an extra day before TGIF:)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

What recipe do you use for your soup?:)
I use a recipe that I read in the BBC Giod Food magazine years ago. I can’t temember it exactly but this is how I make it:
2 chopped onions
2 tins chopped tomatoes
8oz red lentils
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon chilli flakes
2 pints of stock or water
Salt and pepper
I rinse the lentils well in hot water then add everything to a pan, bring to the boil and simmer until the lentils are cooked. Keep an eye on the fluid level as it can sometimes be thick but I adjust it once it’s all cooked.
I love it as it’s warming and tasty, very good for you and freezes beautifully.
Morning all.
Jack Frost has been here too and it’s cold!!!
Not much to report really just a repeat of yesterday with revision. I’ve got a delivery of new sock yarn coming later but I’ll have to hide it until after the exams or I’ll fail everything due to knitting and not studying :rotfl:
Brambling I was made redundant from a fairly well paid but stressful job and struggled to find anything else. I was 50 and think my age put employers offI came to the eventual conclusion that life was too short not to do something different plus I was living on very little money anyway so knew I could manage in student finance! I love it and enjoy the stimulation of learning which I didn’t like when I was younger!
Hope everyone is ok in the cold and managing to Lee the bugs at bay. Btw I’m another who seconds a G&T over a lemon drizzle cake0 -
Faraway As a fellow lurker have you noticed that the Brexit thread has suddenly gone very quiet? Maybe MSE has banned everyone on there for arguing and not just our Money0

I've had a leftover Quorn breaded fillet and some sparkling water for breakfast.:o:D
I'm going to be making lentil soup later. I'm going to have one of those oranges I bought yesterday in a minute.:cool:I use a recipe that I read in the BBC Giod Food magazine years ago. I can’t temember it exactly but this is how I make it:

I use passata but almost the same as mine. I put chopped carrots in my lentil soup.:)0 -
That sounds like what I call "Egyptian Lentil Soup" though I add some garlic:)
I've had a bit of a :eek::eek::o:o:o moment, I decided to clean out my pot and pans cupboard one of which is corner cupboard as they had got very jumbled over Christmas.
It's a bit of a stretch to get to the back of the corner cupboard and I need to get low down and angle myself into the space. With the help of a footstool and my trusty zimmer I got down and angled just fine and had a good clean. Then couldn't get myself balanced enough to get back out and couldn't reach anything to steady me. After a bit of a panic I managed to drop myself onto the floor after which it was relatively straightforward to get on my feet. Did for a few moments think I was going to have to phone for help which would have been:o:o as who ever came would have been greeted with my stuck in the air backside:eek:. Shan't be cleaning that cupboard again for a while:rotfl::rotfl:
Decided that dinner will be a use up of souvlaki, veg/halloumi skewers and Greek pitta from the freezer.0
