Morning all!
I'm just watching the traffic on the dual carriageway over the fence at mine... It's clearly had "Monday morning, first day back after Christmas" blues, as it's VERY heavy. And the lane heading towards the motorway had periods of stationary... Seems to be loosening up now though, as we head towards 8am.
As for me, I'll head out to Lidl at about 9 for a food shop. I need to have a look through the pantry first, but I don't think I've got much of anything at all in, so it'll be a bit of a stock up.
Yesterday I threw away the last of the xmas left-overs... I hate to do it, but time was getting on, and I knew I wasn't going to get to it. A packet of salmon that never even got opened, most of a cucumber, and a few slices of ham. Annoying, but it is what it is. I'm normally really careful with food waste, but with people in and out, it's harder to judge. I find it hard to predict what other people will eat, because I'm used to managing just me, and that's easy!
Trying to get back on the semi-healthy eating train with the new year. Currently a good half a stone heavier than is ideal for me.
Yesterday I did a bolognaise in the slow cooker, which was very nice. But I wasn't actually very hungry for it, when it came to the crunch, so I only had a smallish portion. So quite a big dollop left over for today!Because it's fun to have money!

Morning all
Sorry to hear about Money ban, she must have really upset someone, but she was not one to let things go unremarked if she thought a post was incorrect
Not checked on ratty yet, it was a bit dark when I was in the kitchen, I'll check lunchtime
Once I've had a clear week I'll clean out the cupboard, from my rat research it seems best left as the rat left it when trying to poison / trap them, otherwise they get more wary and don't scoff the poison bait
I've one portion of stew left now, I'm not sure if I'll eat or freeze it, decision day is tomorrow
Breakfast usual porridge
Lunch, planned fried egg sarnie
Dinner, think I should have some green & fresh veg, plan so far is baked spud, boiled eggs & saladI think lack of sleep is catching up with me this afternoon  four cups of tea have sat and gotten cold, with two not making out of the kitchen, I didn't add enough water to the rice (Farway if you PM me your address I'll send the burnt saucepan to you to clean with your manky pot) )Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
That's a shame re having to ditch stuff flubberyzing but hard to avoid when you catering for unknowns.;) I've had a bit of F&V waste and I'll need to ditch some cream if I don't use up in the next few days. It's single cream so doesn't freeze that well and I don't want to use up precious freezer space with it.
Lol Farway re your spy meet up - will you be in a trenchcoat and trilby waiting for the package? Just watch you don't get arrested it could be hard to explain:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My it's wild here though thankfully it's dry at the moment.
Groceries have been delivered and put away. The stove is cleaned and set ready to light later and I've had a good sweep through. All in all a very domestic morning, once I've finished my cuppa I'll replenish one of my indoor log stashs then I think it will be time for lunch and then my feet up for a bit. Then it's back to cupboard sorting.
Lunch will be the last slice of cooked ham in a bagel with cheese and a side salad. I'm swithering between bangers and mash or lentil & mushroom ragu from the freezer with pasta for dinner, I'll see what I fancy later. Mind you it's to be much colder tomorrow so that might be more of a "gravy dinner" kind of day:)0 -
Morning all, thanks for the advice ,I may need to put the traps in the loft then.
I've hoovered and chopped through, done the ironing of work uniform . It's now started raining and is quite windy!.
Tomorrow I'm working a 4 till 9 PM shift so I'm going to make pasta for tea, with enough to take for tea tomorrow.
I've lifted some chicken out and will use that for something in the slow cooker for weds.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

Afternoon all.
Shocking news about Money she will be missed. There was a lot of arguing going on on the very scary Brexit Prepping thread from what I’ve caught up so it might be that.
PN Come back!
Bramble Hope you’re having a better day today than yesterday although I must confess I did smile at your description!
Wednesday Hope you’re both soon feeling better.
I’m just about to get up as I’ve been revising in bed in true student style :rotfl: Mostly because I can’t get distracted and it’s warm without putting the heating on first thing :money:
I’ve also ordered some boots online with some Christmas money and paid my car insurance and breakdown cover for another year. I hate it coming straight after Christmas but it’s just down to when I bought the car 6 years ago.
Am going to get myself into the shower then domestic duties for the rest of the day - a full basket of washing to be done, I need to go to Lidl and Home Bargains for my monthly ‘big shop’ and downstairs definitely needs a dust, sweep and mop.
Had some exciting news too. My sons boyfriend is going to propose to him in March and my daughter has been with him into Manchester this morning to choose and buy the ring!! It’s a 1.5ct black diamond on a platinum band. It’s all the rage apparently but I’m too old to know :rotfl: I’m very happy though as my son has found a lovely man who the whole family adores and they make each other very happy. The deed will be done the first weekend in March and my daughter and I are sworn to secrecy which will be very hard!!
Not much CFO today as I’ll grab a sandwich in my travels for lunch and probably get a pizza or something easy to bung in the oven for tea.
It’s wet and cold here hope everyone is keeping warm and toasty.0 -
I'm feeling like death today. I had to get up to order some groceries as we don't have much loo roll left. I'm going to have a bath and get back into bed.
I've had a banana and some leftover pasta. Lucky I cooked that yesterday so I had something ready to eat.:)Have you tried the lentil crisps? I like them too and a bit cheaper
Yes, they are nice too. Crisps are one of my favourite things.:DWednesday you definitely seem to have been hit with one thing after another the last few weeks, looks like lots of fruit and veg and rest needed this week to try and recover <<hugs>> hope you didn't pick up germs in the doctors
I think it was the woman who sat next to me at my mental health workshop. She was coughing and spluttering so of course she had to sit right beside me.:rotfl:
