Enjoying time off from work - yesterday was spent cleaning the house. Coffee & toast for a late breakfast, skipped lunch, pasta bake for tea.
Today I've been procrastinating a bit. Just had coffee, two slices of toast & a fried egg for breakfast. Now heading to the shower before a walk to T for some milk, to claim £2 on a scratch card & break a £20 note to pay the hairdresser, Then hike up the hill to go to the hair dresser. As I've plenty of time I'll be walking it all rather than driving.
Lunch & tea will probably be the last of the pasta bake - I used a bigger dish than normal so it's lasted a bit longer.
Not brave enough to attempt freezing it as I don't think it'll defrost too well.0 -

Sorry the shingles have struck again Caronc <<hugs>> any advice from the doctor on how to avoid it coming back?
Good morning everyone,
Glad you are enjoying your time off Novice, I find tomato sauce based pasta bakes freeze ok but things like macaroni cheese can go a bit dry.
Still feeling quite grotty so don't plan to do much, it's cold, grey & damp outside not really a day for being out and about though I might have a trundle to the local Spar. I could do with more milk and using the ATM as I'm off out for lunch on Monday for a friend's birthday and I do like to get some fresh air.
It will be HM soup again for lunch, I reckon there are two portions left so will freeze the other. Tonight I'm keeping it simple- breaded pollock, oven chips, peas & spinach.0 -
I'm deffo making red lentil lasagne later.Might even chuck some spiralized veg in with my new spiralizer:D
Am braving ALDI later.Hope the toy carrot n parsnip hunters aren't fighting in our store, like the ones in the paper :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Stewed apples and custard.... didn't need to eat again, but I'd been thinking about making that with the apples since I bought them (7-10 days ago?) ... and I'd never got to the point where I could be bothered... and suddenly I felt able to do it... so did.0

I'll have a go at freezing the last 3 portions. I did think I'd have to go out & buy some of those foil trays so I could then reheat in the oven...
But I've some plastic tubs from T that'll do the job & can be microwaved
I am getting a bit fed up of eating pasta bake now....
When I next do a big shop I'm planning to stock up on those foil trays & do a batch cook of HM beef lasagna & freeze. I've done that before & had 6 trays for about £7 cost of the ingredients. I just need to eat my way through what's already in the freezer to make room...0 -
caronc, it's a miserable, damp & cold day here too. I still haven't managed to go out as it's cold & wet - it's nicer sat in front of the gas fire....
I really can't put off getting my hair cut any longer, so I'm going to ditch the walk to T & just head to the hair dresser & home again to do more chores - change the sheets & start the mountain of washing.....0 -
Caronc hope you're feeling better soon. Re the fire , make sure you have a carbon mon oxide alarm. I'm sure you have but my sister had a scare recently when her husband took the ashes out of the burner and left them on the hearth to cool and forgot them. My sister woke to the alarm going off!!! It took ages to clear the house enough to stop the alarm.
Yesterday I went shopping with my friend, we went for coffee as it was lunchtime but rather than having a savoury lunch decided to have gfree scones and cream /jam. The pack had 2 scones so the lo was brought home for after tea. Which was half a gfree cheese and onion quiche my sister had popped in the fridge for me:j
Had 2 toast and cheese spread for breakfast but going to Mr T .to look at 25%off wine!:o
So just had a quick toast slice with boursin and piri piri chicken that's been open all week! Did a sniff test but couldn't tell cos of spices so I've eaten it! Soon find out :eek:Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

Yea I use the foil trays to freeze stuff, then just bung it in the oven to cook. It's so easy"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

That's what I'd prefer to do, than microwave stuff. Next time I'm in town I'll have a look in £land or H-Bargains for some as they're dead expensive in T.
Haircut accomplished -£6.
Went to Farmfoods on the way home looking for Gregg's sausage rolls. It was like stepping back into 1985....
No sausage rolls but I spent £7 on some bacon for weekend brunches, a big tub of chocolate spread that's not great, some seriously strong spreadable that was a bargain at £1 & some frozen scotch pies.
Just tried one now in the microwave. Not like Holland's meat pies at all! But still quite nice - I had to smother it in Henderson's relish, but I do that to every pie with meat in it....0
