Today I plan to buy milk and eggs. Got my little list written down.

The plan is .... to use that milk to make a white sauce for the fish pie with the fish pie mix I bought the other week and froze + some of that mash on top.

As I'm out .. and near "the choccy shop" .... I'll be popping in to see if they're still selling my favourite little choccies. These are bags of mis-shapes for 99p, about 250g. If found, I'll no doubt grab two bags, as it's about 2 miles away, so I'm not there often.

I'll also use that milk to make some cheese/onion bread in the next 2-3 days or so, using that OOD bag of bread mix.

As I've found "a really good sized" little oven dish, I might pop into £land to see if they've another in that size. I'd like a second one to be a different colour to the one I've already bought... so I'll have to see how that pans out. That size is deep and fits into the SC and fits into the little oven and is large enough for a good/hearty CFO portion of something.

    'morning all
Cold outside, no frost but I took precaution of bed socks last night, good job I did, it was freezing.

Today is a good day so far

    1 Boiler serviced earlier today

2 Boiler bloke fitted a new battery in my smoke alarm [asked politely]

3 Boiler bloke is also plumber, he is looking into fitting lever tops to my kitchen taps, my arthritis is making gripping the turn tops hard to grip & turn

4 New freezer ordered from John Lewis, same price as elsewhere but comes with 2 year, not 1yr, guarantee. Delivery arranged for next Wednesday

5 SC beef & veg prepped and bubbling on the counter

    Breakfast was usual porridge
Lunch, looking like usual cheese & salad bits sarnie
Dinner, may bung some dumplings in the SC later

I did a "bit of a big run out and around" this morning. Dentist isn't far from Home Bargains, so started there... then went to 4ldi ... then £land.

HB: Mostly sweeties and crisps :) Did splash out on some vaguely Xmassy tea towels just because if I didn't then I'd never see any others... so I figured it's better to just buy the ones that are in front of me "that'll do" than go without and hope to find better ones/cheaper. I also got a small can of pineapple rings ... on a whim, thinking pineapple upside down pud at some point.

A: Quite a bit of half price stuff I could've got... 2.5Kg of baking spuds were half price, but as I still have the last spuds to cook my way through, then eat, I left them. I'll next be waiting for the half price stickers on the Xmas Maris Pipers :)

Also got a half price pack of posh steak cubes, should've been about £3.50. Pack of 2 corned beef crispbakes at half price. Corned beef things straight in the freezer; beef's going to have to wait as I need to thoroughly wash my hands before I open the pack.

Also got the milk/eggs I went out for - and "stocked up" on the elusive baked beans by getting two 4-packs. Grabbed a tin of garden peas too and a jar of coffee. Also got sausage rolls (not as good as L1dl, but no need to visit L1dl if I just picked up these ones).

Also got a pack of their cheap scones reduced to half price... I see there a scone-based pudding dessert at some point... they need to go in the freezer for now though.

All in all ... unexpected further food overload! I didn't intend/expect to get anything half price, so the beef, crispbakes and scones were "unexpected extras".

£land - they had the dish I was after, checked for other colours but didn't want the pale yellow or pale grey alternatives, so got a matching deep blue one like the last one :)

LUNCH: It looks like two of those sausage rolls would be quickest/easiest :)

Thanks Farway, good news re the new freezer. Will be handy if we get a prolonged ice/snow spell and after you've had your op.:) JL can be pretty good for white goods I've found. Sounds like you & PN have both had productive mornings.:)
We have new recycling system being introduced and yesterday was my last collection under the old system but no sign of the additional bins! Cue a call to the council which thankfully wasn't too frustrating and hopefully the new ones will arrive by Tuesday at the latest. Meantime the stuff that can't go in the current bin is stashed in my greenhouse:cool:.
Tbh not much else planned today as I'm feeling quite yuk so happy to potter and no doubt have a snooze. It's baltic outside but due to cloud over later so shouldn't be as cold tonight. Usual toast & fruit for breakfast, HM soup for lunch and tonight an easy option of mash, HM swedish meatballs, veg & gravy:).

Slight change of plan ... I temporarily forgot that I should concentrate on eating up what I've already got, so lunch is the 2nd half of the spud/cheese bake, with baked beans.

I've decanted the angus beef into a freezer bag and squashed it down and that's now in the freezer. Scones are also in the freezer.

Freezer's nearly full! This time of year I should be actively emptying it, "in case" of any unexpected Xmas bargains... oh well.

Fingers crossed these shingles are going to stop repeating on you at intervals Caron. You've got enough on your plate without them adding to it.

    Take care.

Thanks ladies, I am tbh "fair scunnered" (completely fed up) with it, 5th bout this year always in the same area but seems to be just one of these things. Thankfully I'm getting better at recognising the symptoms before I'm completely "scabby hamster".
