  • There ya' go then - not just me...(ie on the greasy front).

The cakes where I was looked nice too - and tasted nice (I had the minutest taster bit of someone else's) - but I would want to cut a slice in half myself and keep the other half for later (as they were enormous slices).

Oh heck - is this one of the "I hope I'm not turning into my mother" moments:eek:. She's very prone to taking along one of those little food storage boxes when eating a meal out and, if she decides it is more than she needs/wants - then she puts some of it in that box and takes it home to eat later.

I am convinced it was my mother that brought over the idea of doggy bags from America and the idea of capacious handbags (ie ones big enough to hold one of these boxes) - courtesy of this little quirk of hers. Mind you - it always seems a shame to me if good money has been paid for food and some of it is going to be wasted otherwise and I have occasionally summoned up my nerve to ask for the rest of my food to be put in a "doggybag" for myself and they've always obliged when I did so.

I didn't have the nerve to ask for the food I didn't really want at lunchtime today to be packaged up - but I had had what I required, so stopped eating and didn't finish it. "Conscious eating" is part of my "keep control of my weight" repertoire.

Yesterday after tea my sister said she was going to asda, so I went along. I picked up a couple of jumpers as Xmas presents, and a fitted flannelette sheet as I only have one, and it s not easy to get dry and back on the bed in winter.
Whilst there I got a few items I needed then I hope not to shop until next week. Butter, milk ,yogurts, mince pies and cream ( testing as I've had them from other supermarkets ) and cheese.
I had a good clean up this morning, I've had family round this afternoon for cups of tea and a catch up. Plus they wanted to nosy round my new bathroom:rotfl:

Tea was lo cauli cheese ,chicken fillet and chips. My sister had left a wodge of lemon drizzle cake so I had a slice with a cup of tea, and I'm now seriously stuffed.
I've had the heating on as it's perishing today, and wet. Although I'm warm now my feet are blocks of ice.
I have to disagree with the experts though, I only have heating on 18/19° but I'm only 9 stone.
I always thought if you're cold the body uses up fat stores to keep you warm!!!!

    Good evening everyone,

I can't think of the last time I had a full cake when I was out, the portions are always massive so tend to share or not bother. I did get half a scone wrapped to go, it was lovely but huge and I was discreetly (I thought) wrapping it when the waitress asked if I would like it wrapped in foil instead. I'm happy to ask for a doggy bag though don't have a box in my bag.

Meeting went well and I'm back earlier than I might - pizza for dinner I think as I cba prepping anything and don't fancy soup again.

I'm another one who usually shares cake when out :) it's good to have a treat with a cup of tea without being too 'naughty' :rotfl: I do have one sister who sulks if you suggest she shares, not an attractive look in a overweight 59 year old woman especially one with diabetes and high cholesterol, luckily she lives 100 miles away so we infrequently do it

It's been cold today, we avoided the snow but my colleague who lives about 15 miles from work in the opposite direction to me had snow this morning, and the trains were delayed due to ice, We just had rain first thing :)

Never mind Caronc, maybe something to add to the next shopping order :)

Money I find I can't eat much fatty / oily food any more, my body objects these days and I don't enjoy eating it anymore.

I'm told the boots I like have 20% off, my sister and I have decided to have lunch in town on Saturday, we may have to walk past the shoe shop :rotfl:

  • Cooked rice and canned tomatoes duly hauled out of freezer and think I'll chuck in some beans or chickpeas (thinks - better check freezer to see if I've got some of them stashed away in there). Add in some spinach I'd better use up and I think I'll be doing a sorta chilli (mild version - as I only like "spicy" and not "mouth blasting hot") for main meal today.

Summoning up energy after yesterday's dancing for more dancing today.

Just as well the music event I'm off to with a friend on Friday evening is a sit-down one and not a dancing one (thoughts flagging at the thought of 3 days in a row dancing). No "food out" with today's dancing and must resist buying myself any drinks with Friday's concert.

Must must must dig out my scales - now I think I may not get too big a "heart attack" looking at the figure on them. I didn't dare whilst I knew my weight was over 10 stone - but must summon up courage now I suspect it's gone back under that major barrier and is probably currently 9 stone something-or-other. Remembers earlier decades - where women weighed themselves weekly and it's a habit I must take up again.
