e.g. I knew I should do those spuds, so got the SC out the evening before and put 3 spuds on the upturned lid so I couldn't forget, or make excuses of "oh I'll get it out in a bit"....
Sometimes I have great ideas of what I could make, but unless I stack things up on the worktop when I think of them I forget again....
I don't do it all the time... or you'd not be able to see the worktop for all the great ideas I had about what I could/should cook tomorrow...
I have loads of fab ideas in the early hours, then wake up, n my mind's a blank :rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Good afternoon everyone,
Interesting theory re BMI/ CH temperature. I do think light levels must also play a huge part in the bodies response to winter coming. Laying fat down was not just essential to ward off the cold but see folk through the "hungry gap" months between Feb & May when winter crops/stores were finishing but there wasn't much by way of ready produce.
Regardless the reason, I certainly want to eat differently/more at this time of year and find soups, stews etc. much more satisfying than what I eat in warmer weather though I'm not sure calorie-wise they differ much. I suspect the only pounds that turning the heating up might help shed are monetary ones;):).
Spent this morning sorting finance stuff for my Dad, he's really not interested in that side of things (never has been) and has a terrible habit of ditching paperwork, statements etc. Which is fine until he needs them for something and then it's panic stations until someone (aka me) takes it over and he tootles away quite happily!:mad:(Rant over;))
I had a very CFO breakfast of LO noodles & veg from last night and lunch was HM soup, not sure about dinner as I have an early evening meeting so it will depend when I'm clear from that.0 -
I seem to have had a genius plan... not sure where that came from.
When it was time to turn the spuds off.... I actually used some of them
Cheese/spud/onion pie, topped with cheddar and browned under the grill + beans. Still got another "half" of that left as I made about 600-700g or so... which I COULD have eaten.... but I decided it would be a bit unnecessary, so that's cooling for another time (later maybe)...0 -

I just had two wholemeal rolls with vegan cream cheese and marmite. I keep getting up so late every day! I don't know if it is the cold or if it is the fibromyalgia treatment I'm doing. The doctor says to sleep in as late as you want as you need to get the restorative sleep.
Oh well, I don't have to get up for anything as I don't have a job.:rotfl:
I'm going to make spaghetti with pesto and whatever veggies I have later. Onion, carrots and cherry toms, I think.
With even colder weather forecast over coming days I decided this afternoon to make a pan of yellow split pea soup. I love the pressure cooker for pulse based soup as they take no time:). It will be soup lunches for the rest of the week.
I like that soup, I never make it for some reason, always lentil.:pI haven't had tinned potatoes in over 40 years, we never had them at home but one of my sisters would make potato salad with them, probably with salad creamI remember not enjoying the taste of them which has always put me off, they probably taste a lot different now  but I have that taste in my head
. Shame really as they are convenient.
I started buying them when I was saving money as they are very cheap and they are quite nice roasted in oil. I got that tip from the Frugal Queen blog.:)0 -

Sounds like I could've written that, my kitchen top is full of stuff to do, currently has SC, small pan for nuking peas, cooked beetroot in a container ready for dinner [so I don't forget it's in the fridge], couple of carrots for SC tomorrow, ditto couple of onions
Lunch was back to cheese & salady sandwich
Started the roast veggies, all prepped only need cooking nowEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Made it home for 3pm, after doing a trip to T for bread, eggs & cream cheese. Philly was on SO at £1 so got some of that & treated myself to Warbies white toastie for breakfasts these next 4 days off work.
HM pasta bake is in progress. Onions frying/steaming in some oil atm. I cheated & bought a bag of grated cheddar cheese to go on top cos I want to save the block of cheddar for next week's work lunches.
I've always noticed in winter that when I think I'm peckish - I'm actually thirsty. Because I drink fewer cold drinks than in warmer weather & tea/coffee just makes me more dehydrated. That usually works for.
Looking forward to a couple of days of getting long standing chores done Thursday/Friday then relaxing at the weekend reading.0 -
"Hungry gap" also makes sense. I suppose we forget about that - in this era of just deciding what food we are going to buy and then expecting the supermarket to have it.
I know I automatically write on my shopping list whatever ingredients I've decided on and am really surprised if I find there's no aubergines or lemons or whatever there on the shelves for me to buy.
This does get interspersed with visits to farmers markets/farm shops/etc - where I'm coming from the other viewpoint of "What has just been pulled out of the ground within a few miles from here that I fancy?"
Lunch out today - it qualified as my main meal for the day - pasta with pesto and vegetables. It was nice - but just goes to show that my tastebuds have changed a bit - as you get very conscious if a lot of oil has been used in something, when you rarely cook with oil any longer yourself.0 -
Dinner roast coming along nicely, just the salmon to bung in a foil parcel now
I've decided to have instant granule parsley sauce with them, but I'm going to add some of my fresh parley, if anyone remembers I bought seeds after Caron mentioned using it everywhere.

I find the same, greasy & salty sometimes when eating out.
Fish & chips excused;)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
