  • Not shingles again, how horrible for you Caron.:(

I decided to skip my mental health class today as I still have this cough. Its driving me up the wall. I did the steam and Vicks thing yesterday but it didn't seem to help. It's only been a week and a half but it feels like ages. I'm very impatient.:rotfl:

I just had three slices of toast with vegan cream cheese and a cup of green tea.:)

    Lunch over, cheese sarnie etc

My boiler is in the airing cupboard so I've had to oik out all the stuff in there, and now I think I'm actually going to start chucking some of it away instead of putting back

I've got about a billion pairs of socks, plenty of holey T shirts, jeans that I'll never get into unless I have my mouth wired shut and other odds & s0ds

I've just sorted out my old shoes for binning to make way for the freezer [going in my lobby]

A busy time, and after that it's looking for freezer boxes on line now I'll have space.
    I'm hoping same as PN
Freezer's nearly full! This time of year I should be actively emptying it, "in case" of any unexpected Xmas bargains... oh well.

    Good evening everyone,
Apart from next door's cat throwing up rather spectacularly on my kitchen chair_pale_ I've had a quiet afternoon. Thank goodness for disposable gloves and a washing machine! Definitely reminds me I don't want to be a full time pet owner again.
I've been looking at exciting things like logs & coal online and just need to get my finger out and order some so I'm good to go once the stove is in.:) Next year I plan to use money not spent in the two council tax free months to cover this but aim to start with what I think is a decent supply so it is case of topping up stocks rather than starting from scratch each winter. It's hard to judge how much I use so will see how it goes this year. I reckon it will be worth every penny though and I'm thinking of having the fireplace opened up in the dining room and putting an open fire back in there. I grew up with open fires and while I love having CH IMHO you can't beat wood/coal for warmth. They also mean if there is a power cut I can still be warm. At the moment there is an electric fire (as well as the radiator) in there which costs a fortune to run. It is a cold room as north facing so does need extra heating in cold weather but it would be a lot of work to get the gas piping extended into there.I'm so looking forward to having a properly toasty house again without having to redo all of the central heating system though I'll need a new boiler I reckon in the next few years. Just now even by whacking it up the front of the house can be chilly so I'd rather just add extra heating when I need it.:)

Still baltic here tonight so looking forward to some comfort food - HM swedish meatballs, savoy cabbage, peas, mash and gravy while I watch Masterchef. Then I'm for an early night and hopefully tomorrow my face will be less painful:)

Something entirely unscheduled occurred ... and I ended up, at the drop of a hat, out of the house for 3-4 hours (not sure how long as I didn't note when I "popped out").... now I'm back, not eaten since early lunchtime and not really feeling like doing sausage rolls as it's after dark (kitchen lighting's dire really)....

Might have a packet of crisps ... I did buy 12 earlier, but I'd put them "out of sight" upstairs as the start of a delusional "this pile of great crisps/chocolates/biscuits will do for Xmas".... I expected I'd end up eating the lot as there's still 5 weeks to go though... so if I do have crisps I won't feel bad.

Crisps in a buttered roll PN? Perhaps with a splodge of salad cream? Wouldn't require much kitchen lurking and is one of life's treats in my book:) (especially if it's prawn cocktail or smokey bacon crisps which otherwise I'm not bothered about). Add a slice of cheese and some tomato and it's (almost) a proper meal:):)

Bread rolls are in the freezer.... nuke defrosting one "on the quick" wouldn't make it such a tasty treat as one that's defrosted naturally, or was simply fresh :)

    I've got C/O crisps :)

Sorry the shingles have struck again Caronc <<hugs>> any advice from the doctor on how to avoid it coming back?

Hope you manage to shake that cold Wednesday, another one who needs to take things easy by the sound of it :)

I think we have some of your Baltic weather down here Caronc, -2 when I defrosted the car this morning, I was at work before I defrosted :). We have builders at work so dusty and noisy, hopefully it won't get too bad or I'll have to work from home, the combination of plaster board dust and paint smells is usually a bit of a problem for me  and the work is due to take two weeks

I worked 8 - 4 today as I needed to sign a form at the drs to renew my medical exemption card, i found it amusing that neither the receptionist or practice manager had any idea what box to tick on the form, how I was meant to understand the medical terms if they couldn't  I'm sure the box they told me to tick was for over active thyroid not under, if it is the doctor will have to amends when he signs. It was nice to drive home before it was very dark :)

Lunch was soup and dinner was lamb steak, jacket potato and green veg.

Farway I have freezer envy, I want another one but can't fit one in :(

I still didn't eat... made what I thought was a "quick 10 minute phone call", that ended up an hour :)

Ah ... just remembered! I have some two year old weetabix in the kitchen I still need to get through, I have sugar, I bought milk today :)

    That's solved then - 2 weetabix :)
