...I nearly got up and called the local rozzers, when they stopped.
    ...
"... Police discovered the body after neighbours complained of a strong smell... nobody'd seen the deceased since they heard a row several weeks ago ... Police are now looking for the other occupant, who hasn't been seen ..... "

    :)
  • I'm just thinking "that's the tone of the neighbourhood just lowered then - and after Waitrose set up shop too".:rotfl:

Tries not to think about the fact I used to have Waitrose nearby:(

People forget, people don't realise. There was a murder over the road from me not 1-2 months ago.... nobody mentions it any more. That was then, this is today.

I'm sure estate agents never notice houses being tough to sell shortly after an "incident", it's years of ongoing troubles that bring down prices. Or "estates". I don't like estates.... they bring about a strange thinking in people's minds... "it's an estate" and they don't feel connected to it at all.... it only takes 1-2 chaotic families to let everything slide downhill from there.

Rotten dull & wet morning. Woke up earlier, not sure if the 'flu jab is "working" but bit of sore throaty feel about me today, plus a sore arm.
No doubt it'll all pass as everything does in the end, even Brexit:)

Porridge, sliced banana, honey & HM yoghurt again this morning. I really enjoy it these days, especially since following a tip I read somewhere on MSE, soaking the oats overnight

Farway - would sugra glue be a solution for your shelf if you can't get spares? My friend used it on hers as "temporary fix" some years ago and it's still holding:cool: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00WW8KIQO/ref=twister_B079H4YS22?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1.

Thanks Caron, just looked at that, but a new part is not much more, no wonder it's a throw away society:(

Had to search for Henderson's relish, seems interesting but not for me, I've got a big bottle of L & P which provides a splash or two twice a year, that plus L's brown sauce is my limit of exotic sauces

Lunch no idea but leaning towards nuking one of the LO portions of beef stew, it's the sort of day when that sort of food fits in nicely

Dinner, it's pie weather, but suspect it'll be LO quiche + no idea

    OMG that's tasty.

    Scoffing 1/4 of it now.

    It came out fine.

There was a suggestion put forward, by my head, "you should grease that foil before you put it in", but the response it got was "it'll be all right". It was mostly all right, but I did have to pick the foil from the base instead of lifting it off the foil.

    Tastes nice though.

EDIT: Had some more bits... then boxed up the remaining 1/3rd or so in a takeaway box.

  • That sounds DX like a really good evening, Wort!

I've been up since about 7am doing DIY....
Had my bacon butties for breakfast, bit salty & too smoky. I think I prefer smoked streaky or unsmoked back bacon but not the other way round.
Also had numerous cups of coffee.

Today so far I'm scraped a patch of peeling paint from the kitchen wall. This has always been a problem - it always seems to peel away in the same place to just the bare plaster underneath.
This time I've sanded & cleaned it & put in a mist coat of diluted brilliant white matt. I'll put about 3 coats of that on over today & tomorrow & see if it looks better. Anything would than a bare patch of plaster! If it peels again I'm just going to out a patch of lining paper over it, sand the edges & paint it again....

    Other jobs:
    - filled the gaps in the skirting boards that were blowing a gale through my lounge
    - found out my curtains already have thermal liners, so don't need to buy any
    - fixed up the insulation boards in the cellar
    - done the meter readings whilst I was down there
    - got the washing in the machine.

    Still to do:
    - change bed sheets
    - clean the bathroom door & the banister ready to paint tomorrow

Tea will be bangers & mash. Skipping lunch as I'm in the DIY zone

Sounds like a random cold patch, creating a damp patch. Might be worth keeping a rag down there and wiping it over twice a day to just keep it moisture free.... all moisture in the kitchen floats around and finds the coldest spots, then settles and becomes moisture. If not wiped away, that becomes mould, or makes paint peel.

You need to either work out how to ventilate properly ... or ignore it and simply wipe it down every day, whether you can see something there or not.

Lunch was one LO portion of beef stew, with a couple of slices of toast

    PN, those Wright's C & O mixes are damn tasty aren't they?

I've got cellar envy. Never had a house with a cellar, I'm sure there would be problems but always liked the idea of going down into one, bet they hold more than lofts

Dinner, still undecided but I've taken the LO quiche out of fridge which is a start

So much rubbish on TV,for my tastes anyway, I'm going to rejoin Netflix, wider choice of rubbish:)
