Didn't get the sausage rolls... no secret afternoon YS going on either.

I had to drive past my house to get to the sausage rolls and I was "curious" as to whether my little visitors had already left - and they had, so I came indoors and hung my washing up (as I'd used the time to go to the launderette)....

Still starving. Sausage rolls still a thought .... see if I can muster the full "go outside in the cold" enthusiasm in the next 10 minutes.

EDIT: Sausage rolls acquired, two are in the oven. Also bought cherry jaffas and frozen chips :)

    Good evening everyone,
The forcasted rain has arrived with bells on shame it hasn't brought a rise in the temperature with it, it's still really cold! Nevermind my nice new padded winter jacket has arrived so I should be all set for being out in the winter weather:). I like the fact that it's got stretchy bits so you can layer up underneath if needed but it's not baggy if they aren't:).
Other progress on the cosy front is that I hopefully have a chap coming out next week to do a survey for a woodburner to be installed.:)

I had a productive trip out got new library books and bought Tiree gin for my friend's birthday (I hope she let's me sample some;)). I also bought some nice bread from the lovely bakery which I had with boiled egg and tomato for lunch.:D
However on the way home I started sneezing, I thought it might be the rather strong air freshner in the taxi but no I'm now all snuffly. I do hope my cold isn't coming back - I don't want to be all blotchy and red-nosed on Saturday!
Turns out the chicken leg I though I'd defrosted is actually two thighs not that it makes any difference. Definitely I should have had my specs on moment as it was clearly labelled.:o
My homegrown toms that have been ripening indoors are at an end. The ones that are left are fine for making passatta but not much else, I'll pop them in the oven tonight and that will be the season truly over for another year:(. Still I've a fair amount of HM passatta frozen to keep mt going:).

Pastures - re your house viewing and I don't know if you know about the Nimbus website (ie which has recently been mentioned on the housing sub-forum)? All checking on possible future houses is useful...

One can get free or premium (ie paid for) version. So I got the free version and have been playing around checking out various properties I can think of.

Quite interesting actually - there was certainly a very interesting point there re my current house (which I bet my neighbours from hell would be hoping I'd never find out). :D:D:D - I have found out:D:D:D:rotfl:

I've been checking re the circumstances of a possible buyer for the house one of my nfh is selling.

I was surprised to find that a pension company owns a strip of land the other side of some Council recreational type land near my parents house. Now wondering if I would be able to explain the meaning of "ransom strip" to my parents and have them understand that - as that's what I think it is. Doesn't affect them - or I'd tell them obviously. I've often wondered if someone would ever set "greedy eyes" on a nice bit of land near their house - fingers crossed it's safe from the "greedies".

I can also see just who has probably been stealing land (ie claiming land under "adverse possession") near my current house. Several little "greedies" in a road near me.

It was quite interesting to see just how many houses near my current house are still Unregistered (though this area started Registering houses on sale about 30 years ago I think). Clue for thinking - they are 1970s houses (detached/reasonable area) = there are going to be quite a few house sales in this area over the next few years then - as I expect the owners of these houses would have been in their 40's or so when they bought them brand new back when. Or is it just me that thinks "You buy your detached house in reasonable area in your 40's - well that's you are supposed to be able to do if you've been expecting to".
  • Hope everyone is well?
I've had a couple of long days at work, so yesterday evening I had time to eat a YS sandwich from Sainsbobs, watch GBBO & go to bed.

Tonight's tea was two of those micro pizzas but done in the oven. I cba to cook properly, too tired. Lunch was a HM sandwich/pack up.
I'm thankfully done with the overtime now & tomorrow I'll be home by 4pm & actually looking forward to spending some time in the house.

Still need to do my big monthly 4ldi shop, so I'll actually have a decent amount of stuff to make some proper meals. I'll be stocking up on the treat size chocolates whilst cheap for work lunches. The mention of Fray Bentos pies has tempted me to think about getting some again. & I've the frozen YS chicken to finally knock up some HM curry.

No trick or treaters round my way luckily. It's also raining, so not surprised it's quiet out.

Don't. They're now pretty rank and a faff to cook .... and not at all as 99% of people remembered them.

My wonderful sister came home from holiday yesterday, picked me up from work and took me to the Indian takeaway! It meant I was escaping the hoards of kids trick or treating round our estate.
It's absolutely manic! One year my niece who lives round the corner had over a hundred!! She ran out of things to give them .So gave them the biscuits!!
I had south indian garlic chicken, it's was quite hot and very tasty . It did the job of warming me up, along with a very tasty rose.
I'm hoping the bathroom will be finished today whilst I'm at work! More hm soup for lunch today.
    With hm pizza for tea.:j

I still like them! I had steak and kidney last night, and it was lovely! Have one if you feel like it Novice. You can often get them for a quid in Poundland and the like. Plus they're better than the pastys and the like they sometimes sell in their chiller section!

No trick or treaters here - never get any. Didn't even hear any kids out on the street.

Food ... again. It's raining here.

I have many great recipes I rather fancy, but one's never got all those ingredients in the house... even something as simple as needing milk is often out of the question as milk is only bought rarely when I believe I can get through a whole pint.

Today there'll be some sausage rolls cooked.... and I've got bread rolls. I'd like to make, say, a cheese/onion toastie, but the onion smell is awkward in case I get a viewing booked at short notice. You can't really cook onions and have a viewing the same day....

I think if I meal planned, then specifically went out and bought the ingredients I needed, then cooked stuff... I'd actually end up over-eating "because it's there". And then be staring at the leftover ingredients and sighing....

e.g. mustard... if I bought mustard I'd only actually use 1 teaspoon a YEAR. It's all cupboard clutter when you never buy something and use it all in one go.

I rather fancy an apple crumble .... apples are on special at the moment at 4ldi ... but that's a whole bag and for a crumble I'd only need one.... so then the rest would be mocking me from the bowl... having said that, crumble needs custard and I've still not managed to source/buy a pack of instant custard powder!
