It will all be worth it when you sell PN
, a comfy sofa is a must IMHO mine are from the cheap end of an M&S sale, material not leather but lovely squishy back cushions and interchangeable seating ones. I bought it 7 years ago and despite much use and a certain amount of abuse looks great, a really good buy.

I know where you're coming from re the fixed sofa cushions PN I have the same problem with my current one, saggy seat one end (I'm not petite :rotfl: ) and almost perfect the other, but my lounge doesn't lead to me moving it around.
With regards to 'design' I've reached the stage where I'm the only one to live with it so I get what I like and if anyone else doesn't like my choices tough.
When I brought my first flat the only new item brought was the washing machine, Iuckily I have a big familyI became unpopular with my BILs as I talked one sister into replacing her cooker and the other her fridge freezer (both were over 10 years old)
my sofa was fourth hand and a very bright blue  my mum never threw anything away and was a jumble sale queen
so that was china, saucepans etc plus a treasure trove hidden in her loft. When the time came for the next generation I paid it forward helping my nieces and nephews the same way.
Now I save up for what I want usually waiting for a sale, so the much needed new sofa will be paid for not put on credit, I've scrimped and saved as a single person to buy my own house now I'm mortgage free I'm buying what I like. Old MSE habits die hard so things are only replaced when they need to be not when I'm bored with themLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Never owned a vase before.... I've got about eight now! Three pictures for the walls.... lightbulbs ... lampshades.... I did quite well really... and could've kept going, but I did have the sense to see when I'd reached "the bare minimum so I look kind of normal".0 -

I was working with what I had to hand though, so would've struggled to make it larger as I emptied what was left of the beef mince into the SC, so adding another can of something, and/or another onion and/or the rest of the beans and/or some frozen veg would've made using the beef mince redundant as it would've been outnumbered.
I'm now thinking chilli PN I have a half tin LO tomatoes and cannelloni beans in the fridge from soup making and half portion of mince in the freezerLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

I wouldn't say my tastes were odd PNas long as you've reached the correct balance between bare rooms and being cluttered like a old lady's house you should be fine

I had to declutter, then I had nothing, so had to go out buying
25 jam jars and coffee jars kept "in case" is decluttering.
Having barely a single lampshade or lightbulb in the house is buying.0 -

You obviously should have watched day time TV, then you could have turned you glass jars into lighting :rotfl::rotfl:

Done the 8am dash to 4ldi, perchance some half price items... nothing to be had. Well, there were about three items in the whole shop with a "half price" sticker on ... so no bargains today!
Brought home a tin of rice pudding, pack of chocolate digestives, a punnet of small tomatoes and some oven bottom muffins. Oh - and a pack of crumpetsNot had crumpets for a few months... it's now crumpet season.
I've been tidying/cleaning the house between 7-8am ... not "at speed", just ambling about.
Sunny here today (makes the windows look a bit streaky to be honest!).... no matter how many times I wash or wipe those, with a variety of cloths and methods ... as soon as I step back I can see where I've missed a bit - and trying to remedy that bit just creates another bit elsewhere.
Lunch, later, will be chilli/rice, there's the chance of a few cheeky chips being cooked and maybe a sprinkling of grated cheddar on top (if I CBA to grate the next bit of cheese). I really did like that chilli. I think not using a tin of tomatoes makes it better as they make the whole thing too watery really. I prefer baked beans to kidney beans... as they're softer.
£1 says I end up in the sausage roll shop when I have to "go and hide" in under an hour.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Fingers crossed for the viewing PN.:)
The dire weather continues so I'm not for straying, I've plenty I can be getting on with indoors so shan't weary.
Mince and tatties with savoy cabbage for dinner and I might just make a dumpling too.:)0 -
My criteria for buying a sofa is that it be a "squashy cushion" type of sofa and I guess (all inadvertently) I've bought sofas where the wear can even out. It's an accidental by-product of wanting to be able to take the cushions off and use them as "substitute mattress" on the floor if I want to ever.
So - the accidental by-product is none of them are shaped and they're all at least pretty interchangeable with each other.
Not that that stops me still using my El Cheapo sofa (£250 from one of those cheaper manufacturers) whilst I can clearly see my more recent sofa (made with the fabric I wanted/converts into narrow double bed/etc) that cost me 10 times the price and is a "world of difference" in comfort.
Daft of me I know to still largely use the El Cheapo one (as it's not actually that comfortable). Just goes to show how ingrained habit can become.
Weather not too promising here - but must go out later (if only for a walk) - after a day largely spent dealing with workmen hassles here yesterday. Didn't believe it when one that needs to come back here said to me that the firm that sent him will "tell" me what day he will be coming LOL. He got informed in no uncertain terms that it was bad enough the firm expected me to "reserve" a whole day for a visit by him and how old-fashioned that is - and I most certainly would not be "told" what day he was coming back. I would "discuss" with the firm what day would suit us BOTH.0
