I started the day with a warm and hearty hot breakfast of beans and scrambled eggs on toast.... to set me up for a day of wandering round the garden occasionally snipping at things, while avoiding all the important garden jobs....

I had intended to go car booting, as I've a small list of wants ... but the weather's not good. Windy now, will get windier - and it's already rained a bit this morning.... so glad I didn't trek out.

I'll spend the money I saved by not leaving the house (about £8 in fuel/parking/entry) on a couple of small bags of gravel for the garden edges.

Lots of food in.... and I'll randomly select items to eat as the day progresses, depending on how I feel, what the weather's doing, what I fancy.

    Good morning everyone,

MTSTM - 28g is a lot of sesame seeds I was thinking more of a small sprinkle. Would a tsp of sesame oil be less syns? Enjoy your DOD:)
Windy here too PN and lashing with rain:(.
I made the most of yesterday's lovely weather and got quite a bit of clearing/tidying done in the garden. My son arrived late afternoon looking shattered so we just had a quiet evening and an early night. He was intending to change his brakepads today I'm not sure if he will given how wet it is!
Making chicken stuffed with haggis tonight which we'll have with mushroom & peppercorn sauce, boulangerie potatoes (sliced spuds baked with stock & onions), roasted carrots & french beans.

The new "proper" bakery has opened:D so I'm hoping to pay a visit either today or tomorrow. I've sampled their wares when we had the food markets and their cracked rye sourdough is fabulous. It's probably just as well they are located just a bit further than I can walk to or else I could see there being a rapid expansion in my waistline;). I really can't justify paying over £6 in taxi fares to buy a loaf:eek:They are pretty near the library though which I tend to get a taxi to every few weeks so I'll still get a chance to indulge as a treat :)

    Morning all!

It's currently raining here, but I've no plans to go out today. I shall just potter around quite contentedly at home and read my book.

My mum saves the magazines that come with the Saturday and Sunday Times newspapers she gets every weekend. I enjoy the magazines, but am not bothered with the vast quantity of actual newspaper. She actually likes the newspaper bit more. So when she's finished with the magazines, she saves them for me, so I get a handful every few weeks.
She hands them over quicker than I read them, so I need to do a bit of catching up! Perhaps reading 4 or 5 can be my project for today!!

I've just had a yoghurt and banana for breakfast. These are Aldi yoghurts, clearly intended to be Activia knockoffs. They are okay, but seem a LOT sweeter than Activia, so I'm not sure I'll have these again. I got 2 lots of 4 to try, but then won't buy any more, as I do try and avoid too much sugar.

Coffee next, then probably a chicken salad wrap for lunch. For dinner I have half a bag of chicken nuggets in there, so I'll try and get through a few of them with some veg.
Because it's fun to have money!

Much the same here, rain just starting & due to really tip down later, so indoors & generally [STRIKE]poncing [/STRIKE]pottering around

I polished of the last of the LO crumble last night, now just one big pot of stewed blackberry & apple to scoff before it's furry [freezer full]

Breakfast of porridge, banana, honey & HM yoghurt

Lunch, I've lots of stale bread, so grilled cheese on toast again

Pushing the boat out for dinner, plan so far is use one of the L "on offer" rump steaks, with chips, last of the LO tin of beans & a pair of eggs. Not sure on steak cooking, fry or grill decision has yet to be made

I've got four slices of old bread - and a bit of milk that has today's date on it. As I bought eggs yesterday, I'm half way through knocking up a bread/butter pudding....

Weather's VILE, it's definitely BB Pudding weather!

    EDIT:

I cooked that ... it weighed 500grams, so "4 portions" really. First I cut it in half and had half with custard. Then I went back for the second half and made 2x the quantity of custard to go with that :)

It was really nice. I only cooked it as I had milk to use up (still got a bit more left) and I had the end of the last loaf to use up (couldn't freeze it, no room!). I used some of the mixed/dried fruit that I'd bought in last Xmas (not used since)....

    Good evening everyone,
It's a quiet wee thread today - hope everyone is having a relaxing day.:)
Apart from a brief half hour the rain hasn't let up all day so I did something I seldom do and binge watched the last 3 episodes of "Hidden" on i-player mainly because it disappears tomorrow night.

My son & I paid a quick visit to my Dad to try & sort out a problem he is having with his computer (ten years of accumulated junk mainly:eek:). I think it's fixed but I also think it's on its last legs so time to sort out a new one. He doesn't use it for much besides the internet/emails but would miss it if it died. He won't entertain the notion of a tablet or notebook so I'll start having a look for a basic desktop and see what.
Haggis stuffed chicken and boulangerie spuds are in the oven, I'm just off to sort out veg & sauce and we'll be good to go shortly. I'm back to CFO tomorrow so enjoying cooking for more than one tonight. :D
  • Just got back from my social thing - and...yep...food was pretty good and I could eat most of it (as expected) - so a bitta this and a bitta that and a bitta summat else - as I duly tried everything I fancied. Followed by a bitta 3 different pudding things for afterwards. Preceded by two glasses of wine.

    Burp!:rotfl:

So duly ate more than is good for my figure, but no more than I was actually hungry for. So a bit of a blowout - but not a major one...:)

Back in time, by coincidence, to try out what could be latest Sunday evening tv serial - having done "Victoria" a while back and "The Handmaids Tale" - so think I'll give "Bodyguard" a tryout now (ie bodyguard of a politician).

I like ones I can relate to in some shape or form or another - so might be another one I'll like. We'll see.

Right - I got the legs out for the social thing - so time to put them away again - as they got rather chilled...

Just popping in to say 'morning, off with the grandchildren over to Romsey way for the day, postponed from yesterday due to the awful weather. My DD & family are on hols near Tenby, hope they found something to do

Last night's dinner fail, the steak, chips etc turned out to be just a bowl of HM stewed blackberries & apple, with LO tinned custard. I wasn't hungry when it came round to cooking & CBA to to do any more than raid the fridge

Breakfast was porridge, banana, honey & HM yoghurt

Lunch, eat out, no idea, probably a cafe in Romsey
Dinner, even less of a clue, could be back to the stewed fruit & custard again

I'm watched / watching same, but I just want one I can follow without falling asleep, struggle to hear, peer at subtitles or just plain confuse me. I started watching Krypton on E4, it fails on all my tests

Caron, your dad's PC, he sounds very much like me, if / when needs replacing asking the Techie board on here should get very useful responses, those I've seen from similar queries have been very helpful

    Good morning everyone,

Sounds as though you had a good day MTSTM:)
Enjoy your day out Farway, I hope the weather is kind to you. Thanks for the tip re the techie board, I'll have a look.:)
My son has headed off so I'm back to CFO :(but not before we had a quick trip to the new bakery where I bought a lovely rye sourdough:D. A piece has already been had for breakfast.
We both enjoyed our dinner last night, there is some chicken & haggis left but apart from that no LOs:). I'll have some of the chicken on sourdough for lunch and use the haggis up tomorrow night. Tonight I think it's pasta though I haven't quite decided what with though spinach I think will feature.

It was dry first thing but pouring again now, I hope it clears a bit as there are loads of brambles needing picked.

    Morning all!

Well, yesterday was a total wash-out with the weather! It rained pretty consistently from getting up 'til about 4pm, and even then, I didn't trust the look of it enough to venture out for my walk.
It perhaps sounds strange, but I do need my daily exercise. I find that if I have a bit of a homey week and don't do much out the house, I start to get aches and pains I didn't have before! My back was twinging on Friday/Saturday, and my shoulder has been giving me jip all week. I guess there is something to be said for "use it or lose it".
I think I shall pop my shoes on and do my half-hour route before lunch. There's a nice stroll to be had through the old village next to my new-build estate that's about bang-on 30 minutes walk, assuming you go at a reasonable pace. Getting up and out the house can be a struggle, but I ALWAYS feel better for it once I'm home.

I might just nip into Waitrose on my way for a pint of milk... I've got a 2-pinter in the fridge from Aldi that I bought on Monday... The use-by date on it is the 24th! Yet I keep getting another day out of it! There's probably still half a pint in it, but I think I'll quit while I'm ahead and throw it out... Still... Well done Aldi!

I was going to do a chicken breast for dinner tonight, but forgot to get one out the freezer. I can't see it being defrosted for today, so I'll do that tomorrow instead. Perhaps a chicken curry tonight... It sounds awful, but has anyone tried those tinned curries? Tesco do a lovely mild chicken curry in a can, and I picked up an Aldi one to try... They are a great store cupboard meal to have in. I'm hoping the Aldi one is decent... A quid cheaper than the Tesco version and I do have them quite often!

Anyway, let's get moving! Shoes on!! Walk time!
