.... has anyone tried those tinned curries? Tesco do a lovely mild chicken curry in a can, and I picked up an Aldi one to try... They are a great store cupboard meal to have in. I'm hoping the Aldi one is decent... A quid cheaper than the Tesco version and I do have them quite often!
I've had a couple over the years. They're a great "meal in a tin" in the cupboard as they don't go out of date. For me, the issue is that there might be 1-2 that are really good - but in a marketplace with an overall selection of about 20, you can't try them all just in case you do find one that's good :)

Today I went to a smallish car boot 10 miles away and bought a couple of items I was after .... and a magnificent little paperweight. I always look at paperweights, most aren't stunning... but this one's a bit of a stunner :) usually, too, the stalls want £4-6 for one - and this chap wanted £1, so that came home with me.

I'd cut back some evil brambles/bindweed/thistles (still a lot more to go) ... but I bundled that lot up and just did a quick tip run; next is to put wood preserver on the side gate, but the air's changed a little so it "feels like rain", so I'll wait a bit.

Food .... I've two sausage rolls that I'll treat myself to when I've finished the gate.

Completely agree re needing a daily "move about" or you seize up. I had a prolonged period of enforced inactivity just under two years ago and it was scary how quickly I morphed from being reasonably fit to completely unfit. While I never got back to where I was I do try to move about as much as I can though still have a few lower back issues that flare up. If doubt keep moving is my motto even if in my case I don't get very far:D.
I think I've only had tinned curry once while camping and I can't remember how good or not it was. I did used to like the tins of Stagg chilli which we used to get when we went on caravan holidays but I've not had that for many, many years:)
(Just looked on Tesco and it's still on the go but at £1.79 a tin I think I'll just leave it- it probably doesn't taste the same unless you are on holiday and tired after a day of being run ragged with two kids:rotfl:)

It was also "exotic" back then :)

You'll not see it as an exotic treat these days even if it tastes identically :)

I'm not so sure about "exotic" as I've been making chilli & curry since the late '80s but it was a holiday treat so as you say it wouldn't taste the same even if the contents haven't changed:)

Ah, when you said holidays ... I assumed you'd meant from the mid-late 70s :)

:rotfl::rotfl:I'm not old enough to have had kids in the 70s!!:eek::) But yes it certainly would have been exotic when I was a kid going to caravan. Though we did used to have HM curry & spag bol and the odd "Vesta" as a treat tinned stuff on hols was much more of the tinned pie, spuds & beans variety:)

I remember the days when vesta seemed quite posh. Used to take them on youth hostelling trips as a treat!

Tescos do a few of the "curry in a can" (or they do in my Tesco Extra at least). For me, the only one worth having repeatedly is their "chicken curry". They do a korma also, as well as a spicier chicken one, and a beef. But none of those are as good. They also do an Everyday Value one, but it's (unsurprisingly really!) nothing special.

I did indeed go for my walk. Unfortunately, I set off at a bit too much of a march, rather than starting gently and building up speed. As a result, my left leg was painful for the last half of the walk. Annoying but not surprising. I had a stress fracture in that leg about 8 years ago, and it's never been as good as the other leg. I don't want to be discouraged though, so tomorrow I might strap it up, and make sure I start off more gently! Lesson learned.
I did also manage to get into Waitrose for my pint of milk. I had 60p in my pocket and had a short panic looking at prices when I thought milk was 65p... Then realised I was looking at organic. Regular was 50p, so all fine!

I had a chicken wrap for lunch and am about to make coffee number 2 of the day. Might also need an allergy tablet... This summer, my hayfever has been the best it's been for years. But just this last week my eyes have been getting scratchy mid-afternoon. There must be something near me that has just flowered. Mysterious.

I like the sound of your paperweight PasturesNew! I buy myself one a year in September/October in memory of my dad who also collected them.

Back from the day out with grandchildren, rain held off and a lovely walkabout, a real pleasure to see so many families enjoying just walking around gardens

I had a "special" of cuppa & bacon butty on arrival in the cafe

Later, in Romsey, another "special" this time it was choc cake & a cuppa

I often look for Special meal deals if I'm eating out, it saves me thinking about choices plus normally good or at least reasonable value

Dinner is going to be very CBA, LO beans on toast with pair of fried eggs on top
I've got some LO stewed blackberries & apple + tinned custard if stuck later
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • Dinner today - Slimming World crustless quiche (leeks from my garden, sprouting broccoli, asparagus, tomatoes) with Slimming World baked chips.

Preceded by a banana, some watermelon and an apple.

Tell ya' I'm getting in my greens these days.

Only went to T*sco a couple of days ago. Think I'd better go again tomorrow - and get a load more vegetables.....

Still trying on clothes I "can't wear yet" from my wardrobe to encourage myself. Verdict - doesn't look like it should take THAT long before I can get into a size 12 dress I bought pretty recently (ie the correct size for me when I'm my correct size). I don't have to be that bothered about it - as I bought it for £5 from the intermittent "better" carboot sale here (as opposed to the "Why didn't they just chuck 95% of the stuff on sale here straight in the bin - as I certainly would have" other carboot sale here).
