Happy birthday Caronc.

I'm putting off going upstairs to bed as it's too hot still up there, I did lay down this afternoon but didn't really doze, his lordship laid stretched oot on my bed most of the day, he went out about 7pm and was a pain to get in.

I had an appointment at noon for my ears which I had put off once so braved the heat to go into town, I learnt and parked in Waitrose underground car park, there ticket machines weren't working so it was free 😁 met me nephew and family when I got back to my car, parked next to mine little one has not been well, high temperature on and off, doctor blamed the heat, I'm not sure I could have held the baby in his sling like my nephew was! They were going to make most of John Lewis cafe air con. I may have help out with ice cream 😋

Fruit and yogurt as a late lunch. I made a salad using a quinoa sachet, lots of fresh herbs, feta, chick peas, chopped veg and olives with some lemon juice to add some brightness to it. Not sure why I brought the quinoa I find it boring but the herbs and lemon juice helped.

@Farway - The first Boysenberries were grown here in California, not too far from here. Knotts Berry Farm was built on the sales of boysenberries - jam, juice, you name it. You can look at their sales catalog to see all of the things that can be done with them. They even have an annual Boysenberry Festival. We drink a lot of boysenberry juice here.

Ridiculously hot upstairs yesterday, was out buying a fan at 10. Sat next to it for the rest of the day 😂

Picked up a cucumber when out so lunch was houmous, cucumber sticks, feta, olives and pitta bread. Had a yummy nectarine during the afternoon. Salad for tea with LO cooked new potatoes, LO roast chicken from the freezer, tomatoes, sweetcorn and a tiny bit of disappointing avocado (the rest had to be thrown out as was black and horrible 😕). Few strawberries later.

That salad sounded nice Brambling except I don't really like quinoa either. I prefer couscous. I haven't had that in ages.

I just had some leftover cold tofu chunks for breakfast. I need to eat up those doughnut peaches as I forgot they were in the fridge.

I keep craving baked potatoes, but I'm not in the mood to have the oven on in this heat. It feels hotter in my house than yesterday.

Good morning everyone,

Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was a quiet one. Fair enjoyed our picky bits dinner and looking forward to round 2 this evening. Today is to be our hottest day before a day of thunderstorms tomorrow, 28c is too hot for my liking so will do what I need to do before lunch and then lurk in the cooler part of the house this afternoon.

Melting here, unsurprisingly as I'm not far from yesterday's UK hottest place. Humidity dropped a bit overnight, so managed to get some sleep, but it's rocketing again & maybe thunderstorms coming up from France this evening, could certainly do with a darn good drenching

Typical NE coast summer conditions today, the heat and humidity have created the dreaded sea haar. No doubt the top of the town will be bathed in sunshine but down here at the beach our view is obscured. The one good thing is it helps to keep it cooler 😎

Lunch is a repeat of yesterday to use up the avocado and seafood sticks.

Salmon quiche is defrosting for tonight with jersey royals and some more salady bits.

I agree Farway, IMO shop bought versions often need a sauce, pickles or mustard to perk them up a bit.

I do make my own spinach and feta triangles usually with toasted pinenuts, freeze them raw (except spinach) and pop them in AF frozen. Must make some again.

To farm hot to sleep last night and tonight so a slow day. I popped around to my sister for a catch up he4 lounge is a little cooler than my south facing one. I mowed the lawn about 9pm it's not very big so didn't take long. Spoke to my neighbour over the fence, not sure if I needed to see a man in his 80s shirtless 🫣
