Our buses are still operating a disrupted service but I took the chance to go into the City for a mooch around M&S foodhall.

I haven't been anywhere since the 30 Dec and was beginning to feel a bit “stir crazy” so it was great to get away from my flat for a bit. I picked up a couple of essentials and also got a reduced RM for tonight.

For lunch I had some l/o baked beans on toast.
Dinner is M&S Lasagne with some broccoli on the side.

Not surprised you were ready to get out N2BT! Hope you enjoyed your bargain posh lasagne 😉

I’ve been to do a food shop but other than that, just pottered at home. Lovely and sunny but so cold again.

Fancied salad for lunch so some of the Christmas brie with apple and pecans got added to lettuce and vinaigrette, had with a slice of seeded sourdough from the freezer. Made an old favourite of chorizo and sweet potato hash tonight but cheated and just did a fried egg instead of soft boiled.

Into town this morning to meet a friend for coffee/tea and a two hour catch-up.  I pottered around town briefly, Waitrose had carpark payment issues and were giving free three hours 😁

I met old work colleagues for dinner three of us are now retired all early the forth wasn't impressed on how we were enjoying not working 😁 she's nearly 40 so has awhile to go and is currently hating work due to too many changes.

LO rice salad and salmon for lunch.

Dinner at the pub we usually meet at located half way between us, lovely braided lamb shoulder 😋 I had to de-ice the car when we came out at 10.30 🥶

Curry and rice tonight. The curry isn't very nice but I don't want to waste it.

Banana smoothie for breakfast. Pasta and bean salad with a dash of mayo for lunch.

Must get on. Starbucks opens at 7. I'll have a chocolate porridge there while I'm studying. There's no way to study and stay healthy. I have to do two modules, catch up on the study forums and work out where I am. I skipped free choice week to have an extra long holiday and now I feel all at sea with the course. I'll probably be in Starbucks 7-8:30.

  • Still in Starbucks at 9:13. It's finally light. Diving into Block 2 Unit 2. I'm going to skim read it as it's very boring. All about small claims.

My porridge was delicious but I won't have lunch till 1 probably because it's filled me up on top of the mini banana smoothie.

Just nursing a pistashio oat latte. It's pretty nice. Top Starbucks tip - ask them to put less syrup in the flavoured drinks and it makes it palatable. The guy got muddled up and gave me a grande instead of a tall (all the sizes have funny names). It cost £6.20. On top of the cost of my pre-uni course this is making study an expensive hobby. I just love it tho.

If you need a quiet place to have a chat with someone I feel like January could be a good time to go to Starbucks. It's pretty quiet in here now.

Dull & grey again, very uninviting

Had a minor disaster first thing, the endless chain thingy that raises/lowers the bathroom blind has broken  :s
Had a quick look, hoping there is some link I can prise open to repair, can't spot one so far.
Not the end of the world, the window is not overlooked so blindless is not a problem, just a convention
Repair is made a bit harder due to my no longer being able to use a ladder safely, could be a job for DS & DGS at some time

In consolation I have made a banana loaf, smell good & now on a cooling rack

Lunch, another BLT, with warm banana cake taster
Dinner, not posh lasagne like N2BT, mine is Asda Veggie one, but I'll add extra cheese topping
And, copying N2BT idea, use the bargain price broccoli from Christmas on the side.

I did enjoy my trip JKS despite almost getting stuck in an uncleared bus layby with the driver having to reverse out till the wheels got a proper grip to get up the hill. We’ve got flooding issues now - oh the joys of winter  :s

It's supposed to be a balmy 8c tomorrow with gusty winds so with wishful thinking I’ve stripped my bed ready to get the laundry done and out early.

The last avocado finally feels ripe so for lunch I’m having it in a salad with some prawns, pink grapefruit and a dressing using sweet chilli sauce.

Turkey curry for dinner tonight, not sure about the sides I'll decide later.

    Good morning everyone,
Yep definitely let someone else use the ladders Farway!
Wet, windy and much milder here this morning.
Yesterday seemed to run away with me, managed to get the ragu base underway but didn't make soup or prep veg for the freezer so today will be a "two soups" day lol! I'm making a tweaked version of JO's curried cauli cheese soup for dinner using up LO cauli cheese frozen at New Year and a bag of par cooked cauli leaves and stalks for dinner tonight and if time/inclination permits I'll sort out a pot of veg soup for lunches.

    Eek, I wouldn't use a ladder either!

I had sourdough bread with Flora  and a cup of Yorkshire tea. I am about to make a smoothie with some frozen fruit and milk. It felt very cold yesterday and today. I'm keeping the heating on for a few hours as it was only 13 in my living room this morning.

Forgot to say the crispy shredded tofu recipe was excellent, super easy to make and really tasty. Loads of possibilities re flavour options as well. LOs for lunch today.
