Good morning everyone,
Thanks weenancy, she's a stuff kind of gal but does like to eat out so we are thinking a restaurant voucher plus tbc bits will cover it. I had a good nosey on the John Lewis website yesterday and have some ideas to run past the others.
Hope folk are too badly affected by the snow/storm we have ice and sleet forecast but so far it's just cold, grey and damp.
Tesco are due later with one okay sub and a short dated item I'll hand back.
I decided yesterday I had a real notion for lentil soup for lunch rather than the two types I had in the freezer. There is sometimes a tin of the Tesco Lentil and Red Pepper in the cupboard but it had been used and not replaced. I'd bookmarked this one ages ago Store cupboard soup | River Cottage Reunited and it was an absolute dawdle to make especially as I had blocks of crushed garlic and ginger in the freezer. I did add a little cayenne and some dried parsley but otherwise stuck to the recipe and it took just 45mins from thought to bowl and was delicious. More for lunch again today. Usual Friday tbc for dinner tonight.3 -
No snow here, just cold wind & rain.I want to chiropodist first thing, bit heart stopping because the car has not been started since before Christmas, so a few coughs before it "caught"The wind is bitter, glad to be back home, but I did detour slightly on the way home to go along the motorway, just to give the car & battery a bit of a run & warm upLunch, fresh "bake at home" Bloomer with my delivery, now baked and ready for LO ham & lettuce sandwichDinner, LO ham, eggs & AF chips, need easy comfort stuff, it's so dull & grey outNumerus non sum2

My hairdresser had to cancel my appointment this morning, she lives at a slightly higher altitude than me and couldn’t get safely from her house to her car, never mind down the road. We've rescheduled for late afternoon tomorrow, fingers and toes crossed for more of a thaw.
Some leftover kedgeree for my lunch today - it was a chunky piece of fish and I was a bit generous with the rice so not bad for a £2 odd bit of fish.
After Caronc mentioned sausages I remembered I had one of my local butcher's pork & black pudding sausages still lurking in the freezer so that is dinner tonight with some baked beans and mashed potatoes.

I bought some vegan Brie from Waitrose the other day so I just had the last of it with some crackers before I left for my hair appointment. It is very grey and rainy here. Quite cold too. I bought a protein bar and a bottle of water with me.2

I might make that store cupboard soup this weekend as I just bought red lentils and frozen peas in my last grocery order.2

So, no snow but that cold wind was back and not much sign of the sun. Apparently it warms up hugely next week…
Nipped out to return an order of sales clothes that I don’t like/don’t fit at lunchtime then had soup and nice bread for lunch.
Made chipotle chicken and black bean fajitas tonight with cheese and avocado 😋2 -
JKS I think next week its warmer but rain all week! It's been grey and wet today with a cold wind, just as well I was volunteering so it didn't matter. My bedside lamp broke last night, both the shade and fitting had got brittle and gave up when i changed the bulb, they are about 20 years old so owe me nothing, although I have one the other side of the bed in a better condition I want a matching set so ordered a pair from Dunelm which were reasonable priced with good reviews. The volunteer office is next to the store so easy to pop across lunchtime to pick them up, I've chosen touch ones to avoid the fumbling for the on switch at 3am 🙄 let's hope the cat doesn't turn them on as he sits on the bedside table. I'm happy with them, just need to get bulbs tomorrow as they need to be dimmable.
Rice salad with spinach and salmon for lunch.

I'm having a toasted bagel with Flora and marmalade before I leave for my class and I'm going to squeeze some orange juice.
I made the red lentil and pea soup yesterday when I got home so I have a bowl of that for lunch and I got the bread rolls out of the freezer last night.2 -
Much brighter this morning, blue sky & sunshine, after a frosty night, still a blooming cold windLunch, back to BLT now I have L & T backDinner, MFO, stab & ping Chicken TikkaNumerus non sum2

Good morning everyone,
I hope you enjoy the pea and lentil soup as much as we have. I thought it was even tastier yesterday after "maturing" overnight. There's one portion left which I'll either have for lunch or freeze.
Icy here today so another day of not venturing further than the deck. DS2 will do the bin run etc. It's very grey and the sky is heavy so we may yet get the forecasted sleet/snow before the day is out. I've plenty to keep me occupied I want to make a big batch of ragu over the next few days so may start the veg prep. My soup stash is lower than I like so need to do something about that at some point and there's still cheap Christmas veg to prep for the freezer.
Lunch will either be soup or a BLT wrap. Trying this for dinner tonight Vegan BBQ Shredded Tofu (shredded chicken) • It Doesn't Taste Like Chicken we'll have it with a baked spud, salad and HM coleslaw.3
