  • @Brambling - Hah! She should have let you spend more time in the bookstore, then you wouldn't have had the time to beat her at 3 games of scrabble!

@caronc - Your poor nephew - sounds like a miserable travel day. Does he get any travel refunds for it?
I used to travel on the train here a lot. They don't give any refunds if they are late. When traveling on the long distance trains - Salt Lake to Los Angeles type where it once took two days to get there, they did stop in one town and get KFC dinners for everyone. And on another trip where we stuck in the train station overnight, they set up a buffet for us to eat. But we had to spread our blankets on the floor to sleep.

weenancyinAmerica i may have suggested it was pay back for pulling me out too soon I could have spent hours in there 📕 I'll go back on my own next time.

Horrendous rain this morning, I had a team meeting at Petworth and wondered if I would get back my usual route! My sister was coming with me and was going to wander around with my free guest pass  decided home with a book was a better option.  I did get back in the dry and we went to the strawberry farm cafe for lunch before spending some time with my other sister and her granddaughter who had demanded our appearance.

After lunch out we just had a sandwich for dinner.

Yes he'll get the ticket refunded but he was still "fair scunnered" ( fed up) as they say round here! That sounds dreadful, KFC or buffet or not I would have been expecting at least a partial refund. Here if there is a delay of more than 15 mins you can claim a refund.

    Good morning everyone,
Showery and cold again today, I did manage to get to my flu jab and back without getting rained on which was good. I still have some of the lurgy but they were happy to go ahead as I'd had the symptoms for so long. As the guy said if they knocked everyone one with minor lurgies hardly anyone would be getting the jab! Tesco are arriving later. Alongside my usual order I've added lamb, pork and salmon sides so I'll be busy portioning meat and fish over the next few days. My Christmas butcher's stuff also arrived yesterday so the turkey is in the freezer and over the weekend I'll put together tubs of pigs in blankets.
Soup from the freezer for lunch and tonight is the usual Friday tbc.
  • A mixture of sunshine and showers here today with some heavy showers heading our way later.

I went to the butcher shop yesterday and picked up a piece of short rib for soup. I made the stock yesterday in the SC and soaked the broth mix overnight. Got it on to cook early so will have a flavoursome bowl of scotch broth for lunch and quite a few portions for the freezer  B)

Visited the fishmonger this morning and picked up a tail end piece of salmon which will give me 3 portions, I’ll freeze two and use one tonight for teriyaki style salmon with a vegetable fried rice.

  • I had to go and pick up my library books and there were 6 of them there and so I had to bring my backpack to carry them back!

I didn't have breakfast so I bought a sandwich wrap, a salad and crisps from Coop on the way home.

That sounds lovely. Don’t suppose you have the recipe you could share please?

Started bright here so had the windows open for a bit to change the air. Rain came in during the afternoon and it’s chucking it down now 😕

Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel for lunch. Sausage and spinach gnocchi tonight.

Been another long week and the lurgy has lingered so looking forward to a restful weekend.

Rain stopped, and just a hint of blue sky

A restless night for me, my left knee is swollen & painful, no idea why, but it was enough to keep me awake, so I got up early and slapped some embrocation gel stuff on it that I had LO from my last bout
Hope it clears soon, last time lingered for a few weeks, which now would run into Christmas  :(
I'll be taking it easy & resting the leg, no point in pushing it if I do not need to

Lunch,  I'll just pick at the LO chicken, don't want to spend long upright on my pins
Dinner, MFO RM spinach & ricotta Cannelloni, just needs bunging to heat in oven
