It's been a horrid wet day here, heavy rain for most of it ☔️
I decided against staying indoors and drove out to The Range for a couple of bits and popped into Tescos next door for a lovely cauliflower (I think it was Farway who mentioned them) leeks because I forgot them and a red pepper as Ocardo don't sale individual ones. Some YS tandoori chicken fell into the bag 🙂 Home via my sisters house where I stole back my small food processor and left her some books. So much water on the roads.By the time I got home from Tesco I had received a email with recipe ideas for cauliflower and leek recipes!
Tandoori chicken with salad for lunch. Rest of the chicken with rice and tomato salad for dinner.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Good morning everyone,
Yesterday turned into a lovely sunny Autumn day, shame it's back to damp gloom this morning!
I too bought a cauliflower and leeks this week, one of the leeks and some of the cauliflower got used in my smoked fish dish of Friday. Some of the cauli went into Saturday's curry and I'm thinking probably soup with the rest.
I had a lovely catch up with my friend and then my sister popped over late afternoon so I didn't get much done on the domestic front, There's a few bits I want to tackle today as well as prepping tomorrow's dinner as I have an evening meeting. I also want to mop through as we didn't get that done on Sunday. If I have time I might make as pot of soup as the HM freezer stocks are running low.
Fridge bits or soup for lunch and tonight it's JO's sweet and sour pork with peaches which we'll have with rice and steamed veg.1 -

Don't want to order on line because that has always failed to produce a decent one. I need to see before buying nowLunch, tin of soup I think, try the on offer C===kaleekieDinner, last of the smoked mackerel fillets, with new spuds & saladAsda delivery tomorrow, so can start over

I picked up a lovely large cauli in tesco today too, although I’m still working through the head of broccoli I got from the reduced section on friday, at the moment it’s still green so I need to focus on it.
Lunch was a portion of carrot & coriander soup from the freezer.
Dinner tonight is a broccoli & cheddar souffle with roasted tomatoes.

Office day today, was only just getting light when I went out this morning. Has mostly been grey again, and drizzly this evening. Curtains drawn about 6.30 😕
Cream cheese and ham bagel with tomatoes and cucumber for lunch. Other portion of the pork, leek and cider casserole from the freezer tonight, with rice and sugar snap peas.1 -
Farway the sun lasted until lunchtime then the rain returned although not as bad as yesterday.
Freezer sort this morning with lists updated, I found a pack of butter brought when they were still 250g!Afterwards I drove out to the art shop looking for an idea for my sisters birthday present, it was a cheap trip! I came home via the farm shop as you go past to see if they had any turkey drumsticks. Unfortunately no turkey and I purposely avoided looking at anything else on the butcher counter 🙂 I picked up a small celeriac and a large punnet of greengages.Late lunch of cheese and crackers when I got home with a tomato salad.I kind of followed a JO recipe for dinner minus the salmon, couscous with chickpeas, frozen Mediterranean veg and a basil, tomato, harissa paste all baked. Not sure about frozen med veg? I sprinkled some feta cheese over it. Even halved far too much made 🤷♀️whilst the oven was on I made a potato and celeriac Boulangere which I picked at and nibbled the top off whilst cooking and soused a couple of mackerel. Which thinking about is a strange combination. Cauliflower will need some thinking over it is a very nice large (maybe too late for cfo) white one, I'm fancying cauliflower cheese but that may wane.
The family have been expecting two babies this week (both on the 19th) my eldest sister phoned to say her grandsons baby was born this morning a little girl, it's other grandmother is Icelandic so my sister is having difficulties with her Icelandic name, I'll have to speak to my niece for the correct name. My other sister is hoping my nephew's baby waits until the weekend so she doesn't have to miss work looking after the little one.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Good morning everyone,
Congratulations on the new baby Brambling. I don't think soused mackerel and celeriac Boulangere sounds odd, vibes of Jansson's temptation, which works for me.
Sunny but decidedly chilly here today, I had a routine GP appointment and it was blooming cold waiting for my taxi afterwards. I'm looking forward to a warming bowl of HM cauli and leek soup for lunch. I've an early evening meeting tonight so I prepped a sausage pasta sauce yesterday. DS2 will sort out pasta and salad while I'm online.1 -
I had bread with butter and Marmite and then a banana with a few crisps as a snack.I’m going to bake some tofu in the air fryer and some tomatoes and have it with rice and spinach in a mushroom sauce for lunch.
it felt colder earlier so I put the halogen heater on. It doesn’t feel that bad now the sun has come out.1
