    Good morning everyone,
Yep definitely soup season, it's another grey and chilly one here so a bowl of soup just hits the spot. :)
Yesterday I felt chilly until I lit the stove in the evening so thicker socks and an extra layer have been donned today.
I need to finalise tomorrow's Tesco order and sort out dinner for tonight as my sis and nephew are coming over. Lunch will be more of the tomato soup and tonight we are having peppers stuffed with taco mince (loosely based on a Tesco website recipe), mashed avocado, salsa type salad, corn cobettes and HM wedges.

I’ve had a lovely week away - a few family celebrations and get togethers, but back to reality now with old clothes and porridge  :D

We stopped off for lunch on the way home and I picked up an Arbroath smokie on the way to make my cfo version of this James Martin recipe for my tea https://www.jamesmartinchef.co.uk/recipes/arbroath-smokie-omelette/

    Nice.😊

I must give porridge another go as it is meant to be so good for you. I used to like it when I was younger.

Long day in the office but now in bed with hot water bottle 😊

Today my lunchbox had couscous with slow roasted tomatoes, olives and feta. Quick and easy pesto pasta with tuna, broccoli, end of the green beans and the end of a bag of rocket.

I tend to soak my oats in milk overnight I think it makes a better porridge and then add fruit to it usually banana and blueberries or raspberries.  I've just put my first oats/milk of the season into the fridge for breakfast.

I was called around to my elderly friend again today re a text about mobile phone changes, I was a little annoyed as it turned out it wasn't urgent it doesn't need sorting until the 26th November 🙄 She's a little off this week after her fall so I'm picking up a friend of hers who is nearly blind on Tuesday and driving them to lunch I may need a very large gin when I get home afterwards, last time I had to apologised to the waitress as we left  :#

My sister popped around late afternoon and did enough pruning to fill my garden bin for tomorrow, the tree(?) had gone mad, not sure what it is but it will need to be removed eventually, she took it down to where we would need a saw to finish and I don't have one. She's eyeing up my half leg of lamb as a roast dinner thank you 😁

i made soup before lunch similar to the last one I made, vegetables, cannellini beans, rice noodles and I took the skin off some Italian sausages to make little meatballs to add to it.  There are a couple of portions of the last one in the freezer but I wanted to use up the odds and sods of veg before the next delivery.  I've made 6 portions so will freeze a couple as well.  I had a big portion for lunch.

Dinner was a salmon poke bowl, using some pre cooked salmon and loads of chopped raw veg and salad stuff with a boiled egg and jasmine rice with a sprinkle of black sesame seeds.  LOs for a cold version for lunch tomorrow

Work bash tonight and food was provided so I have eaten well!

I have taken a lovely chicken, leek and asparagus farmer's market pie from the freezer for the next few days.  They feed 3 or 4 people so I will just live on it until it's gone :D

I am going to do some batch cooking over the weekend too, then water bath can it in jars so it is shelf stable and can just heat it up whenever I fancy.
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

    Good morning everyone,
Glad you enjoyed your break NB2T, my it's been years I had a smokie!
Still grey and murky, the weather seems stuck on this and seems to be a tad colder every day. I've ramped up the layers but still seem to be chilly, probably not helped by having a minor, so far, lurgy with runny nose and scratchy throat. I've nothing much planned for today so with try and stay cosy,  have lots of warm drinks and hope it disappears quickly.
Stuffed pepper "tacos" went down a treat. I made a large tray and there's a couple of 1/2 peppers left which will do DS2 and I nicely for lunch. Dinner is usual Friday tbc.

Grey again, maybe some rain come Sunday so the forecast says, the garden needs a good watering.

Talking of soup, when I was in Morries yesterday I was on the lookout for Baxters French onion, the Baxters are on offer a £1, normally near £2.
I was Johnny come lately, big empty shelf  :( . But did get two c=ckaleekie [MSE doesn't like male chickens], which will do a nice warmer one day

I used to, but found it did not make much différance to mine.
I put milk / water in the oats bowl to soak as I'm making my cuppa, drink cuppa, loaf around a bit etc, and then zap it in the microwave, using the same bowl I'm going to eat it from
Only cheap oats, so plenty of oaty dust in them, maybe posher ones are different?
    Fruit etc added on completion

Lunch, YS pork pie bought yesterday, plus salad bits
Dinner, YS cod in batter, also yesterday, plus oven chips & frozen peas

I hope you feel better soon Caronc and don't disappear with the update!

I had an iced matcha and toast with Flora and Marmite.

I bought some veggie sausage rolls at a fayre recently so I have taken two out to defrost and will AF them for lunch. I might have it with a salad as I have lots of tomatoes and fresh basil and I have some balsamic glaze that I only remembered I had when I cleaned out my fridge the other day.

Dinner will definitely involve potatoes as I have loads of them.
