Sort of bright grey, hint of sun for later?

Glad the visit went well Brambling, the M27 is  real pain, no sooner finish one lot than another starts
Some of it is the bridges need replacing, not sure if it's old age or not big or wide enough now, plus, the should have been built but never were junctions, which you may have spotted as dead-end exits
Anyway, I just asked Chat, and

For J5–J7, full lane-closures associated with the resurfacing will most likely persist until spring 2026, especially on the westbound side.

For Junction 10, expect lane restrictions through late 2026.

At Junction 12, the main phase of works (including lane closures) should be wrapping up by November 2025.

So, one way or the other it looks like slow for most of the next year  :(

Lunch, trying to think of something that isn't toast, tin of soup maybe?
Dinner, use up before Asda tomorrow. Last of the honey ham, last of the frozen chips plus last couple of eggs

It was very warm yesterday when I was out. I was wearing thick winter socks which was a big mistake and I felt very hot after I walked home. Today looks grey and not as warm.

I didn't make pasta yesterday as I fancied a stir fry. I marinated Quorn pieces in olive oil and peri peri seasoning and had it with peppers, onions and courgettes. I squeezed fresh lemon over the top and it was delicious.

I am about to make a cherry smoothie and then have a toasted bagel with a cup of lemon and ginger tea. I am off out to London to eat out again tonight so I will have something small for lunch.

    Good morning everyone,
    Another gloomy, showery day,
I love Marmite on toast etc. but I'm not so keen on it as a drink and vice versa with Bovril.
Apart from routine chores and cleaning the bathroom I've not much planned though intend to make a pot of carrot and coriander soup this afternoon.
Some more of the chicken and rice soup for lunch, in all I got 9 generous portions out of the pan so will freeze the rest today. Trying this for dinner tonight Baked Greek Fish (Psari Plaki) - The Mediterranean Dish though will reduce the quantity. We'll have it with rice, Calvo Nero, baby corn, sugar snaps and green beans.

I got side tracked and forgot to post yesterday but had the following

L - Pea and ham soup
D - Turkey koftas, roast beetroot, couscous and a yoghurt tahini sauce.

Today I had leftovers for lunch and for dinner I’m taking the easy option and diving into the freezer for a portion of quiche, potato wedges and I’ll have whatever veg is looking a bit sad and needs using up.

Thanks Farway and Chat 😁 it feels like a decade at least of working on the M27 I think it started with the fourth lane then turning it into a smart motorway 🙄

Dentist checkup this morning which is no longer nhs so painful, made worst by having to book for a filling next week and a repair to an existing one which needed a deposit paid today as well 😕 unfortunately the only dentist in town offering nhs has a really bad reputation.

I'm still catching up on a couple of bad nights and fell asleep in the chair after lunch and woke up with a sore neck.  It also meant the chicken I planned to cook has had to wait.

Beans on toast for lunch.  I made some asparagus and ham quiches using old El Paso soft tortilla boats instead of pasty

    Good morning everyone,
Cold and grey though dry at the moment.
I like the sound of these quiches Brambling.
Fish dish last night was really good, definitely on the make again list. Managed to scale the recipe to just make enough for the two of us so no LOs.
Yesterday I froze the remaining chicken & rice soup. There's enough of it for a main meal for us both. While I was cooking dinner I made pot of carrot and coriander soup. There's portions so will cover our lunches for a couple of days. Tonight it's spag bol using a tub of ragu from the freezer.

Dull but trying to be brighter

Asda delivery first thing, two minor subs, and no half price or free stuff this time  :(

Caronc talking about soup, and I now have odd sticks of LO celery with my fresh delivery, I feel like having soup for the weekend. Certainly easy enough, just time & a little effort

Lunch, Pate on use up bread toast

Yum, the food at the Chinese in London last night was lovely. I had spring rolls, special fried rice and a spicy dish with tofu, veg and peanuts.

I just had some crackers and mushroom pate and I'm about to take some frozen fruit out to have a smoothie later.

I am going to do a recipe to use up the fresh veg I have left in the fridge. I have lots of tomatoes so I am going to make a batch of roasted tomato soup and I might get some tortilla wraps out and make burritos with the veggies and beans.

What a good idea Brambling and probably fewer calories than pastry.

Not such a nice day here, we had rain early on but overcast now. I had a great view of the Harvest moon last night but very much doubt if I’ll see it tonight with all this cloud.

Eggy bread and grilled tomatoes for lunch and mince and tatties tonight.

Dry enough here to get a load of bedding/towels dried on the line this afternoon but not as sunny as it has been.

LO green veg pesto pasta for lunch. Early tea of scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast.
