    Good morning everyone,
Unusually for me I was up and out early as I had a hair appointment. My I wish I'd brought a hat and scarf rather than just gloves as it's really cold out. The sun  is trying to break through now I don't think the temperature will lift much.
Hair cuts tend to knock my balance off a bit so a quite afternoon is planned.
Soup from the freezer for lunch and tonight I'm making Meliz Berg's chicken flatbreads which we'll have with salad and HM oven chips.

Grey and overcast again today so not doing very much other than catching up with the TV series of a Scots Quair by Lewis Grassic Gibbon which is on BBC Four at the moment, it must be about 50 years since it was first shown.

I made a not so authentic version of tapenade to go with some other picky bits for lunch, another empty jar from the condiments cupboard  :)

Chicken & green pepper pasta tonight with hm garlic bread.

Farway I very rarely get SMART vouchers I can use, Waitrose tend to provide vouchers from stuff I buy, not sure why I had four this week, one was 50p off a 60p tin of tomatoes which tbh I don't usually buy in Waitrose as other SM own brands are cheaper.

Volunteering at petworth today and it was so busy it was free entry, crafts for the kids and later a laser show on the house, with music etc.  I swapped out at 3.30pm with a local volunteer and was glad to leave as the house was closing at its usual winter time of 3.30pm so people were killing time in the shops and cafe before the laser show started at 5.30pm.  The car park was manic with cars driving around and around with a guy wanting my space but not giving me room to get out 🙄

I cooked a lazy dinner for my sister, I picked up pulled pork on offer last night and made coleslaw and garlic sweet potato chips, we had the pork and coleslaw in a roll.

    Chicken roll for lunch

Still grey, cold, and now windy. Just not brightened up at all.
Despite that, I've made a start sowing some seeds indoors yesterday, and hoping summer comes along eventually.

Lunch, I keep umming & ahhing, sandwich? Omelette? Si it's TBD at the moment.
Dinner, Freezer clearance, breaded cod fillet + frozen chips in AF

    Good afternoon everyone,
I read a Scots Quair for English Higher and have reread the books at various points over the years. Heartbreakingly hard.
Grey and raw here today. The kids are currently at the beach with the pooches. I think they'll be frozen when they get back so will pop the heating on shortly. Veg minestrone is heating up and I'll sort out bacon butties once they're back and my sister and Ari have arrived.
Yesterday I hauled out my biggest pot (10L) and made a monster batch of lentil and mushroom ragu. Not 10L worth more like 6L but still a huge amount.  I'm feeding 5/6 tomorrow evening and need a veggie lasagne for five in a couple of weeks. I reckon there will still be spare so might also make up a small lasagne or cottage type pie for DS2 and I. My "big" pot doesn't get much use these days so it was nice to see it simmering away on the stove.  :)
Tonight we are having roast lamb using LO meat and gravy from a few weeks ago. I'll make some roasties and there's sprouts, carrots and green beans to have with it.

I had to look this up 🙂 definitely not taught in Dorset schools 😁 it had to be better than the Chaucer they made us read for A level 🥱

Lazy day after two volunteering days, just a two hour telephone call with my sister in the new forest.

LO meatballs and pasta for lunch.  Some nice aged rump Steak from the freezer (YS of course 😁) with sweet potato fries, mushrooms and sweetcorn, it came with a peppercorn sauce.

    Good morning everyone,
Well worth a read (or watch) Brambling.
Grey, cold and sleety here this morning, really not nice out at all. Isn't bothering Hector and Frank who have been playing mad tuggies in the garden. Hopefully it will tire them out as it will be this evening before they get a proper walk.
Family back for dinner this evening - pasta bake with lentil ragu and feta. We'll have it with salad and crusty bread. I'll make up a large lasagne for the freezer while I'm sorting out dinner ready to take away with me in a couple of weeks.
    LO soup for dinner.

Lovely bright and sunny weather here. I just aired out all the house with the windows open and then put the heating on as it is 12 downstairs. My cat is asleep on the rug in a puddle of sunshine in the living room.

I am going to have croissants with butter and jam in a minute and some Yorkshire tea.
