Good morning everyone,
Cold and bright here today.
Unfortunately I'm a bit snuffly so think DS2 may have shared his cold. Hopefully it won't develop into much.
The storage boxes I ordered didn't arrive yesterday, they're due today so it will probably be the weekend or next before I resume decluttering. As I then had some extra time I made a pan of mushroom heavy minestrone soup, not for any particular purpose but to use up a punnet of mushrooms. Serendipity must have been at work as DS1 and DIL2B have now asked if we can have Frank overnight on Sunday and will have lunch here so I'm going to freeze it for then to have with bacon rolls.
Made a batch of egg mayo yesterday so lunch will be another egg mayo and salad wrap. Easy chicken & veg curry tonight utilising a lurking jar of tikka masala sauce. We'll have it with rice, naan and HM raita.0 -
I had to go and have a blood test and I didn't eat beforehand as I can never remember if you have to fast. I got home and had toast, one slice with a mashed avocado and one with mushroom pate. I also had some veggie straw crisps as I saw them in the shop.
I have these tikka flavoured soya pieces that I got from Asda and they were meant to be eaten by yesterday so I will have them for lunch. I will make basmati rice and whatever veg I have. Probably carrots and peppers. I have mango chutney too.0 -
Much nicer day today, still a chill in the air but at least the wind has died down and we've had sun!!
Found long forgotten slices of smoked salmon in the freezer, so for lunch I had a slim bagel stuffed with the salmon, cream cheese, cucumber and capers.
Tonight I'm having an onion bhajis, mushroom curry, hm flatbread and salad.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Weather very much the same as yesterday but I'll take the grey and cold as long as it's dry
As I suspected setting an elderly friend up with an apt for her credit card would lead to requests for help 🫣 I spent a couple of hours hopefully sorting out a query for her and some other jobs. I'm sure the headache I've had all afternoon was just a coincidence!Squash soup from the freezer for lunch. I made some spicy meatballs for dinner and had with tomato sauce and pasta for dinnerLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

It looks quite lovely and sunny and bright out there today, still a bit chilly. I know Spring is coming as the birds are making a racket.
I am going out for brunch today.2025 GOALS

Good morning everyone,
Dry but overcast and raw here today.
My cold is no worse and DS2's is on the wane so I'm hoping mine follows a similar path.
Just had three builder's bags of logs delivered, DS2 will get them stashed tomorrow. That should cover until the end of Autumn.
My storage boxes didn't arrive until the evening so no decluttering done yesterday and with the family here for brunch on Sunday it will probably be next week before I start hauling out the remaining kitchen cupboards.
Not much planned for today apart from putting away my Tesco order later and the usual daily chores.
To go with last night's curry DS2 made Indian spiced onions and peppers. Very good but made loads so I'm going to scramble LOs with eggs for lunch. Usual Friday tbc for dinner.0 -
Its overcast here as well, but my neighbour obviously thinks spring is on the way too; his daughter has just brought around some planters filled with primroses and violas to brighten up our garden area.
Leftover curry and flatbread for lunch.
Found a small portion of beef stew in the freezer so decided to make Stovies tonight. Its a good way of extending a small amount of meat & gravy into two meals . It was something my flatmate and I used to do regularly in our college days back in the 70's when were hard up and wanted to save our last 50p for two half pints of lager and a packet of crispsJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Late tonight as I fell asleep downstairs it was a volunteering day in town so only a couple of miles away, it was cold but there was a blue sky, unfortunately I was indoors all day 🤨 lovely to drive home at five in day light
I forgot to get milk before driving home so popped back out to Waitrose after 6.30pm and got a couple of bits to make a easy dinner to feed my sister tomorrow night and used my vouchers I was given four this week and saved £2.50. NT volunteering tomorrow so I needed something quick and easy for dinner. It's going to be busy as I missed there was an event at Petworth when I put myself down to work 🫣 it's half term so it will probably be manic again.Chicken and watercress salad for lunch. Pork belly slices for dinner with rice and stirfry vegLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
