I made a healthy lunch to use veg up. Penne with garlic, lentils pepper, courgette, kale and tomatoes. A sprinkle of cheese on top. It has rained a bit here, but it is just very grey and dull.0

caronc said:Good afternoon everyone,
It's batten down the hatches time here as we are smack in the middle of tomorrow's red weather alert. When I saw the forecast this morning I thought oh oh, we were yellow but upgraded to amber a couple of hours ago. I'm charging up my puck lights and got the thermos flasks out of the cupboard just in case.

Woken by the wind at 4.00am but the worst of it not due here till this afternoon. Spectacular waves already but thankfully the moon is waning so the tide is not too high.
Decided to have a boiled egg and an oatcake for breakfast, I've filled a small flask with hot soup and another with hot water - just in case.
I've defrosted a portion of chicken curry for tonight but if the power goes off I've plenty of cold foods but would hopefully get something hot from one of the local eateries.
I hope Caronc is safe over there on the west coast, see you on the other side of the storm, take careJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Good morning everyone,
My it's wild here but should peak over the next few hours. Lots of flooding at the sea front and several roads closed due to debris, trees down etc. One plus is that high tide isn't due until the worst of it is due to be over. Sensibly my sis left her car up here as she is only a few meters from the sea so there's lots of spray and debris coming past her block. I've lost some slates and the neighbour's aerial is down but so far the fences are holding. Most business and shops are closed at least until this evening. Power is okay so far but one of the estates on the edge of town has had no electricity for a few hours. I'm always glad for the gas hob and wood burner when there's a likelihood of power outages , I've charged my phone and kindle and I've plenty of candles.
Today I need to cook a gammon and start the Coronation chicken for tomorrow's buffet. Must remember to defrost the quiche I made last week.
LO pasta for lunch. Usual Friday tbc for dinner.0 -
Volunteering day for me, luckily in town as the traffic was really bad this morning, all our wheelie bins were still standing when I left but the main road next to us had a stretch were every one was blown over, bins and rubbish all over the road and then suddenly everyone upright again 🤷♀️ obviously selected gusts!
The rain stopped by mid morning and we were quite busy.
I took a chicken salad in for lunch. Dinner LO pork mince and black beans with riceLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Last year I didn't enjoy the local butchers haggis so decided to give it a miss this year but will give Rabbie a nod with some of his poetry
