It felt so cold when I was getting dressed this morning and there is still frost outside. It is sunny at least. I had tea and toast with Flora and Marmite this morning. I'm going to make coconut butternut squash soup for lunch to have with a baton. I might make some roasted chickpeas in the air fryer as I feel like i havent had them in ages.
I'm not sure about dinner.0 -
Good morning everyone,
Another bright and icy one, DS1 and DIL2B return home today. They are currently enjoying lunch in Geneva as they have a 6 hour gap between flights. They are going to find it chilly after the mild Athens weather. They will collect Frank tomorrow and I've promised HM chicken & rice soup for lunch. I prepped the veg for it yesterday so will cook it this afternoon. Fridge bits for lunch and usual Friday tbc for dinner.0 -
Shuffled along the icy pavements to the fishmonger this morning, despite the sunshine and footfall the compacted snow and ice are not melting much at all.
Beans on toast for lunch.
There was only one smoked haddock fillet left which was huge, but that's what I fancied having. I cut it in half, one piece for the freezer the other for tonight with mashed potatoes and peas.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

So cold today and tonight, haven’t left the house. Had a very calm, productive wfh day.
Spinach and ricotta tortellini with tuna, sweetcorn and sun dried tomatoes for lunch. Thai prawn curry with baby sweetcorn, sugar snap peas and noodles tonight.0 -
It was -4 when I left at 8.30am this morning 🥶 luckily I was only volunteering in town rather than driving 17 miles cross country to Petworth. I got caught by a neighbour walking her dog as I defrosted she was all bundled up with hand warmers and told me off for not having a coat on, to be fair I didn't expect to be chatting for so long 🙂
I took a salmon and watercress salad to volunteering using LO salmon. I had a half bag of stirfry veg to use up so another stirfry thistime with pork fillet, I made a double batch of sauce yesterday so nice and quickLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
It looks very chilly out there with a hard frost. It looks pretty as it is sunny, though.
I am going to have a shower and then have toast. I'm going to make a soup and also a pasta bake with the last of a sauce jar and whatever veggies need using up. I sorted out all my tupperware boxes the other day so I am going to have them all neatly in my fridge with the food.
I'm going to be indoors most of the day with this cold weather. I'm going to cook, read and watch YouTube.2025 GOALS

Good afternoon everyone,
Another very hard frost here with snow forecast for this afternoon. Going by the sky it could be right though it's to turn to rain overnight.
DS1 & DIL2B got back to Scotland late yesterday evening and they are due here shortly for lunch. The soup is heating gently on the stove, I've bought some nice bread and there's plenty of cheese left from Christmas. Sorted! After lunch the kids are taking pooches for a good run about before Frank goes home. It's been lovely having him but two young dogs with a lot of energy and mischief is quite a lot of work so I'm looking forward to things not being so manic.
I've started doing some family tree mapping, nothing major more to fill gaps in names etc. So far it's confirmed some stuff, answered a few questions and raised some more. I can see why folk can get engrossed in it.
HM burgers (from the freezer) and salad for dinner.0 -
Still very icy underfoot, we've had a shower of rain this morning which has made the pavements even worse. Thankfully it's going to be 5c tomorrow then a wonderful 10c on Monday
I may actually get some washing out.
Finished the tin of beans at lunchtime, on toast again.
Decided to make a broccoli and stilton quiche for tea tonight, I'll have it with a kale, red onion, sweetcorn and beetroot salad.

We reached the dizzy heights of 2 degrees today but it has been lovely and sunny. Only went out to do a small grocery shop but had to scrape the windscreen a bit, even at nearly 2 p.m.
Baked beans and fried egg on potato waffles for lunch. Made a new recipe of chorizo and red pepper gnocchi tonight (was yummy), served with broccoli.
