    Good afternoon everyone,
Hatches are duly battened down but at the moment it's dry though the wind is beginning to build up. It's supposed to peak here late afternoon which unfortunately coincides with high tide and residents near the shore have been recommended to move their cars. My sis is going to park her's up at my house as she's right next to where the sea is most likely to breach the wall.
Hope everyone stays safe and dry.
Plans today include cooking a vat of turkey broth for dinner tomorrow. DS1 and DIL2B are collecting Frank and my sis will join us. I have physio at lunch time so wanted something easy that I could make today.
Eggs for lunch, possibly scrambled or boiled. Balmoral chicken tonight using skinned and boned chicken thighs with veg, roasties and peppercorn sauce.
  • Another wet, windy and grey start to the day. Finally brightened up early afternoon.

Bed stripped and remade, bedroom thoroughly dusted and hoovered, even pulled the bed out and sorted all the shoe boxes underneath. Floors downstairs hoovered and mopped. Tidied a kitchen drawer of doom too 🙃

Creamy mushrooms on toast for lunch. Sesame crusted tuna steak, gingery sweet potato mash and stir fried pak choi tonight.

Autumn has definitely arrived today, we missed the storm down here but it has rained all day and brought the leaves down

My sister and I went to the garden centre the other side of town this afternoon to their cake cafe 😋 it was really busy I'm assuming people like us wanting to get out 🙂 I had a cuppa and a cherry scone. They make all the cakes and scones behind the counter to show they are all made in house

Bowl of my Italian wedding soup for lunch.  I made a fish cake from the LO mash and smoked haddock and heated the last of the LO broccoli cheese

    Good morning everyone,
The storm wasn't as fierce as predicted and peaked later than forecast missing high tide so no major flooding at the shore. It's still pretty blowy this morning but dry just now. I'm hoping the rain stays off until after I've been to physio.
I made a large Balmoral chicken rather than individual ones and there's plenty LO. It's lovely thinly sliced with pickle in a sandwich so that's lunch covered. Turkey broth and cheese board tonight. The soup just needs finishing so an easy crowd pleaser for the family.

Dry this morning, but it was awful yesterday as I drove back from DS, one journey I was glad to complete.

At last, I used the tin of Ma Made marmalade pulp that's been lurking in my cupboard.
It was DS that spurred me on, looking around the garden centre yesterday, post café & cheese scone, likewise made in house, he was looking for plain old, nothing added, marmalade & couldn't find any.
Anyway, I now have 6 + two small jars of marmalade cooling

    Lunch, grilled cheese on toast
    Dinner, pizza from the freezer
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • I got an Indian takeaway last night. I have leftover Bombay potato and an onion bhaji for dinner tonight. I will make some rice and vegetables and add chickpeas or Quorn pieces.

I had toast for breakfast with Flora.

I'm not sure about lunch yet.

  • Here on the east coast we got off lightly, there was quite a high tide and some overtopping but nothing of any concern, other than the unobservant getting caught out by a rogue wave soaking them as the walked along the prom  :D

Leftover chicken and salad in a pitta for lunch.

A portion of macaroni cheese from the freezer for tea tonight with peas and pickled beetroot.

  • A very rare office day with no meetings so a few catch ups with team members and some actual tasks completed 🙃

Broccoli and Stilton soup with a chunk of sourdough for lunch. Made pasta puttanesca tonight, served with broccoli. Already looking forward to LOs for lunch tomorrow (it was good 😉)

I'm glad the Scottish contingent weren't washed away 😁

My hip has been 'unhappy' at night so another bad night sleep for me, I fed his lordship about 7am and went back to bed for a while, still not sure if that was a good idea! I realised this afternoon that I didn't have another box of cat food so went out to stock up and used a couple of vouchers at the pet shop saving £4.50, that's him sorted for a couple of months.  I picked up some milk on the way back I was down to the last inch and it was dated the 19th 🙄

HM salmon pate and toast for lunch.  LO soup for dinner
