Horrid here too most of the day

Tomato soup from the freezer for lunch with a slice of cheese on toast. A nice easy dinner of egg and chips

    Good morning everyone,
I've picked up a cold, started feeling grotty last night and it's in full flow this morning. Frank has gone home though Ari arrives this afternoon for an overnight but Hector is shattered after two days with a manic Cocker so I think I'm manage a peaceful day.
    Decidedly chilly here today.
Fridge bits for lunch. Tonight it's pork steaks in HM bbq sauce with Nando's style spicy rice and green veg.

Damp morning with worse on the way, sky is darkening & wind is supposed to whip up as well.

Found OOD small tin of peach slices during a search, which gave me the excuse to make a kind of trifle with stale banana bread & custard, just Bird's powder custard, not the DIY eggs & milk stuff

Lunch, cold sliced roast pork + salad bits sarnie
Dinner, more cold roast pork, maybe with a cheese jacket potato

  • It’s another sunny but chilli day here, quite a change again from the warmer weekend we had.

I’m having a scotch egg salad with pickled beetroot and coleslaw for lunch and tonight I’ll do a nice piece of smoked haddock with asparagus and new potatoes.

  • I have had another flare-up of costochondritis and realised it must be from holding my umbrella out in the rain as that was all I did yesterday apart from sit on the sofa. I am going to wear waterproof hooded jackets instead!

I have laid in bed taking ibuprofen, but it didn't make it feel any better so I had a bath and feel better just sitting upright.

All I have had is some grapes in bed so I might see what to have that is more substantial.

Yes, that sounds nice. I will copy you.

I'm going to freeze that soup I made yesterday.

  • Very heavy rain here for a lot of the day, roads were very wet driving home even though the rain had actually stopped.

More nana’s magic soup for lunch, with a chunk of sourdough. Just had shakshouka with the end of the broccoli and some garlic bread 😋

Heavy rain until nearly 7pm which meant as I was playing taxi for a elderly friend I got wet twice, getting a 86 year old on a Walker in and out of my car in the pouring rain was no fun!  luckily her appointment was lunch time so I only missed a little work on the return journey (payback for late finishes). I'm on my third pair of socks today 🧦

I met friends at the local cinema to watch the National Theatre showing of Vanya just Andrew Scott playing multiple characters ( not as weird as it sounds) but he was one the stage for nearly two hours no interval.

Quick egg salad lunch time using the last of my watercress.  Pasta with salmon, asparagus and tenderstem broccoli in a creamy sauce for dinner

  • It is so nice to wake up and see the sun! I have opened all the windows to let in some fresh air.

I need to have a shower and then go for a walk before the rain starts again. I have quite a long time as the BBC weather now says rain at 3 and it was 1 when I checked yesterday.

I am having some sparkling water with grapefruit juice at the moment. I need to see what needs using up in the fridge.

Another one here with sun and some blue sky, windows still shut though, too cold for me to do that

I took the opportunity though to do a spot of gardening, I'm collecting an apple & cherry tree tomorrow, part of council's Eco green thing, subsided. Planting thousands of fruit trees by aiming for one in every garden, so I'll have more than enough.
The cherry is destined for the Volunteer place.

Lunch, tinned spaghetti on toast, it's use up for the spag
Dinner, more cold roast pork, HM AF chips & ???
