  • I was just saying that I should make bread Brambling. We just walked down to the local bakery and bought a loaf of "artisan" bread. I thought I should support a local business. My grandmother taught me how to make normal bread and soda bread and I'm sure soda bread wasn't difficult at all.

I just had a couple of slices with Flora. It wasn't anything special at all! I took my dog wearing her little coat and everyone was smiling at her. It is lovely and sunny for February.

I'm assuming vegan soda bread would require plant milk and maybe vinegar or lemon juice for the acid?  it is a very quick bread to make

Nice quiet day for a Friday just busy enough to make the day go quickly

last of the soda bread toasted with eggs for lunch.  I popped a piece of salmon in the ninja and had salmon, salad and new potatoes for dinner

Dull & misty start, just a grey February day really.

Made a quick “rapid” loaf in the bread maker first thing, in time for lunch, no idea yet what to fill the sandwich with, maybe fish fingers for something warm on this grey day?
Dinner, due to visit to DD tomorrow & re jig of meal plans, it's RM Mince & veg pasty, with frozen chips and the final gourmet touch of baked beans

  • Forgot to post yesterday, I went out early to go get myself a new TV and spent some time on my return dismantling the old one from its stand and setting up the new one - smart tv very easy to set up but I often think smart tech is way smarter than me

Yesterday’s cfo was feta salad for lunch and scampi & chips for tea.

Today its back to using up freezer stock so I’m having spicy meatballs and salad in a pitta for lunch and tonight its chicken curry, brown rice and poppadums.

    Good morning everyone,
AWOL yesterday as my internet was playing up AM and then I was out. I was very pleased that I was steady enough to see my friends and very good catch up and a lovely Indian takeaway was enjoyed.
Dreich but mild today. I want to try and begin to catch up on various chores that have build up over the past week or so. DS2 is stacking logs after a delivery yesterday and will then tackle the heavier jobs I struggle with.
Lunch is tbc, the fridge is rather bare as Tesco aren't delivering until later so probably cheese or eggs or HM soup from the freezer. HM burgers and salad tonight.
  • I had forgotten that soda bread had milk in it!

I just had some more of the bread I bought with Flora and Marmite and then a banana. I am feeling chilly today so I put the heating on.

  • I made a delicious salad and had a sliced up vegan chicken burger on top. I made the salad while it cooked in the AF.  Mixed leaves, cucumber, tomatoes, green olives, fresh parsley and a dressing with balsamic glaze and extra virgin olive oil. It wasn't even much effort. I'm definitely making that again. :)

    Good morning everyone,
Dull but dry (so far) and mild.
I plan to spend a good chunk of the day cooking - Dutch-style pea soup for tomorrow and roast lamb dinner tonight. A ham hock has chuntered away in the slow cooker overnight and the peas soaked. Bacon butty planned for lunch.
  • I have had a pink grapefruit and two toasted crumpets with Flora.

I am going to make that salad again today and I have to use up some soya mince so I will probably do it with baked potatoes.

Lovely sunny morning, the crocus' are out and the daffs are putting a bit of a growth spurt on.

I'm having a very lazy day, defrosted some of the turkey broth for lunch and later think I might just do another throw together pasta dish with some pesto and veggies.
