    Good afternoon everyone,
Goodness N2BT that sounds scary, I hope you don't get flooded out when high tide hits.
Frustratingly I'm still wonky, on my feet and functioning though which is always a plus though DS2 thinks I'm trying to do to much and he may have a point so I'll rest more today and see if that helps it settle. He's cooking tonight, chicken rezala with rice and naan. The salmon fish fingers were lovely, a nice change from white fish and there's LOs for lunch.

  • Gosh, frightening N2BT! Hope you’re ok today.

Bit of a pottering day today - did some ironing, changed the bed and did a few other domestics. I’ve also been for a swim and prepped a couple of days of office lunches.

Jacket spud with cheese and coleslaw for lunch (roasted carrots for packed lunches whilst the oven was on 😉). Made shakshouka tonight, served with garlic baguette 😋

I hope you're not on the ground floor N2BT and all is ok.

Listened to your DS Caronc and take it easy, you need to get the wonky donkey back in its stable

A catch up day of domestic chores having worked yesterday plus some personal admin.  I cooked a large pan of Italian wedding soup with pork meatballs for lunches next week then finished my book this afternoon and caught up on Silent Witness

Lunch used the last of my bread toasted with scrambled egg.  Chicken, chorizo and orzo traybake for dinner with some added veg, served with beans and tenderstem broccoli, more  LOs than expected 🤔 one portion in the freezer but I may freeze another tomorrow, will wait and see when I portion up dinner tomorrow

  • All good here thanks.

The wind had dropped so yesterday afternoon and last night’s high tides were not so bad only the odd wave made it into our garden - yes I was up at 3.00am watching :D

Not only am I checking SEPA, Tide Times & wind direction, I looked up the moon phases and yes Farway very late on Friday it was a New Moon (Supermoon) so it was a spring tide, next one will be at the Snow Moon on 24 Feb, fingers crossed we don’t have a brisk Easterly or SEasterly.

    Eek! Whereabouts do you live?
About 30yds from the beach and 95% of the time its absolutely a wonderful small town (royal burgh) to live in. The “Auld Toon”, harbour area and southside of the town used to flood on a regular basis but millions have been spent on flood defences which worked well in that area this time. Attention now needs to move to the central beach area and us on the north side.

Yes Brambling I purposely bought an upper flat, I have a great view and although it is frightening watching a wave as high as your window heading towards you - I have a tremendous respect for the sea, but do love watching extremes of weather.

Caronc - you have been doing quite a bit lately, especially for others. Time to ease off and give yourself a breather, hopefully the atmospheric pressure will start to settle a bit too.

Apologies for the long post, I will get on to CFO, but need to go shopping first :o

Blue sky & sunshine, I may even get a bit of garden pottering in later.

Lunch cheese & sliced fresh onion sandwich, I baked a fresh loaf earlier in anticipation
Dinner, nuke a MFO RM, Asda sweet & sour chicken with rice

    Good morning everyone,
Glad you are unscathed NTB2, you sound in similar proximity to the sea as my sis. Like you she has an upper flat but thankfully there is a bank between her and the sea so her street is spared flooding, it can get quite bad near by though.
Had a quiet day yesterday and have another planned for today. I'm due to see friends on Friday so hoping if I'm "good" the wonky donkey will have retreated enough by then.
LO curry and tonight it's green minestrone made with stuffed pasta and garlic bread. The soup was inspired by a Guardian article I read last week though I wasn't hugely impressed by the published recipe but fancied the idea so fingers crossed.
  • That sounds quite scary about seeing waves that high! I live near the sea, well estuary, but I've never seen it get like that.

I had some crumpets and a smoothie. It is lovely weather here at the moment. It feels quite warm and it is sunny with a blue sky. It doesn't feel like early February! I have an appointment so I am going to take the long way through the park.

  • Finally some cfo = freezer dip and found some lentil soup for lunch. I picked up some ox liver from the butcher with the idea that I would have it fried with onions but when I unpacked it thought there would be too much for one sitting so stewed it instead with onions, carrots & swede. I will have a portion tonight with some asparagus on the side and freeze the other.

Yes Wednesday this was unusual, I also live beside a river which flows from the mountains to sea and speaking to locals today they have never seen such tidal surges going back up the river as far as it did on Saturday.

The real sadness is the effect it has on the wildlife, there has been a report of a dead dolphin on the beach as well as the sea birds and other species struggling to feed.

  • Ooft, another long day in the office. I think it was bright but cold most of the day, it was certainly much lighter driving in this morning.

This extreme weather is a bit worrying, glad you’re ok, N2BT.

I had a salad made of pouch grains, dried cranberries, cumin roasted carrots, feta and lemon vinaigrette for lunch. Broccoli and blue cheese pasta tonight with crispy sage leaves and toasted walnuts 😋

Short week for me so I’m already a third of the way through!

I envy those of you living by the sea i grew up close to it in Dorset and then I lived In Portsmouth as a student and loved walking along the beach in winter the nearest coast to us is about 40 mins away.  I like the small market town I live in so it's probably not going to happen although you never know 🤷‍♀️

I told my manager I'm going to retire in May no later than the 23rd and turned down the offer of part time on a sloping scale for another year or so instead. He seemed surprised but I've talked about it previously I think he thought the PT would sway me but I've see the extra hours PT colleagues work for no OT and TBH the numbers add up not to have to

lovely blue skies today if a little colder but it meant I managed to prune my hydrangea lunch time and enjoy it 🙂 and it was still like at 5pm

A portion of soup i made yesterday for lunch, I was over generous with the salt but a squeeze if lime helped with that at least with the taste if not the amount of salt I will be eating 🫣 LO chicken, chorizo and orzo traybake with vegetables for dinner so a easy cooking day
