Blue sky, sunshine, and rain has stopped, which is good because DS & family are on half-term holiday near Newquay. They treated themselves to a return visit because when they went last year, DIL finished up in A & E with a leg problem caused while surfing & then spent months hobbling around, physio etc.
And once that had cleared up they slowly went down with Covid, one following the other as it spread among them.

Lunch, egg & bacon brunch for a change
Dinner, use up the only a year OOD ex lockdown, chunky veg pasta sauce in a pan of whatever shape pasta I have

  • Newquay is meant to be nice.

It is quite lovely and mild here today. I had curry for lunch yesterday instead of soup as I remembered I had some leftover fried peppers and onions in a bowl in the fridge and I sorted out my food tin cupboard yesterday and fancied using up a jar of curry sauce. I am going to make roasted cauliflower and have it with some more of the sauce and cook some rice today, probably for dinner.

I haven't had breakfast yet. That will be cereal or a smoothie.

    Good morning
Dreich here and I'm still wonky, I'll see how I am on Monday and may postpone Tuesday's physio session. I'm not sure if it's a flare up or the constantly changing weather (or a bit of both). I'm trying very hard to keep moving, tempting though lying down is, as I know it does help. There's nothing major needing done so another quiet day sounds very appealing. Cheese toastie planned for lunch and HM salmon fish fingers for dinner using up some tail bits from the salmon sides I bought at Christmas.
  • Good morning, it was another wild night here and we also have a flood warning in place. It didn’t quite reach the properties at high tide last night but the lunchtime tide is predicated to a bit higher. Our factor normally arranges flood defence precautions but the warning wasn't announced until after 9.00pm last night.

I had some bacon and asparagus leftover from last night so just in case the area is flooded and we lose power I’m making a quiche which I can have hot for lunch, the rest of the day will depend on fate :#

I forgot to post last night until I was in bed and wasn't getting back out 🙂

I had to work today and I've just finished as we had technical difficulties so a long day as I started at 11am. My colleague who was meant to be working with me was a bit hit and miss by her availability 🙄 and is now moaning about how long she has worked 😡

late lunch between tasks at 3pm of sardines on toast.  I grabbed a BLT at 8pm the chicken will have to wait until tomorrow

  • Much excitement yesterday when for a few hours our apartment complex became an island. We were declared a no-go zone and had several fire and rescue crews as well as coastguard in attendance with dinghies to evacuate those who wished to go, the police were also there to stop the "rubber-neckers" and photo takers. Never a dull moment here ;)

The tide over-topping the sea wall is nothing new but yesterday was something else, it breached the wall crossed a 2mtr wide walkway and smashed our boundary wall as if it were made of plastic bricks. The concern now is we have no defence and today's high tide warning is 4.8mtr which is slightly higher the yesterday  :#

I defrosted a portion of curry sauce and will pop out to the sm to pick up some chicken to throw in with some veg, got plenty soup and snacking things in the cupboard and the freezer just not sure what order I may be eating things.

Sounds worrying, and not yet due Spring tides, so hopefully something will be in place by then. Mind you it's taken years to repair & replace the sea defences here, since the big storm over five years back when a lot were broken or found to be inadequate.

Sun's out & mild but very changeable
    Lunch, salady sarnie
Dinner, defrosting a pork chop, which I'll have with roast veggies, spuds, parsnips etc
