I hope your sisters back is better Caronc
Wednesday do you add fresh or frozen spinach to your smoothies?
Worked today with a 3 hour break between 3.30 and 6.30, we finished at 8pm and I entertained the 8 international colleagues on a Teams call when I realised the cat eating was not my cat and swore before chasing it around the room, I must remember to put on mutejust as well we don't turn the cameras on! It seems he's found my cat-flap which is in the back door 🙄 tonight after I shut his lordship him I heard him banging on the locked catflap and I could hear him crying, I feel guilty but he's not coming in his lordship did get up and guarded it
I went into town quickly to pick up a order parking in town as I had no time to walk from my sister's, I did come back via the charity shop and for £1 picked up a John Torode 'as new' cookery book (not that I needed it🙄) looked untouched other than some post it notes put in a half dozen pages. I was lucky on the way back as I went into the pet place and came out to find their delivery lorry had hit the car next to mine 🫣 not much damage but the guy was saying it would be a mess as it was a hire car. It is a small car park for a large lorry to manoeuvre around
late lunch of minestrone soup, I had cooked some venison meatballs YS from the freezer when the oven was on yesterday and popped some in the soup 😋 LO chicken and chips for dinner
New toy was ordered this evening and new ninja will be picked up on Monday 🙂 just need to see if anyone wants my old gadgets as there is some life left in them, my sister will have my slow cooker as she dropped hers, it was her FILs and I've had it 11 years but should do her for a bit longerLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Bright but cold this morning with Venus shining when I got upMy Flu jab am is a bit tender this morning, and I have shivers and a bit of a sore throat, checking the leaflet it seems it's "new" type of flu jab, says it doesn't give you flu, but you may get flu like symptoms
, so if I understand it right, I've not got flu, it just may feel like it!. Honestly, what is the point of that?
To console myself, I have made another medicinal banana loaf which I will take with some tea later onLunch, probably grilled cheese on toastDinner, frozen pizza for convenienceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Brambling - I buy fresh spinach, but I freeze it and put it in smoothies.
Farway - I didn't realise it was a new flu jab. I felt fine after this flu jab, but I normally feel ill or very tired for quite a few days after. I wonder if it means it worked on me this time or not?
It felt chilly last night, I had to put on my dressing gown and get a blanket.
I am having fresh fruit and tea this morning as I am going to make a big breakfast later. I went to a local greengrocer yesterday for the first time and got two big pineapples for 75p each so I am having banana and pineapple with ginger and lemon tea.
I'm going to have hash browns, baked beans, grilled tomatoes and toast later. I forgot to take out the second packet of OMV sausages to defrost last night so I'm not sure if they will be ready in time as I only out them in the frideg now, Unless you can cook them from frozen, I will check.

Good morning everyone,
I felt like that for a couple of days after my flu jab this year Farway too.
I gave in and set the heating to come on for an hour in the morning and one late evening. With the stove that should be enough for a bit. I must order more logs though.
It was supposed to be dry and we were planning to give the front garden a much needed tidy but it's pouring. Hopefully it will dry up this afternoon.
Roast pork shoulder for us tonight. Last night I brushed a couple of skinned and boned chicken thighs with bbq sauce and wrapped them in bacon. Baked those along with a spud, a foil wrapped onion and a corn cobette. A few nuke-steamed green beans finished it off nicely. LOs for lunch.

Gosh, a chilly autumn has arrived here, brrr! I did get a load mostly dry on the line but glad I did the towels yesterday when it was definitely a few degrees warmer. Even the pool was cold today…
Not a fat lot done today other than the washing and swimming, bit of voluntary admin, bit of work (as it’s been and is going to continue to be a bit crazy) 😬
Smashed avocado and scrambled eggs on toast for lunch. George Foreman’d salmon with new potatoes and tenderstem broccoli tonight - simple but really enjoyed it (salmon is a bit of a treat at the moment). Also had a scoop of mint choc chip ice cream in the name of using up 😉

I think most years it's a new flu jab depending on what they think the variants will be. The last few years I have gotten away with just a slightly sore arm around the site of the injection
this year they didn't ask if I was allergic to egg so I'm assuming they didn't use albumin
I put my duvet back on the bed last night, I've been just using the cover and a throw, a winter shirt and hoodie went on today. It felt cold enough to think about the heating but I haven't put it on yet
Slow morning for me and then I was summoned by my sister, the little one was asking for me 😁 I think I was second choice after being told her uncle was out. So I had a afternoon helping entertain a 18 month old then grandma and I were glad when youngest nephew got home and took her for a walk so she would nap. She saw her consultant last week and her parents were told that it wasn't a case of if she ended up in hospital this winter but when especially now it is getting colder, they won't call it asthma yet until she is two but he has told them she is showing all the signs of a asthmatic child, today she just kept us on her toesLunch was a portion of minestrone soup. Dinner I used LO chicken to make sweet and sour chicken and vegetables with riceLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Sunny but much colder, my heating came on automatically this morning, first time since Spring, and I was glad of itMy flu like symptoms beat me yesterday, spent the day under a blanket watching tele and eating medical banana loafa drink of fake Lemsip before bed, very long kip and feeling much chirpier this morningBrambling said:I think most years it's a new flu jab depending on what they think the variants will be. I need to add to my Asda list now, my Lemsip look alike is nearly out, and I think it will be prudent to top up before winter arrives, plus I'll add some fresh parsnips as well, to give them a go in the AF
Lunch, try grilled cheese on toastDinner, sort of mixed grill, hoping my cheapo bacon mis shapes have some gammon like bits in there, plus defrosting YS pork sausages. I suppose if no gammon like bits, I could call them deconstructed pigs in blankets? With HM AF chips & fried eggs

Good morning everyone,
Cold and drizzling here today, not the best start to the half term holiday.
Voluntary admin for me today and pretty much the rest of the month before the club accounts get there annual audit. I also need to make meatballs as didn't get that far yesterday as needed to defrost more pork mince as DS1 and DIL-to-be have invited themselves for dinner tomorrow and there wouldn't be enough to feed six even with a bit of padding out!
LOs for lunch and refried bean, avocado and salad wraps for dinner.0 -
Glad you feel better Farway.
I tested my heating last night with all the windows closed and it knocked me out as I overslept this morning. I was meeting a lady from this forum for a walk so I had to get a taxi to her house first. She said it wasn't very MSE of me. Lol.
I had a vegan cheese and ham toastie and an orange juice in a cafe mid way through our walk in the woods. I have done nearly 17,000 steps so far today.
I'm not sure what to have for dinner as I'm tired. I might be lazy and have a ready made lasagne in the air fryer with some salad.2025 GOALS

First scraping of the car windscreen this winter this morning 😬
Turned into a bright, sunny day and did warm up a bit this afternoon. Heating had kicked in when I got home and house felt pleasant.
Harissa roasted carrot and mixed grains with sour cream and chive dressing for lunch. Just had tuna pesto pasta with tenderstem broccoli and sugar snap peas. LOs in a lunchbox for tomorrow 🙃0
