Good morning everyone,
Happy big birthday Farway, hope you have a lovely day with your family.
Hope you are feeling better today Brambling.
The weather was gorgeous yesterday though chilly in the shade. Not quite so sunny today but dry. DS2 is skip filling again so I'm Hector sitting. Family gathering tomorrow so I'll prep for that today, everyone one is bringing something so not too much for me to do. I've a huge leg of lamb defrosting which I'll part bone later and some veg and sauces to sort out but nothing too onerous. DS2 will make focaccia tomorrow and I've some nice olives for nibbles.
Lunch today is tbc, tonight we're having posh fish finger sandwiches with mushy peas and oven chips.

Your birthday? Happy Birthday if it is.
I had a cup of hot chocolate and a slice of sourdough toast this morning and went back to bed! Over 9 hours according to my Fitbit.
I am making a stir fry for lunch as I bought a new wok the other day. My husband is out at the cinema, but will be back this evening. I'm probably going to watch even more Netflix today!0 -
Happy birthday Farway, I hope you had a good family meal
I was awake on and off all night, drank too much water due to dry mouth and needed the bathroom multiple timesI got up at 6am and fed his lordship and opened the catflap before going back to bed, he woke me at 9am wanting a snack 🙄 if it is a lurgy it's not too serious, I double dosed my antihistamines this morning and the sniffles is just coming back now ready for bed🤧 I well see how I feel in the morning before deciding if I should go to the baby's 1st birthday party in the afternoon. I've been instructed to make my cheese straws (from nephew not baby 😁) so they may have to be collected unless I plead too ill to make
I popped to Sainsbury with small shopping list early evening, they didn't have bananas or blueberries so I came home via Waitrose where I also dropped a couple of small electric items in their recycling bin which have been in the boot of the car for ages, a 30p mackerel and 7p ox kidneys are now in my freezerI'll have to get some stewing steak
Not very hungry again today and really haven't fancied LO fish pie 🤢 lunch was a cream cheese and salad sandwich. A couple of hot cross buns for dinnerwith a banana to make it healthier!

Back to normal today, very nice & easy birthday yesterday without any cooking involved, and this morning is sunshine with forecast of a warm day ahead, hope so for everyone who needs sunshine for the day, including the baby first birthday party, hope you make it Brambling and able to attendJust a pottering day for me, with sun I may get into the garden for a very minor bit of mooching, the pear blossom is looking nice in the sunshine, just need those pollinators to get crackingFor lunch, I'm going to have ploughmans' with some of the posh cheese I was given yesterdayDinner, is the very posh 28 days salt dry-aged Marks sirloin steak that I bought as a birthday treat for myself, with easy salad and either nuked baked spud or HM AF chips if I fail to find suitable sized baking spudEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Happy Easter, hope everyone enjoys their day. Hope your well enough to go to the party Brambling.
Enjoying a quiet cuppa before the mayhem begins. Food prep is in hand and I'm tantalised by the smell of focaccia baking.
Roast lamb with lots of sides followed by HM tiramisu for dinner.0 -
Third gorgeous day in a row, such a treat for a bank holiday weekend. Out for the day with family yesterday which was lovely and, other than porridge, no CFO 🙃
Have been in the garden today, load of washing on the line, some sweeping and tidying, and two coats of danish oil on the shed. Weather due to change tomorrow so all the indoors stuff saved for then.
Had houmous, crudités and toasted pitta for lunch. Chargrilled tuna steak with warm new potato, green bean and olive salad tonight. Oh, and there was 🍷
Hope everyone has enjoyed Easter 🐣0 -
Lovely sunny here as well, sat out inthe garden for awhile this afternoon 🙂
I spoke to my sister this morning and her words were as the baby is 'snotty' to go to the party 🎉 hopefully as she is that way it's not settling on her chest so we will avoid a hospital visit this month 🤞 my double batch of cheese straws disappeared very quickly and a family friend brought her Ham and cheese croquetas 😋 a recipe from her Spanish mum and a favourite of mine. I did realise where my nephew's OH got her bad time keeping from 🙄😁
food today has been buffet and birthday cake and a yoghurt about 9pm I've a piece of my youngest nephews lemon drizzle cake snuck out but that will be tomorrows treat 😋.I've just been slightly snuffy today so I'm not unconvinced it's not just bad hayfever, my sister was complaining too, in which case I hope baby cuddles doesn't man she's over shared 🤧😷Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Back to wet this morning, and supposedly all week now, but at least the Easter Sunshine lasted a few daysNever had my steak yesterday because I came over very shivery in the afternoon, thankfully by then I'd done all my "bits" so could slump in front of TV and do nothing except feel sorry for myself, however a good night's sleep seems to have fixed whatever it wasOnly work for today is change bedding, too wet to do much else anywayFood today, lunch will be "picking" at things, maybe nibble a posh Birthday biscuit or twoDinner, try again for my posh steak, plenty of date on it so no rushEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Glad it just seems to have been a passing lurgy Farway and you got to the party Brambling.
With 3 pooches and 5 adults (my nephew was working) yesterday was pretty full on! It was a great day though I'll be glad of a quiet one today! Hector and Frank just played and played, mainly amicably with only a couple of interventions needed when Frank got over tired. He really loved his first trip to the woods.Hector is one today, not that he knows or we will be doing anything!
My we ate well. Everyone made dishes and although it sounds like a random mix it all worked well.
DS2 made focaccia which we had with olives and artichoke hearts (very good - a jar from Lidl's Italian week) as pre-dinner nibbles.
For mains I made roasted leg of lamb, "punched" baby roast potatoes, red chimichurri sauce and roasted carrot salad. My sister made two Ottolenghi salads - a tomato one and spring greens one. DS1 & DIL-to-be made a leek gratin and tiramisu. Lots of different dishes but not massive quantities of each so there's really not much leftover.
The roasted carrot salad was a recipe I hadn't tried before but would definitely recommend. https://www.thepioneerwoman.com/food-co ... naigrette/ I used 1kg of carrots which once roasted really didn't make that much so if catering for a crowd the 5lbs used in the recipe doesn't seem that excessive. I'll definitely be making it again.
A handy one if you need a dish to take to bbq or buffet or just for lunches for a few days.

Aw, what cuties!
It is pouring with rain here. I had some orange juice and I am about to have a toasted pitta with something in it.2025 GOALS
