  • My brother stayed over a couple of days and I had a scratchy throat but it can't be from him as he was ill from 28th Dec so he wouldn't have been contagious and had tested okay from Covid. My voice does sound a bit hoarse but I feel fine.

I had leftovers for dinner tonight. I need to totally clean and declutter the fridge tomorrow and work out a basic meal plan for the week.

'Morning folks, stopped raining now with sun creeping out, it hammered down yesterday afternoon, not that I was out in it

Just been trying to update my Asda list, but I think bog-standard cheapo Corn Flakes are now on the "endangered" list, just as I decided to add some they've vanished :'( . Not a big problem, just another slight annoyance

My mini lurgy is hanging about, coughing, drippy nose now & then but nothing very bad or painful enough to prevent me soldiering bravely on

The chicken roasted well, just right CFO size for a couple of days meals. While rummaging in the freezer I found a bag of ready baked spuds, so I used one of them instead of nuking a fresh one, which made my meal even lazier, I didn't even have to wash or stab a spud :)

Lunch, cheese & maybe sliced fresh onion?
Dinner, repeat of yesterday, roast chicken, frozen baked spud + salad bits

    Good morning everyone,
Tipping it down here this morning and decidedly chilly.
I had a fab afternoon yesterday, chatted with a good few people I hadn't seen from my teens.  :)
Off to see the physio today, I'm hoping it helps as a couple of hours on a hard pew yesterday has done nothing for my aches and pains.
LOs for lunch and DS2 is cooking tonight - dal, rice and naan. I might make a pot of soup, will see how I feel after being prodded.

I had toast and marg and Marmite for breakfast with two cups of tea. I spring cleaned the fridge and tidied and deep cleaned the kitchen.

I had Tideford creamy mushroom soup with a buttered roll for lunch. Yum. I hadn't tried it before, but it was lovely.

  • Not a bad day here but struggled to get warm in the office until early afternoon when it was suddenly horrible and stuffy. House feels cold this evening too.

Easy food day - spicy butternut soup and toasted pitta for lunch, reheated pork in cider, potato and parsnip mash, and freshly cooked green beans.
  • Sunshine! Lovely to get out for my lunchtime walk in the sun.

work is picking up lace with the new year so I’m glad of my weekend batch cook.

Breakfast - Greek toughest, summer fruits from the freezer and walnuts
Lunch was HM soup, a different tomato one this week with a scrap of cheese and some seeds
Dinner was veg stir fry with some rice and seeds, and three tiny apples. Think I misjudged the amount of seeds as I am still hungry - lots of veg but not enough protein. I’m trying the old style weight loss challenge but might need to revisit how I do that as 830pm hunger does not bode well…

  • Well, heating the flask beforehand makes a lot of sense now it's pointed out :) It did not come with any helpful instructions! I guess it loses a fair amount to heat to bring the flask to the same temperature. I have half a parsnip left, carrots and potatoes, and I think I will set the slow cooker to make soup in the morning and then either keep the leftovers stewing until tea or try out my flask again. I've had the parsnip for a few days now, because my mum and dad very kindly brought me emergency supplies to carry me through my illness - I finally caught Covid, as it turns out - so it's been cheese and crackers and premade sandwiches since I last posted. (I splurge and eat bread and cheese at my parents' house, so they didn't really think of that, and it hasn't been a problem at all compared to what I was already feeling) Except for one batch of soup my mum also delivered, which was absolutely amazing! Courgette and watercress in chicken stock, apparently. Gorgeous. And finished too soon. I will attempt to recreate it when I am more the thing.

I hope you're now feeling better Charley  :) I remember as a child my dad preheating his tea flask before work so I've always done it that way

Typical Monday at work and annoyingly dry after a wet weekend, it definitely felt colder this afternoon as well. Disadvantage of WFH was spending far too long trying to explain on line to a colleague how to compare two large spreadsheets to find discrepancies 🙄 it would have been easier and quicker to have asked her to send to me to do, after the call the boss told me it was because it was too simple and she was expecting a  complicated method 🤔 I did stop myself from saying left a bit, right a bit, fire (for those old enough to remember the Goldenshot  ;) )  Some days it's good to remember that if all goes to plan early retirement could be next year 😁

I needed to use up some eggs as one failed the float test so boil a half dozen, they will be appearing for lunches this week  🙂 lunch was watercress salad (Hampshire from the farm shop) with eggs, beetroot etc.  Dinner LO chicken, New potatoes, coleslaw and sweetcorn.

tomorrow will have both eggs and chicken as well, the joys of CFO

EWW looks like you need more protein, are you vegan or vegetarian?

Dreary wet morning again, it was chilly yesterday, and I was shivering, but that may have been due to my mini lurgy not actual ambient temperature. Having a salad with cold meat didn't help either

Usual "we are running out of stuff you ordered" mail from Asda, may make an interesting delivery as I opted for subs on those items

Just jam on toast for breakfast because I wanted something warm, Full English would've suited me fine, but it's the servants' day off :(

Lunch, warming grilled cheese on toast
Dinner, pick over the chicken carcass and serve whatever meat there is with lots of mash, nuked LO cauliflower cheese, fresh carrots, Christmas boiled LO fresh sprouts, maybe frozen green beans & instant gravy. If I think of it in time, maybe try a frozen Yorkie as well

That made me laugh, it looks like you are saying "Eww" as in gross! Lol.

That would be good if you can retire next year Brambling. What age will you be if you don't mind me asking?
