Reading through, what a sickly lot we are lately, hope everyone improves, I think once the weather turns brighter things feel better even if they are much the same, funny you mention light head Brambling, I had that last week, but I put mine down to blood pressure 'cos there was nothing else I could think ofMade an overnight loaf in the Panny, so back to fresh bread today, not sure why or how but my HM bread seems to working out just fine lately after a few dense but tasty bricksMaking out my next online Asda order, my regular fortnightly slot is held for next week but not sure if I'll need it then, I'm having trouble getting to minium order level with all my LO Christmas food & freezer stuff. Normally I'd bulk out with loo rolls, detergent etc, but I've plenty of that already so will probably skip a week and just get milk etc from rip off Co-op when I get my tootsies done end of next weekLunch today, sarnie with the fresh HM loaf, probably open one of the stashed tuna tins for tuna / Mayo + salad bits fillingDinner, another use up ready meal from the freezer, no idea what right now, depends on what is top of the pileEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Wet and dreary again today.
Have managed to get a physio appointment on Monday with the chap who sorted me out before.
Tesco order to finalise and some domestic bits to do. I really should mop through but given the weather and the muck magnet aka Hector it hardly seems worth the pain and effort. It may get postponed... (or delegated to DS2)
If anyone is watching new Hairy Bikers series episode 2 visits my home area. The fishing boat featured is the one we often buy from at the quayside and the salt place is in what was a semi derelict area near where I grew up. There's a very old tradition of salt production in the area going back many hundreds of years so good to see it revived though gathered very differently.
BTW if anyone thinks the restaurant owner featured looks familiar she was an amateur cook on Masterchef a few years ago.

Evening all. Good to hear you’re feeling better @Brambling asthma is not a pleasant thing to deal with - I’ve just replaced my blue inhaler after realising my old one was… old. Expired 2020!Got out for a walk at lunch which I always enjoy and feel better for in the round.Breakfast - Greek yogurt, frozen summer fruits and almonds
Lunch - the last portion of HM soup with sunflower seeds and the last scrap of cheddar followed by a hobnob and I’m not sure if I imagined it but I feel I had a huge sugar crash after that. I could have easily slept.
Dinner will be spicy mushroom ramen with a hard boiled egg, spring onions and sesame seeds made with gochujang chili paste, tahini and noodles from the international shop, I’m trying to perfect a broth so, oh dear, I’m having to make this once a week! I think I’ll treat myself to some Xmas gift chocs for pud.Grocery Challenge

Caronc I have food envy and it reminded me I haven't brought venison from the farmers market for a while and that's always so good 😋 it's culled from a local estate
a lack of bananas and a refusal to pay 27p a banana at T express drove me to Sainsbury tonight for a few fresh bits, there was no cauliflower and the bananas were very green so I came home via Waitrose which is opposite, no cauliflower there either although the bananas were better 🙂 Whilst in Waitrose I also picked up a half price (on offer) chicken and YS pears and nectarines, the pears in Sainsbury were awful 😞
lunch was a portion of soup and dinner a small YS lemon tart from Waitrose bakery 🤫Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Thanks for the recommendation, caronc, I’ve started on the new Hairy Bikers series tonight (only 1 episode in but enjoyed).
Office day today with various mini crises to deal with 🙄
Spicy butternut squash soup with toasted pitta for lunch. Prawn and broccoli Thai curry with noodles tonight.0 -
Sunny morning, so nice, I hope to get into the garden later and do some winter pruning / tidying upMy mild lurgy has me sniffling with a catchy throat and a few aches, but nowhere near as bad as some reports on here, fit enough to attempt the garden later anywayLunch, I opened a tin of pork luncheon meat yesterday, so I'll continue with that in a sarnie, maybe with pickle or salad bitsDinner, I have your cauliflower Brambling, it's a whopper from Mark's
. Tonight is cauli cheese & maybe poached / baked haddock once I defrost it, assuming I can first find it in the freezer

Good morning everyone,
Cold and windy here but dry!
After a bit of batting back and forward yesterday, the council have agreed to empty my green bin which was missed (these things happen) on Wednesday but no I wasn't prepared to pay £25 for the privilege as the bin was put out the day before and wasn't overfull or heavy. Damn sure I'm paying extra for something that wasn't my fault.... Goodness knows when it will be done though, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Tesco due soon and then the usual Friday tidy/clean the bathroom.
Salady bits for lunch and breaded haddock from the freezer for dinner.0 -
Thanks to everyone who has said hello! I pop in on the MSE forums fairly infrequently, so I will probably not be a regular, but I do like to post when I can. The last time I posted here was a year ago, when I was panicking about not having a fridge! I have turned it off again for the winter and I am a lot less worried this year after my previous experience
Caronc, thanks for the recipe. I tried it last night and had to fudge around with it a lot but it still turned out quite nice. I just threw out my lemon juice because it looked gross, so I used apple cider vinegar instead. I also can't eat paprika, garlic, or chilli, and didn't have spinach, so it was potato, cauliflower, and Italian herbs instead. A very different sort of pasta! I wasn't 100% sold on the taste and will try again with different flavours another time, but pasta and peanut butter is not a combination I would otherwise have made, so thank you.
Wednesday2000, I actually haven't tried any gluten free products yet, I will definitely have to! I cut out white bread first, realised that wasn't having enough of an effect and decided I was done with all flour and then never thought to try any alternatives! I only had the almond flour because my brother in law had some he wasn't going to use.
I am sick now as of this morning - a sore throat that feels like it's one strong throat clearing away from tearing open and becoming unbearable, but so far it isn't too bad - and went out after work to stock up for a weekend of very basic cooking and feeling sorry for myself. Mainly chocolateBecause I don't have a fridge and it's expensive I only buy meat if it's in small quantities and reduced to clear, and I managed to get a pack of thick sliced ham, half of which became a bit of a disappointing carbonara. I am about to go and put the rest into my stock pot as part of some sort of casserole for tomorrow's lunch...

It's unusually mild here (and wet) the phone says it's still 11 degrees and it's 10pm, not complaining as the heating hasn't been on in the evenings just in the morning to take the overnight chill off
A busy Friday so I only had a quick lunch but we did finish at 5pm. I'm working next Saturday so will make the most of tomorrow, I may go on a cauliflower hunt 😁
lunch was the last of the soup which had t been frozen with a cheese roll. I didn't have time lunch time to do the dinner prep I needed to do so dinner was breaded haddock, wedges, broccoli and broad beans

Yes, the weather is very confusing (and confused 🙃) at the moment…
Made it to the end of the longest short week ever! Home day today and was actually calm and quiet so finished on time. Looking forward to a quiet, catch up weekend.
Lunch was beans with toast and tonight was farm shop sausages, mash and braised red cabbage (from my Christmas food parcel, which I had frozen) 😋0
