It started thundering here about 10.30p night ⚡️ it's raining hard now but no thunder as yet.

I hope the gout is getting better Farway

I hope the dogs behaved Caronc on Ari's territory

lunch was the last of the smoked salmon trimming with cream cheese on sour dough bread. I made croutons in the AF with the last of the bread.  Dinner was barbecue chicken wings with chip, corn on cob and coleslaw

    Good morning everyone,
Hope the gout is settling Farway.
The visit to my sister's with Hector went well. Ari and Hector had a very boisterous play in the garden when we arrived and Ari was clearly showing off. Fred the cat was less impressed and Hector has a scratched nose after ignoring a warning hiss!
Heavy rain showers here today, I need to pick more tomatoes so hopefully will get a dry gap to venture to the greenhouse.
Gammon again for lunch. Tonight I'm trying a new recipe from JO's 7 ways book - double pepper chicken which is basically a pepper & chickpea stew topped with griddled chicken breast and a pepper & red onion salsa. It's meal plan Wednesday so will add something from the new book to next week's plan.

Yay, back downstairs :) , very tentatively and a bit painfully this morning, but made it in time for the Asda delivery, some subs, upgrades to posh coleslaw, mushrooms & mac cheese. Just OOS and no delivery broccoli and the dreaded dishwasher rinse aid. But generally all there and with long shelf lives on the fresh items like meat, that's me sorted for a fortnight in case I'm housebound for a bit with the leg

The gout has gone Brambling, from my experience the tablets may bring it on, but it only lasts a couple of days, one day at peak gout, with a couple either side at nuisance level. I'm hoping this last lot will be the final fling before the tablets clear it out for good, or at least another ten years

Lunch, just toast with cheese spread
Dinner, maybe open the OOD sausages & beans or nuke the subbed posh macaroni cheese
Not very hungry, whatever I have is not gone yet

Farway I think if I had spoken to my own doctor surgery when I had my second attack they would have put me on the tablets you're on. I think if I get it again in the next few months they will or at least something similar as the nhs website suggests it clashes with my thyroid meds 🙄

    Caronc it's usually cat 1 puppy 0  :)

gardening day for me so I've coughed, sneezed and itched until I filled my gardening bin then I gave up and showered so I stopped itching. There were also lots of brambles from next door which needed cutting back so this evening I was using a needle to remove prickles 😬

lunch was a BLT sandwich. Dinner chicken biryani from the freezer

Another thunder storm for us between 8.30-9.00 tonight with some impressive sheet lightning, it seemed to bother his lordship tonight, I think that should have been the heavy rain  which accompanied it

    Good morning everyone,
Glad the gout has eased a bit Farway.
Yes the cat definitely was setting the boundaries Brambling!
Hector sitting today as DS2 left for the office just before 6am. Thankfully Hector was happy to snooze until a more civilised getting up time.
The JO "Double pepper chicken" from 7 ways which was gorgeous. Basically a pepper & chickpea stew, griddled chicken and a pepper & red onion salsa. DS2 is not always a fan of chickpeas but loved it. For a meat free option we reckoned aubergine slices or halloumi would work well. The recipe was for 4 but easily scales down so fairly CFO friendly.
Tonight it's Thai green chicken and veg curry with rice.

Another wet showery day ahead, heavy rain, then sun. But due to leg etc I wasn't going anywhere anyway
At least I can now manage the stairs veeery sloooowly, and hobble around not too painfully so that's a plus

I'm going to sort out my fresh meat delivery today, it's ll in date, but some will have to be frozen because I can't see me using it while in date, the diced stewing steak for instance won't be used by then. I'll probably freeze some excess bacon wile I'm at it

Meals today, lunch could snap with Brambling and have BLT sarnie
Dinner, not sure, I ordered mince to make burgers but not sure if I fancy them just now. If I do it's HM burger, HM AF chips & salad for dinner

It's been a strange day and the end of a era although I will say I'm all news out and I'm catching up on recorded stuff. My mum would say she learnt about the death of 'The Old King' from the postman, my sister who was six said she can remember her crying when she was told

Horrid stormy day again, I'm not having the best weather this week   :/ I was going into town but decided I didn't need anything enough to go out in the thunder.  I made use of the time and sorted the kitchen cupboards. His lordship got caught in a downpour and needed towel dried, I could have wrung him out !

I wanted to order my greenhouse today but the salesman I spoke to was off when I called and I think after the time he spent with me on Monday it's fair I order via him so will do so tomorrow.

My sister popped round for a cuppa and some scones after she finished work, I had to explain that the energy price cap wasn't the most we would pay regardless of the fuel we used 😬 my sister is a intelligent woman so I'm not sure how she got it so wrong, I found a explanation from Martin for her as she just couldn't grasp it or I was bad at explaining?  :) she did say me nagging her on how long she had her hot water on every day for just two of them had really brought down her gas bill from this time last year, even with the increases

lunch was a portion of turkey soup from the freezer and the AF croutons I made earlier in the week 😋, thank you whoever said make them in the AF  :). Dinner was the last of the YS lamb chops from the freezer with new potatoes and green beans I found the mint sauce this time (where it is always kept!)

    Good morning everyone,
Poor Hector is under the weather, we think he might have eaten something he shouldn't. It's probably something that would resolve itself but given his young age and the weekend looming DS2 has arranged an appointment at the vets this afternoon.
Tesco is due soon and then I'll see what the day brings.
Scotch egg and salad for lunch usual Friday freezer rake for dinner.

'morning all. End of era indeed, I'm another oldie so remember when The King died but at the time never really took it in, except having to stand to attention as the train carrying his coffin passed through a nearby station on its way to Windsor

AF croutons Brambling, I think that was me, glad you found them a success

Good news on the energy price cap at least, surprising how some things don't sink in with some people Brambling, hopefully your sister is now "getting it". I gave my son a laugh last night by telling him his son will still be paying this winter's energy bills for his dad so just to remind him, his son, to turn the lights off

The last granddaughter has got a space at Southampton Solent university, reading Law, mixed blessing for DD, all "kids" will now remain at home while at Uni :/ . But as my DS pointed out with the careers they have chosen there should be plenty of cash around for them to afford to bung her in a decent care home >:)

My leg continues to improve and nearly back to full mobility now with the gout just a memory and one slightly itchy finger

    Food today
    Bacon buttie scheduled for lunch
The HM burger + salad worked fine yesterday, so repeat for dinner

  • Back after an unexpected trip to family. Took any of the fresh stuff that wasn’t going to keep with me but have got an enormous bag of spinach to use asap. I’ve recycled some of last week’s meal plan so didn’t need to buy much today. Made chorizo, cannellini bean and spinach hash with poached egg tonight.

Nearly bedtime, been a strange sort of a week and I’m exhausted 😴
