'Morning all, and rain at last, I think what triggered it is neighbours have some building work going on, and another one has a garage roof being refelted, now it's a bit muggy with the wet but at least we have rain

With the rain, I changed my master plan because watering of volunteer pots not required today. I went to Costcutter instead of Co-op before my blood test.
My Costcutter is friendly enough, but hardly anything has prices on shelf edges, very much Hobson's Choice shop, however the milk was 11p less than co-op, and I now have a YS large pizza, it's Jack's / Tesco own, no idea how the shop works, some stuff is Co-op brand, some Jack's, some own label. I can imagine them going along to clearance sales and buying "stuff" :)

However, that visit has sorted my meals out
Lunch BLT with my fresh loaf
Dinner, the YS Jacks Cheese & tom pizza, I'll add extra cheese, plus salad
Then I've my own stewed blackberry & apples, perhaps push the boat out & open a tin of custard?
Or while oven on for pizza, maybe bung a crumble in? I'll have to check settings for that

I had a better night sleep, it was cooler and I think I reached my tired limits, I was woken at 6am by a engine running outside for a long time, sounded like something with a diesel engine. The rain arrived about 7am and was heavy all morning with thunder.  The fencers arrived about 10.30 am and sat in their vans awhile, by 2pm they were back in T shirts.  I was worried that they did my concrete base this afternoon and have threaten withholding payment if it rains before it's dry and ruins it.  They worked hard and did good work when they were here but their time keeping wasn't great, I told him I didn't mind that if they had texted me to keep me informed 🙄 I had to chase them both days, after telling me they would be here at 9am

lunch was seafood stick and avocado salad.  Dinner was pasta with a prawn and leek sauce using the last of the crème fraiche, we won't meant gout and seafood  ;)

I'm off tomorrow in lieu of Saturday work, weather permitting I'm going to the garden centre with my sister to look at greenhouses 🙂

  • Much cooler here and it has rained on and off during the day, quite heavy for a time this evening. Another fairly chilled day - bit of voluntary admin, few chores, been for a swim, bit catch up tv.

On a mission to use up everything from the fridge and not create anymore LOs before I go away for a few days…lunch was tuna, artichoke and spring onion wrap with the end of the lettuce and the last few tomatoes. Tonight was LO pork stroganoff from the freezer with noodles and the last of the sugar snaps.

Just catching up on tonight’s celebrity Masterchef - not completely sure about poached butternut squash 🤔

Yesterday's rain never amounted to much, but on a promise for later today, radar has a great lump of it over the Isle of Wight, so it may get here before it fizzles out

Ooh, greenhouse hunting Brambling, how exciting, I have some whitefly if you are short of any ;)

My bananas have gone over, black spotty skins, so I was forced to make a banana loaf first thing. It's out of the oven now, looking & smelling yummy, I'll sample a slice lunchtime

The Jack's YS pizza I had yesterday was another OK at YS price but not at full [£3.50]price, some LO for CFO cold pizza treat!

Packaged up the stewed B & A for the freezer, I still have a carrier bag of apples left to sort out but at least the windfalls have been taken care of

Lunch today, another BLT, with trial slice of cake
Dinner, use up time. Cold, cooked LO Asda chicken breast, with LO mash, nuked warm + side salad and I think salad cream drizzle will go well with that

I read recently salad cream and Daddies brown sauce has run out, I have both so one of the lucky ones but on balance I'd rather have run out of gout

    Good morning everyone,
    Enjoy the cold pizza Farway.
DS2 got an early call from work to offer him a promotion and a rather hefty pay increase. Needless to say he has accepted. I'm delighted for him.  :)
Overcast but dry here, I'm pooch sitting my sister's dog & Hector so there's never a dull moment! LOL
Lots of LO lasagne, I reckon with a few more sides it could have feed 12 easily so although not cheap to make good value per portion. Between dinner last night, including seconds for the boys, and  a a tub my sis took home we've used just over half of it. Lasagne for lunch and then I'll portion and freeze the rest.
Dal with rice, naan and salad for dinner.

Great news for your son Caronc  :)

Typical for me it was a rainy day off 🙄 I pottered in doors today and then my sister and I popped to garden and got wet looking at greenhouses to get some idea.  Unfortunately I'm not confident about installing it myself and that adds a lot to the cost.  They do have 15% off it it's a 3 month wait, there are a couple of other places to look.  I did pick up two nice salvias one blue black and one very dark purple for £2 each 🙂

lunch was cheese on toast with chilli jam.  Dinner pork and apple burger in a bagel with onion and mushrooms

    Good morning everyone,
Thanks for the good wishes re DS2's promotion Brambling. I'm delighted for him and it's given him a real boost.
Wet and grey here today, lots of kids in Scotland are back to school today though in our area they don't start back until tomorrow.
Hector's two bottom front teeth have fallen out, I've been trying and failing to get a photo of his gappy grin. He looks very sweet but he's actually in holy terror mode ......
Tesco order to finalise and then I'm going to give the front porch a good clean it's decidedly grubby looking!
BLT for lunch to use up some bacon that's going OOD. Chicken, cucumber and celery stir fry with Jasmine rice for dinner.

Well done to DS2 Caron, we are all on tenterhooks here awaiting grandson number 1 A level results, he is still in bed postponing the moment i suspect, he failed last year, too cocky IMO by not revising, shook him up but maybe did him good in the long run to fail instead of sailing through

Cooler but sunny today, picked another carrier bag of apples, plus some climbing beans, enough for two meals anyway

Greenhouses are a two-person job really Brambling, unless you're an octopus, or it's very lightweight in which case they blow down anyway

Still finalising my Asda delivery now I have the luxury of a booked slot once a fortnight I can dawdle

I was researching the final bits of one of the ancestors when I went down a rabbit hole and found a Grand Aunt I never knew who married copper & ran a pub in Harpenden, before the war, all news to me. There are "cousins" listed, but I've not contacted them, a job for another day

Meals, lunch is last of the BLT sarnies
Dinner, I have one small cooked & cold chicken breast left, so probably with HM AF chips & nuked LO beans
Own stewed B & apple to follow, or maybe slice of the bananas cake? Or both :)

Boiler is all fixed so should last awhile longer  :) he apologised as it was £50 because he was here more than a hour 🙂 I use a small father and son company this is the first time I've had the son and remember when the dad fitted my CH 17 years ago he talked about his youngest who was then 10 or 11 and he now works with his dad 😁

It seems work was manic yesterday so I was happy to miss it 😁 tomorrow was quite peaceful

lunch was beans on toast.  Dinner a quarter of salmon and spinach quiche from the freezer AF with salad and new potatoes

My terror Caronc 😁 I think I'm forgiven for having strangers around most of the week, the boiler man was the final straw for him

    Good morning everyone,
I hope DGS got the results he wanted Farway.
Fab photo Brambling, butter definitely wouldn't melt!! Hector was a whirling dervish all day yesterday creating mayhem in his wake. DS1 said he didn't so much fall asleep in his bed as collapse lol!
Dull by dry this morning but it's to turn wet again this afternoon.
Tesco due soon, just one minor unavailable item I had asked not to be subbed, however there was a lot of things out of stock when I finalised my order yesterday so had to tweak my meal plan slightly.
BLT again for lunch to finish the OOD bacon I cooked yesterday. Dinner is tbc.
