  • Made it to the weekend 🙃

Had a lovely wfh day, got washing dry on the line, managed a quick swim and also got a load of work done. A few things to deal with this morning but then I got my head down on a piece of work that has been hanging around for ages - big chunk of it done so all good.

Lunch was posh fishfingers in pitta with pickled gherkins and chimichurri mayo. Made black bean veggie fajitas with avocado and soured cream tonight. Oh, and a 🍷

I woke before 5am again this morning, I'm not sure if it's someone leaving the close early or the milkman my neighbour has or just because it's light, but I was convinced it was Saturday for a while  :( until I remembered my colleague who doesn't work Friday was working. It wasn't too busy of a day.

My sister texted before lunch to say she was at the local garden centre (a Hilliers) and they had a sale on all plants 50% off everything yesterday and today, she wants to crest a new flower border so needed plants and had a voucher to spend. She was a little overwhelmed so I told her to have a coffee and I'll meet her in my lunch break as it's only five minutes away.  I may have succumbed as well although a lot less than her 🙂 even their sale and sad corner plants were half price. She said she had heard staff discussing it as it had been a surprise to them, they were worried as this has never happened before.  I replenished my herbs which had been on offer, two for £5 (litre size pots) and they halved it at the tills to £5 for a four litre size pots and healthy plants 🙂

the weather was lovely and after a natter I reluctantly got back to my laptop just in time lunch was therefore some LO new potatoes AF and ate at my laptop.  Dinner was a mushroom omelette with salad

Nice sunny start to the day so early start by feed & water the pots at the front before the sun gets cracking, discovered a couple of green strawberries lurking, I wonder if I’ll ever get to eat them with all the slugs I have?

Good buy with the plants at Hillier’s Brambling, it is odd a quick sale but maybe over ordered or perhaps they just need cash PDQ? A lot of growing folk, like farmers & glasshouses are looking ahead and the sums don’t add up with the cost of energy & fertilisers, not just UK either, it’s worldwide now, shortage of lettuce in Australia for instance.

The Chinese pork dish I had the other day from W8rose was excellent if even if not budget friendly, and the well OOD Lidl nuke in pouch egg fried rice failed to kill me, a meal I’ll repeat I think, already added in date rice to the Asda order

Today is more YS Brussels pate on toast for lunch and dinner is LO beef stew which is more like chunky soup TBH, not one of my finest efforts but my stews are all a bit fridge sweep, chuck it in and see what happens.  A tad heavy handed with the salt this time round I think

  • Had a nice catching up sort of a day. Meal planning, shopping list writing and ironing while watching Saturday Kitchen this morning. Trip to a local town with a Next this afternoon as needed new jeans. Did my food shop while out. Bathroom has had a quick wipe round and hard floors have been swept and mopped. Been watching the Evans tennis match while making and eating dinner 🙃

LOs from last night’s fajitas turned into a quesadilla with some cheese and avocado for lunch. Sausages, crushed new potatoes, carrots and sugar snap peas, with creme fraiche and mustard sauce tonight (to use up potatoes, veg and creme fraiche really, also used up the end of a jar of wholegrain mustard).

I had a hair appointment today, cut and colour  :# and  catch up with my hairdresser.  And then a nice wander around the farmers market, not sure if it was because the sun was shining but everyone was in a good mood and very chatty, there was a pre lockdown feel to the town and the first time in ages I didn't dash in and out.  I probably spent too much at the fish van (new) venison stall and local cheese stall  :) my 'quick' pop into Boots for the expensive sun block for my face (My face swells up to anything else :# )  ended up with as 15min putting the world to rights with the lady on the Clinique counter who was from Cork  :)

it was gone 3pm by the time I got home so a late lunch was just some fruit and a cuppa. Dinner was stirfry salt and pepper squid with salad and new potatoes. I was tempted at the thought of skate until the lady in front brought one for £18  :o it was large and the fish monger reckoned would feed 4 🤔 I think next time I'm in the office I'll see what W8itrose have, pre lock down they frequency had it reduced

Another sunny & warm day forecast, more garden pottering is a distinct possibility, maybe sow a few more beetroots?

Getting close to making mind up time with my online shopping, Asda or W8rose? With Asda I have already paid for midweek delivery pass, and W8rose my vouchers expire every Tuesday /Wednesday, but have to pay for delivery. Very much a lucky to have first world problem wondering where to buy groceries not if you can buy them

I made a Panny BM loaf yesterday PM, so fresh bread for today’s sarnie

Lunchtime I think cheese & salady sarnie

I was going to nuke the other portion of LO stew for dinner but being such a nice day I think more salad is called for, one of the subbed rump steaks I think, with HM AF chips + salad for dinner

Brambling, that skate price is eye watering, but I expect with fuel costs it will only become more expensive as time goes by. Time to buy a beach rod & get down to Worthing beach? I used to go down Southsea but only caught seaweed

    Good morning everyone,
Just popping into to say hello and introduce you to Hector who has been keeping us on our toes, though he's settling well. :)

  • Hello Hector 👋

Lovely day here so got on with some more fence painting. Also stripped and remade the bed, and made packed lunches for office days and prepped fruit for snacks and breakfasts for a few days, exhausted now lol.

Lunch was scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toasted bagel. Prawn saganaki, tenderstem broccoli and toasted sourdough tonight, and a well deserved 🍷

What a cutee looks like butter won't melt Caronc 😁

Lovely sunny day so three loads of washing dried, I do like putting lined dried sheets back on the bed. I did some of the jobs not done yesterday then got side tracked by a book picked up at a charity shop yesterday 🙂

A freezer rummage came up with some smoke mackerel so I made pate for lunch. Dinner was roast chicken, jacket potatoes and some veg liberated from the freezer, root veg mash and red cabbage.

    Good morning everyone,
Hector seems to be settling in okay but my I had forgotten how exhausting a young pup is!
DS2 is working so it will just me and my shadow today. I have a list of things to do but suspect not many of them will get done!
Dry but very overcast here, I'm hoping the rain stays away as there is a bit of a laundry back log.
LO lamb for lunch with salad and I've salmon defrosting for tonight. I'll roast various veg to have with it.
