    Good morning everyone,
Wet and quite chilly here this morning. Garden has been puppy proofed as far as I can, not completely escape proof but enough to hopefully slow him down. My main concern was him tumbling off my deck so I've boxed in the balustrade so he can't squeeze through. 1001 uses for the wire shelves that come with plastic greenhouses  :D  .
Finally potted up the remaining begonias. Just the plants I bought recently to pot now once they're finished hardening off next week. Then I need to start to fill the greenhouse, my conservatory is beginning to be taken over with tomato and cucumber plants!
Pooch sitting today as my sister has had to go to a meeting, she'll pick him up later and all being well they'll sleep in their own beds tonight.
Apart from laundry and giving the bathroom a scrub I've nothing planned for today.
Dinner is tbc depending if I'm CFO or not. Lunch will be LO enchiladas.

Back to dull but warm. I saw the forecast last night & decided today was comfort food day, so prepped base for bran loaf last night [in soak] and the loaf is in the oven right now. It’s a recipe from You Tube, which I think is based on Hairy Bikers, 5 mugs of this and that including All Bran or similar. Smells nice but is taking longer to cook than it’s supposed to, not burning though so all’s well

I also assembled a beef stew thing in the slow cooker that also smells nice, if I remember I’ll chuck a tin of haricot beans in, and dumplings later

Brambling bit of a change trying W8rose sub F fingers, if they are good perhaps you could let me know? Nothing wrong with theirs but always worth trying something different. Good catch on the free spinach, shame they never did the same for my Chick & mush pie which only had two days life left when delivered on Sunday, I had it last night so it worked out

Talking of W8rose, yesterday I got the refund for the squashed loaf paid onto my C card, should I order again I’ll check at the door, like eggs

Today’s food, lunch not posh F finger sarnie, dinner the slow cooked stew + dumplings

  • Ooft, two long offsite meetings today, one more productive than the other. Did manage to get some emails cleared in the gap between the two and also during boring bits 🤫

Posh fishfingers…as I only frequent Waitrose when they are kind enough to send me offers, I have recently been buying sainsburys frozen TTD ones, both haddock and cod versions are very acceptable.

Bit of an Asian theme today though - more Chinese pork noodle salad for lunch and vegetable and cashew nut egg fried rice tonight.

Farway when they are on offer I like these, they were subbed with gastro ones and I'm not sure I would buy especially in the future as they are over £4 and I prefer their own brand, I would get their fresh ones for the same price 🤔

i think we probably shared the same bad weather Farway, it waited until lunchtime for the skies to open and then heavy showers all afternoon 🙄 it was a day office day so I missed my lunchtime walk to get out. It was a surprisingly quiet day 🤔

I topped the car up on the way home from work as it was nearly in the red so if you hear whimpering that's me  :s  not sure what the SM prices are at the moment but seeing that the petrol station a couple of miles from work was 7p a litre cheaper than the Texaco a mile away from home which I often used as I drive  past it on the way home from work   :#

lunch was more of the turkey soup 😋 Dinner after the fishfinger talk was a fish finger and watercress ciabatta roll with TT sauce

We had similar downpours yesterday Brambling, gutters overflowed of course and garden pottering cancelled, I may try again later but showers are a possibility so they say

The malt loaf turned out very well, but it is huge, I’ll use a smaller measuring mug next time round. Meanwhile I think I’ll slice and freeze some, not done this before but seems possible according to searches

I don’t think I’d accept gastro F Fingers as subs for the posh ones. When I had posh ones on my list I added a note to sub for posh cod if not available, as it happened the haddock arrived anyway

Just realised I have a Scotch egg lurking so that’s lunch + bit of salad

Dinner, part of my delivery was MFO stab & ping Chinese char siu pork, never had that one so giving it a try tonight, with well past BBE Lidl nuke in pack egg fried rice.

If normal post Chinese hunger ensues I’ll top up with HM malt loaf

    Good morning everyone,
Oh HM malt loaf Farway how lovely, it should freeze just fine.
I have tomato and cucumber flowers.  :)
Hoovering for me today, now there's a job I'd happily delegate though I don't mind mopping through afterwards. Might waft a duster about too!
Dry but cloudy and not terribly warm but I'm hoping it stays dry so I can get some more done outdoors. I want to pot up the final flower plants, they could maybe do with a few more days hardening off but with pup arriving I want it done so fingers crossed they survive.
Sis and pooch moved back home yesterday though she's popping back later to pick up the things she forgot!
Cheese and pineapple toastie for lunch and I've a portion of cottage pie made with ox cheek ragu defrosting.

Somewhere I've a malt loaf recipe written down, I think it is a cup of all bran, sultanas and soft brown sugar soaked over night in cup of milk and add flour before cooking which maybe be a cup or possibly two it's been a long time since I made it but made have to dig out the recipe now 😁 or the tea loaf recipe I have written in the same book 🙂  I think they are both lb loafs

Work wise it was just another day, slightly busier than yesterday and I'm stuck with the slow job of writing test scrips for a phase 2 of our system upgrade, I may need to breakout the emergency gin from under the stairs 😬 it's going to be a long job

lunch was turkey soup 😋 the last two portions are in the freezer. I wasn't that hungry dinner time so dinner was fruit and yoghurt

    Oh well, Friday tomorrow.

Last of the Chinese pork noodle salad for lunch. Tonight was ham and mushroom omelette, chips and beans 😋

    Good morning everyone,
I have that recipe Brambling and very good it is too, I even had the All Bran cookbook at one point.
It's "P" day today, puppy is being collected this afternoon. He's coming from near Doncaster so a bit of a trek but DS1 is helping so there's someone to care for pup during the journey. I can't wait to meet him.
Forecast isn't promising, gale force winds and heavy showers from lunchtime. It's dry and sunny just now but pretty breezy.
Tesco due soon and then I might tackle the ironing. A job I hate but it's getting to the needs must point.
Salad roll for lunch and probably a takeaway tonight.
Will probably not the get the chance to post for a couple of days between pup and a family get together tomorrow evening for DS1's birthday, hope everyone has a good weekend.

That’s the one Brambling; hardest bit is mixing the flour in. I cut back on the sugar because I don’t like too sweet & the currants / raisins / fruit add sweetness. There may not be enough left soon to be worth freezing, so moreish , spread with £2 W8rose butter as anti calorie ointment

Dry, warm, sunny but breezy here, up to have my tootsies sorted earlier then watered the volunteer pots plus into Co-op, YS Brussels pate, well in date though, mid-July, so maybe having a clear out? Either way I have it at home

Lunch was toast with YS Brussels pate

Dinner, W8rose pie for one, with LO mash and I think I’ll have a rummage to see what frozen veg I can have with it, plus instant gravy

Best of luck with the pup Caron, I foresee a sleepless night ahead if it’s first time away from mum for him / her, amazing how they soon settle in though once they get you trained
