    Good morning everyone,
Hope you get your heating/hot water sorted Brambling.
By bed time yesterday I'd almost completely lost my voice, much to DS2's amusement! It's back this morning but I'm still very croaky and tbh feel a bit rubbish. LFT negative but it's definitely some sort of lurgy.
Wet, windy and none too warm today after lovely sunshine yesterday. We sat in the garden for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon and it was really quite warm.
Good amount of gammon LO so that's lunches covered for at least a couple of days. Inspired by Masterchef last week I'm making smoked mackerel fishcakes, pea puree, topped with a poached egg and served with broccoli for dinner.
  • Oh dear Caron, what you have sounds very much like what I had the other week, negative test but all the symptoms including shivers, coughing, runny nose and feeling grotty.

Comfy chair & blanket with streaming channel of choice + Lemsip and whatever unhealthy nibble takes your fancy eventually fixed it for me, mine went on for about a month but I may have had mild Man ‘Flu at same time. Feeling fine now, so much so I need to book my top up covid jab now the symptoms and time has elapsed

Hope the heating is sorted Brambling, sounds like it could be problem with the motorised valve. Good news is relatively cheap & easy to replace depending on type. Of course sod’s law yours is the gold plated one with diamond bearings handmade by elves and priced accordingly

Out and about early this morning, planting up at the volunteer garden, dry as dust up there so lot of time with the hose just drenching plant pots

Lunch was back to cheese & salad sarnie

Dinner is warmed up [nuked]  LO mash, LO beans & defrosted AF bangers

I hope you've been taking it easy Caronc 🙂

I think you're right Farway re my CH/HW I Googled it 😁 I left a message for my engineer this morning but will have to chase tomorrow, they are a small father and and now son business with his wife taking the calls. He fitted the system 17 years ago and has put the service charge up once in all those years 🙂

it was a lovely day just a shame I was working  :/ I had a bit of a sleepless night between hip and foot 🙄 limping because of my foot has upset the hip (anyone have a gun?) so just as well work wasn't too manic and no meetings other than a quick team catch up

lunch was a cheese salad with LO slaw on the patio. Dinner was a tomato and vegetable pasta sauce on a jacket potato 🙂 and a bit of salad

I was so croaky this morning that my boss took pity on me and did most of the talking in the interviews we were conducting! He also let me work from home this afternoon which meant I could keep an eye on the landscapers too, they’ve finished now so over to me for fence painting and planting hundreds of pots - I am going fully container gardening 🌼🪴🌷

Lunch was some of the peanut, sweet chilli and vegetable noodles (eaten at my desk while completing paperwork re the interviews - wanted to get things happening quickly). Made one of my favourite traybakes tonight - chorizo, sweet potato and spinach hash, with a soft boiled egg 😋
  • Rained overnight, not enough to do any good just make the place damp

Welcome to the croaky club JSK, hope you’re not coming down with whatever is going round on here

Today’s job is book car in garage for the brake light problem, I’m looking at next week to suit me but not desperate really

CFO today is not much C, decided on salad now it’s dull, salmon fillet out & defrosting

    Lunch, cheese salad sarnie again

Dinner fried in butter & EVO salmon fillet, with salad & boiled new spuds.

I can now pick my own mint for the spuds; at last I managed to get some growing, despite it growing elsewhere like a weed mine had always died off. No longer, and it’s at the front so can fight it out with the ivy & lemon balm

    Good morning everyone,
I'm still very snotty/croaky but feel a bit better today. Did another LFT this morning which was negative so I'm pretty sure it's a head cold rather than anything else.
After a wet and windy day yesterday the sun is peeking out between showers today so it feels a bit warmer. I nearly put the heating on yesterday evening but once the stove was lit the place was soon cosy.
Fishcake worked very well and definitely hit the spot. There's a spare for the freezer that will do me nicely one night when I'm CFO.  :)

My sis and nephew are coming for dinner tonight. DS2 is cooking so I'll be KP. We're having chicken chasni, dal, rice, naan, salad and raita.

I feel worse this evening so really hoping a good night’s sleep gets rid of this lurgy 😕

Busy wfh day until I crashed out and had a nap late afternoon.

Lunch was filled pasta, handful of frozen peas, sun dried tomatoes, bit of spinach and the end of a tub of olives. Had the planned beans with toast tonight despite not going swimming and needing early tea, it was just what I fancied!

It looks like Farway shared his gout with me and Caronc and JKS are sharing this lurgy I hope you both feel better in the morning

Lunch was a fish finger sandwich and dinner the last of my veggie slaw with salad, egg, Parma ham and cheese

  • Seems like sharing is back in fashion, I hope no one gets to share my nose bleeds, came back again yesterday and this morning is a bit weepy but  not flowing, which has put the brakes on my planned Marks mooching, dreading the thought of YS mooching the aisles in Marks and then looking like axe murder has been committed, so opted to say home today

With no Marks mooch I got on and ordered from W8rose, delivery on Friday, saved a few quid using my loyalty vouchers and multi buys, went mad on the No 1 range bangers on offer, at least they are high meat & real casings not the seaweed skins that go sticky when cooking, looking at You Asda [points finger]

Bit of clerking again, booked in the ABS light with garage for next week, they collect for “free” which is handy ‘cos no buses out that way and I’d never have enough puff to walk home from there these days. Plus Covid booster booked quite local Saturday after next, I wonder if could even find myself queuing at the chippy afterwards?

Lunch, back to cheese salady sarnie, but seeing Bramblings F Finger sarnie I may go for one of those

Dinner, don’t know, I had hoped to find something YS, or a nice steak in Marks but now its freezer shuffle or maybe one of the Parsley Box ones I bought on offer

Rain is due so something warming for dinner I think, there’s a frozen meat pie somewhere, could be that plus AF chips & peas

    Good morning everyone,
Hope you are feeling better today JKS, I thought I was on the mend yesterday but I'm feeling rubbish again today.
    Hope the nosebleeds stop Farway.
    Is your foot better Brambling?
Quotes in for replace a shared strip of fencing at the front fence and is very much what I expected work should start in the next few weeks and it should only take a couple of days. I'll be very glad to get it done as the old one is quite literally falling down and is a real eyesore.
Heavy showers here today and decidedly chilly. I'm hoping the weather picks up next week so I start getting plants hardened off.
Last of ham for lunch while DS2 has LO dal.
Cheesy chilli meatballs in HM tomato sauce with pasta for dinner tonight.
