I was disappointed at iceland frozen cod for the same reason Farway, it was very spongy when defrosted 😐
I felt a little icky today and was ill this morning, which did have the benefit of getting rid of my headache so I'm not sure if a mild migraine. I was able to stay logged on today just not sure now much work got done. Therefore food has been some dry crackers for lunch and a couple of ginger biscuits for dinner. LOs will need to roll over until tomorrow

Oh no, Brambling, hope you feel better soon.Good day here wfh. All my to do list items for the day crossed off and huge amounts of work done out in the garden by the landscape chaps, very excited about how it’s going to look 😀
Smoked mackerel pate and toast with some cherry tomatoes for lunch. Cheese and mushroom omelette, chips and salad tonight. And a 🍸 to celebrate making it to Friday night!0 -
Bright but cold this morning, hope it warms up a bit because it’s salad for tonight
I’ve had the Iceland cod as well Brambling, with same results as you, shame really because there is such potential, I can see why the W8rose posh ones costs more but at least not paying fish prices for water. Hope you’re feeling better today
Lunch will be more of my HM celery soup
Dinner, bung in all the LOs frittata and salad
Tomorrow I’m over my son’s; it’s the youngest grandchild’s 12th birthday, a real May Queen born on the first, at least not a date to forget and with luck always on holiday for her birthday. Fingers crossed for the weather and sitting in the sun eating cake

Good morning everyone,
Hope you feel better today Brambling.
I completely agree that frozen fish isn't always as good value as it initially looks!
Raining here this morning, it wasn't supposed to arrive until late afternoon so my plans to do more potting have been scuppered. Thank goodness we decided to invite my sister and nephew for a bbq tomorrow rather today as the weather looks okay tomorrow. We'll be eating indoors though as it's far from warm enough to do so outside come evening. We're cooking souvlaki so will prep the pork later. Apart from that a lazy day is on the cards.
I made dish of cauli cheese yesterday, had some with sausages for dinner and there's LO for lunch. Easy meal tonight of scampi, oven chips, peas and green beans.0 -
After a early night I feel better today 🙂 I have had a lazy day other than the essential housework. I went to Sainsbobs for some F&V after lunch and a bottle of rose wine fell into the basket 😁 I watched a little Saturday Kitchen this morning and it was recommended 😋 I had intended to go to Lidl but there were cars blocking the road queueing to get in their small car park. No lettuce or spinach (which I tend to use in salads) so I may have to try T Exp tomorrow
lunch was crab sticks with LO veg slaw and dinner LO chicken in cider with rice and vega nice easy pinged meal of LOs 🙂

Quickly popping in to say “morning folks and checking the e mails. As mentioned its granddaughter’s birthday party today, so CFO is just cake & crisps I expect
I have LO cauli cheese for later, plus a fresh loaf just out of the Panny overnight bake should sort food out for rest of the day
Rain on its way and may even drive into it as we head west to the Birthday Girl near Southampton

Good morning everyone,
Glad you are feeling better Brambling.
Hope you have a lovely day with your family Farway.
Drier today thankfully so fingers crossed the rain stays away this evening so we can cook outdoors.
BLT for lunch and then pork souvlaki, tzatziki, Greek pittas, herby spuds, pink pickled onions and aubergine salad. A few glasses of red will feature though my sis is working tomorrow so it won't be a late one.0 -
I hope you had a good day out with family Farway and maybe a doggy bag with birthday cake 🙂
I woke up in the early hours in a lot of pain with my right big toe 😬 I couldn't touch it, it's painful and red and swollen today so after checking with doctor google I wondering if it's gout 😢 so I had to cancelled my plans to walk with my sister. Any one got a gun
my sister and I did pop to the big garden centre the other side of town to inspect it after a big revamp, not impressed with the suggested 20+ minute wait for a cup of tea so we gave it a miss, I was hobbling a lot by the time we left so my foot has been up since I got home at 5pm over than a quick dinner. TBH it has always been the better plant garden centre but the big revamp is all none garden stuff ie clothes, shoes, China and knickknacksLunch was toast and marmalade. Dinner was fried sea bass fillets, new potatoes and LO green veg and salsa verdeLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,
Ouch Brambling, hope your toe is less painful today.
I had a lovely evening with DS2 and my sister, unfortunately my nephew got stuck at work so his meal was packed up for him to have at home when he finally got finished.
Pooch will be dropped off this afternoon for a "sleepover", he's good fun to have around so will keep us amused with his antics apart from that I've not much planned. If it stays dry we'll bbq again this evening - spatchcock peri peri chicken, corn and baked spuds. LO aubergine salad and fridge bits for lunch.

The birthday party went well, but no cake doggy bag sad to say, just as well I guess but I came home full anyway, nice to get together after all the covid hassle
Oh Brambling, sorry if gout has slipped over the border, my sympathies if it is, at least you’re able to take ibuprofen which should ease it. My finger is easing, bit itchy now but far better than it was. I continue overdosing on celery in the meantime and hoping it will provide long term benefits, I remember from years ago, maybe old wives tales, about celery cleansing the blood, maybe old wives knew a thing or two? At least it’s cheap & fresh green veg so not all bad
Glad your evening went well Caron and enjoying the pooch, the best type just for sleepover and any problem back it goes to the owner
Meals today, very CBA, LO last of the HM celery soup for lunch
Dinner, something from my bargain offer Parsley Box I think, no idea yet, need to rummage
I’ll be absent again tomorrow, all being well off to RHS Wisley for the day, rain maybe later in the day but should have seen what we wanted by then
