    Good morning everyone,
Damp and grey  here this morning but much milder.
Our Christmas plans are bit up in the air as my sister has mild covid symptoms and has a PCR booked this morning. It's fingers crossed for a negative result back before Saturday.
I'm feeling a tad more civilised today but still have very sore and stiff joints. I've quite a bit I want to do today so enjoying a cuppa while I wait for painkillers to kick in.
Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel for lunch and tonight it's pasta with HM tomato sauce & pesto.

Asda delivery arrived on time, two subs, both harmless, own brand rolls in pace of Warburton’s. Despite MSE I chose the dearer option due to poor review on the Asda ones, but time will tell & cooked beetroot in lieu of pickled. I can live with that especially as BBE is in Feb

Even better news it was still zero charge for delivery, leaving me time in the New year to sort it out, and all the fresh perishable items are BBE after Christmas, gives me a good week to sort, freeze or eat

A very full fridge, I’ve had to put some of the veg into the pantry but should be OK for a few days in there.

Dull and damp & misty morning, not one for trudging round shops looking for last minute stuff IMO, and my foot is still improving, yay for that

Food today, I can start on the bacon, so BLT for lunch

Dinner, last LO beef stew, had to take it out of fridge due to space, so may as well eat it today, then I can get stuck into the Christmas food. I may crack open the free Asda luxury mince pies later

Caron, I hope your sister's PCR turns out negative, it would be such a shame especially as Scotland is super locked down come New Year

Quickly popping in because my son is collecting me soon to take me round to his family pre-Christmas gathering, His family are nomads over Christmas, like his parents and go wherever the invite is. Looking damp out anyway and its bin day.

Made a start on the Christmas cheese last night, just some Brie with crackers. Maybe a mince pie while I’m out today?

Due to being out lunch so no idea what may turn up, should have been BLT sarnie, but may be eat later & have to change?

Dinner, just don’t know, I still have some cold beef LO so maybe cold cuts & pickles? Or crack open the smoked salmon with some scrambled eggs? Or pile into the pate? Knowing me it’ll probably be cheese & crackers

Had I not had the invite out I'd make the boiled fruit cake today, but with being out tomorrow as well I'll leave that until Boxing day when I'll be able to nibbe at it along with other treats

The foot continues to improve, still red & swollen but far less painful and I have high hopes of getting my shoe on

I’m all set for tomorrow now, and if I don’t get on MSE then wishing you all Merry Christmas

    Good evening everyone,
Christmas plans are shredded and it will just be DS2 and myself now. Sis is still waiting her pcr results but has had a positive lft and her symptoms are more COVD-like now. As DS1 & DIL-to-be fly on the 27th and need to head Manchester on Sunday they've quite sensibly decided not to venture down. DS2 & DS1 will make dinner in a box fot sis and nephew and we'll Zoom on and off throughout the day and just make the best of it.
Hope everyone has a lovely day, Merry Christmas

    Good morning everyone,
I hope everyone had a good day yesterday.
Ours went as well as it could have in the circumstances Christmas Eve and the morning of Christmas Day were hectic. Usually I do most of the prep on Christmas Eve but the day disappeared sorting out provisions etc. for sis and nephew and organising present swaps among the three households. Yesterday morning DS2 and I rattled about sorting out "Christmas Day in a box" to get dropped off at my sister including canapes, cocktails as well a the main meal. In the afternoon we had a virtual family gathering and then we all did our own thing. DS2 and I had real energy slump so chilled out for a bit before finishing cooking our meal so it was quite late when we ate and we were uncouth and had it on our knees in front of the telly!
We managed to buy a fresh reduced  to £5! That's been boned and frozen and will come in handy as we are aiming to have a family "Christmas" gathering for my sister's birthday in January. Today I need to roast the bones and get another batch of stock made overnight. Tomorrow will be turkey soup making day. I've no real plans for today, won't be cooking as there's plenty of leftovers and DS2 is out this evening so I'll watch Call the Midwife.

A very wet morning, not ideal for anyone wanting a spot of Bank Holiday walking. Hoping all Christmases went as well as could be expected in the circumstances, mine turned out OK but nothing special this year, at least I did get to see all the relatives so no complaints there.

Food wise I’ve loads left, finished up portioning the LO roast beef & freezing it, sprouts and other 20p veggies  remain un opened because I was snacking on pate and cheeses instead of CFO.

I’m finding it awkward to fit food around the timings on the antibiotics, take on empty stomach a couple of hours each side of eating and regular doses every six hours only gives a small window to eat in, but better that than Big Red Foot, thankfully now on the mend and nearly normal size this morning

This morning I’ve made a start on the Boiled Fruit cake, boiled the fruit at least & now it’s cooling down before final mix & bake. While oven is hot post cake I may pop in the chicken or pork joint, which I’ll pick at this evening, CBA to make “proper” meal tonight

Lunch will be grilled streaky in finger rolls, with sliced tomato for a healthy heart

Dinner as mentioned, picking at whatever meat I cook, plus boiled fruit cake as required

    Good morning everyone,
Glad your foot is on the mend Farway and you managed to see your family.
Soup making and leftover tackling for me today. I roasted the carcass of turkey 2 yesterday and filled the SC with half the bones and some veg overnight for stock, I'll repeat that again this evening. I cold have looked out the huge SC but it cooks very fast so I didn't want to risk an overnighter and get a scorched taste if it caught at the sides.
Meals today remain tbc though DS2 was talking about turkey curry yesterday so that may well be dinner.
