Another wet & windy morning but only way it will affect me is when I put the rubbish into wheelie bin later on

A good CFO day yesterday, in the end I roasted the pork joint, and for once have snappy crackling, and the joint is right CFO size, enough for generous greedy guts portions with not a lot of LOs. Plus I made the Boiled Fruit cake, which has turned out really well and very glad that W8rose ran out before I had a delivery. Looks like I’ll be on cake for a few days yet, toying with idea of using any stale LOs as base for a New Year trifle

Today is potter & tidy up day, clear up kitchen after two days of just leaving stuff on the side, bedding change, bins emptying etc.

Meals today are still picking and snacking, especially now I have cake & cold roast pork added to the non-meal plan, but lunch is last of the streaky in finger rolls, with the statutory healthy sliced tomato

Seems we all had a quieter Christmas than first planned for, but at least there was one unlike last year.Fingers crossed for 2022

My foot is just about back to normal now which is just as well because I only have two more antibiotic tablets left of the first dose and would rather not start on the second lot if not needed

    Good afternoon everyone,
Glad the boiled fruitcake worked Farway.
Yesterday I cooked a pan of turkey & leftovers soup and made a couple of two portion turkey, stuffing & leek pies for the freezer. Turkey and dinner leftovers are all now taken care of. I made more stock overnight and it's now reducing ready to be portioned and frozen. Just need to pick the carcass for meat now. I had some of the soup for lunch and my it was delicious, best soup of the year IMHO.  :) DS2 has dropped a tub off at my sister's for them to enjoy. She is feeling a good bit better today thankfully. Pasta with HM tomato & pesto sauce for dinner tonight.

Horrid wet and windy day here so I only went out for milk when I realised mine was dated yesterday it's ok today but I would hate for it not too be for my morning cuppa 😳

Turkey soup is also my favourite Caronc and in my childhood memorIes the sign that the turkey was finished 😁 hot, cold, cold, cold,  rissoles/meatloaf then soup 😋 my mum could stretch that bird!

lunch was a mug of tea with a slice of Xmas cake.  Dinner Nasi Goreng with the last of a bag of spinach which needed using wilted through it

Re jig of plans for tomorrow, my sister and nephew are coming for dinner rather than later in the week so a half leg of lamb is defrosting in the kitchen - I've the ingredients for a Bakewell tart so I may make one in the morning as it's my sister's favourite

I'm glad the AB have worked their magic again Farway, hopefully you won't need the other batch

This morning's weather is a repeat of Brambling's horrid wet & windy, it’s awful out there

Had to have a quick food reshuffle yesterday because my HM loaf had started to go mouldy, spotted in time so in the bin with that, it was the Christmas period otherwise I would have used it by now, that meant however the pate on toast plan became cheese & crackers, followed by fruit cake & some Chocolate orange segments for the fruit part of meal

I’ve not got turkey LOs for soup, but am thinking of use up some of the 20p veg later this week, loads of mushrooms for instance. I am also considering a veggie tray bake but that is more of a maybe than will be

Lunch today will be PB baguette, filled with cold sliced roast pork & stuffing

Dinner, see above re maybe tray bake. I have to recheck the use by dates on the chicken & steak in the fridge so one of them may be on the table tonight, I know the dates are quite close to Year end which is about now, steak I could freeze but chicken is a whole one and freezer space is tight right now

Hope the lamb and tart for Sister meal turned out OK Brambling, ideal weather for it at least.

    Good morning everyone,
Joining you with the wet and wild weather today.
Yes the turkey was well stretched Brambling, just the picked bones in the food waste bin.  Enjoy your meal with your sister and nephew :D
Lunch today will be some more turkey soup and tonight we're having salmon, pak choi, rice and peppers.
  • Hope everyone had a good Christmas. I’m back CFO for the foreseeable. No work until 4 Jan so just enjoying some time relaxing at home.

Jacket spud with cheese and beans for lunch. Salmon and broccoli pesto pasta tonight. Nice and easy to get me back into it 😂

Slightly less horrid weather than yesterday 💦 wet but mild, even my sister didn't complain on how low my thermostat was 😁

lunch was a sausage sandwich with brown sauce. Dinner was roast lamb and Bakewell tart 😋 the only LOs were the tart which went back with my nephew who has extremely hollow legs, most unfair considering how skinny slim he is, he ate two plates of dinner 🙂

His lordship joined us for games at the table 🙄🙀 he didn't approve of our choice of exploding kittens  :D we gave up playing anything which he could easy spread out across the table after it was walked through and than sprawled over

    Good morning everyone,
Lol re his lordship Brambling  :D
Damp and dreary here this morning. Tesco are due soon and I'll need to give the fridge a sort out and play a bit of freezer tetris. Lamb bones are defrosted to make stock for Saturday's gravy and I'll take the joint out to defrost today. Froze the remaining portions of turkey soup yesterday, lunch today will be a bagel and salad. Pork chops with veg and spuds for dinner this evening.

Grey, dull, damp but very mild outside. Forecast is nearly tropical before the weekend; at least for the New Year revellers it will be warmer than is normal this time of year

The chicken got roasted yesterday, and was nibbled in Henry VIII style during the afternoon & evening. I also scoffed a BBE pack of smoked salmon which was very close to use by as well. My CFO at the moment is being dictated by Use By dates, ,except for some manky well past it carrots which will be binned

I have a fresh loaf in the Panny, should be ready for tonight because I’m getting fed up with crackers & cheese and thinking is chicken & stuffing sarnie, or maybe salad filling?

My boiled fruit loaf was recycled this morning into a trifle, lovely smell of raspberry jelly now lingering, can’t catch the smell of pork gelatine which is one of the jelly ingredients, bleeugh, always seems odd to put that in but as I am currently eating pork crackling & roast pork hardly something for me to moan about. Trifle is in fridge to set jelly before part two later today or this evening in time for New Year

Lunch, the other PB baguette, with roast pork & stuffing filling, it was smoked salmon filling yesterday once I spotted the BBE on the salmon

  • Another quiet day here, just a trip out to the swimming pool.

Lunch was bacon and mushrooms on toasted sourdough. Made a butternut squash and chickpea curry tonight, served with rice. Bit of curry left for lunch tomorrow 😉
